because together, we thrive. ♪ live from the kgo tv broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. at least three people are hurt after a wrong way driver crashes into several cars on the bay bridge. it caused a mess, traffic heading to the east bay was stopped for more than an hour. good evening, live pictures for you now. this is a live look at the bay bridge from our emoriville camera. you can see there is heavy traffic but at least it is moving at this hour. another better angle, you can see the drivers moving there. lisa a minute gulezian as more. >> reporter: you can see from the shots right behind me, things are moving from a pretty

good pace right now, this is video as we crossed the westbound lanes about an hour ago. at the time three lanes from the eastbound side were open and the two far left lanes were blocked. a torn-up car was one of four involved in the pile-up. three people suffered minor injuries, one hurt was the woman police believe caused this whole thing. apparently she was driving westbound but in the eastbound lanes driving more than a mile before police say she started to crash into other drivers. >> wrong-way drivers are more common than people realize. but typically what happens is the driver realizes their mistake, stops, and then corrects the error. it is very rare in these situations where the driver continues driving. >> reporter: and at one point, the lane was completely shut down to allow the emergency

crews to access the site. back here live now the suspect in the meantime is being treated at the hospital. and she has been arrested for driving under the influence. abc 7 news. very dramatic video, thank you. and now from san francisco with more on the traffic mess. >> reporter: yeah, we have been watching this traffic mess for you -- now for about the last couple of hours. it did start to move a bit. but at the worst point the lower deck of the bay bridge was basically a parking lot. some drivers lost their patience and decided to back their way off the ramp and onto surface streets. we saw one person also decide to drive off, and nearly cause a crash. but for the most part people did slowly and patiently way inch their way off onto the bridge. how long have you been in? >> about 45 minutes.

>> reporter: have you heard why? >> three lanes were blocked. >> why? >> head-on collision. >> we came from all the way from the other end of mission and all the freeway was backed up the whole way, oh, my god! >> reporter: yeah, traffic was pretty dramatic. when chp did clear the lanes we quickly noticed that cars began to move just a bit faster. but coming back now live as you can see right there on the lower deck of traffic heading onto the bay bridge more than two hours after this wrong-way driver crashed. the lower deck of traffic is crawling along, going at a decent pace. all this traffic backed up on surface levels that will take a bit of time to clear out still. reporting live. some of our colleagues here are not looking forward to their drive home tonight. take a look, you can see how slow traffic is, with the drive

in north korea. bae, for two years, miller, seven months. on saturday, bae's sister expressed her gratitude saying i am thrilled to imagine hugging my brother soon. he will not have to spend another day at a labor camp. he can now recover from this imprisonment and look forward to his wife, kid and the rest of his life. our celebration this year will be one we'll never forget. they followed the release of jeffrey fowle, who was accused of leaving a bible in a club. fowle spoke back in august. >> i apologize to the people in government and the united states for causing a headache. >> reporter: bae, from a seattle, washington suburb was detained in 2012 while leading a tour group to a north korea economic zone. he was sentenced to hard labor for alleged illegal activities.

miller was serving a six-year jail term on charges of espionage after he allegedly ripped his tour visa and demanded asylum. abc news, new york. right now, we're following new details following a missing student from san jose. israel legardo is one of four students who disappeared in mexico. mexican authorities found badly burned human remains in a river near lagardo's school, the remains are so badly burned they may be difficult to identify. prosecutors say mexican drug gangs admitted to the crime. lagardo's father told abc 7 he lost faith in the mexican government and fears for his safety. new at 11:00, a man and two children found dead in a home in reno tonight. at 4:30, police arrived to find

the bodies in the homes. police are not looking for the suspect. they believe this is a murder-suicide. an accident at the san francisco zoo has claimed the life of its youngest guerilla. she died yesterday as the zoo staff was basically putting the animals away for the night. abc 7 news reporter has. >> reporter: for for some families, the guerillas were what they wanted to see first. >> my daughter was all excited about going to see the guerillas. we didn't see any. >> reporter: last night, kabeba was put in her sleeping area. the young guerilla darted out and was crushed and killed. kebeba was a rare star, a birth in captivity. this summer, they treated her to her birthday, giving fruit and other goodies. this is the latest string

involving san francisco zoo animals. in 2011, a squirrel monkey named banana sam went missing. a spokesperson said he was taken from his enclosure, but returned a couple of weeks later. in 2007, a tiger named tatiana escaped her enclosure. the cat killed one spectator and injured two others, zoo officials say this type of accident is extremely rare and the zoo wishes to assure that all animal protocol at the facility is specifically designed with animal safety as the top priority. just before closing time, zoo visitors said they were able to see the guerillas. >> the guerilla habitat was open. >> and they're in there. >> and they're doing their thing, their guerilla stuff. >> reporter: but they said no signs were up mentioning what happened. so administrators say they're still investigating. in san francisco, abc 7 news. and developing news, friends and co-workers of a software engineer who vanished on

. traffic is getting back up to speed right now after an injury accident on the bay bridge, a live picture for you here. eastbound lanes were closed for about an hour, police say a wrong-way driver caused the wreck and the officers have arrested her on suspicion of dwi. a muddy mess that wasted tens of thousands of gallons of

water, that was discovered after a water main break overnight. abc reporter has more. >> reporter: it is a massive job repairing a giant 36-inch water transmission pipe. the main broke, sending thousands of gallons of water down first street, a major line that moves water into the treatment plants into the neighborhood. >> we're losing a lot of water. >> reporter: at one point, 200 customers were without water all morning into the afternoon including everyone in this apartment complex. >> you want to go do your showers and morning events you can't do it because there is no water. >> reporter: the city insists the main broke overnight and crews started to work at 6:00 a.m. but this photo was taken at 8:00 a.m. and no crew was in sight. some homeowners are frustrated by what seems like a lot of water being wasted. >> going into the storm drain,

which is going back into the ocean. so instead of people having drinks and baths that is where it is headed. it is a shame. >> reporter: the city said that an earthquake may be responsible for the break. >> considering the shake-up we had in the water main and the august 21st earthquake, we continue to have multiple leaks since that. >> the city of napa set up this emergency water filling station for residents to use just in case service is interrupted while they repair it. in napa, lisa amin gulezian, abc 7 news. and streets are back to normal in downtown san jose after the massive gas leak. a construction crew pierced a pipe near santa clara street sending gas going up into the air. election officials are expect e to continue to count ballots.

sam liccardo is still leading dave cortese, there are fewer than 15,000 votes to cote. liccardo has claimed victory. and today, a response on the raiders owner mike davis moving the team to texas. >> mike always keeps his options open, but mark would also have to get permission from the other owners and i don't think the owner of the dallas cowboy is really interested in having another team in texas. >> reporter: the delegation from san antonio met with davis yesterday to discuss the possible move. the raiders' lease at the coliseum ends after this season. a move to san antonio could be just temporary. the city could host the raiders until a permanent home is built in oakland or another city. certainly been a sweet run for the giants. and brandon belt has been a big part of it. he is the first baseman for the two world series wins.

live from the kgo broadcast center this is abc 7 news. good evening, i'm katie marzullo. in tonight's headlines, three people are injured tonight after a driver went the wrong way on the bay bridge happening three hours ago in the eastbound lanes near the tower. a witness says the driver didn't have their highlights on. that driver has been arrested on suspicion of dui. we have a live picture right now, take a look from the emo emoriville camera, the traffic is moving now, it was not that case a while ago but is moving now as the bull packup clears u after the accident. traffic came to a stop after the eastbound lanes were closed. but all lanes reopened about an hour ago. a baby guerilla died in an

accident at the san francisco zoo. yesterday one-year-old kabibe was being put away for the night when she suddenly darted towards the hydraulic door and was crashed. the zoo spokesperson said animal safety is a priority. and preparations are under way for the installation of a center barrier on the golden gate bridge, here now is an artist rendering of what the new median barrier will look like. abc 7 news reporter alyssa harrington has more. >> reporter: this is what it looks like in the driving lane of the golden gate bridge, the only thing that separates drivers are the plastic carts, leaving little room for error. >> when you see the highlights coming your direction it gets a little strange. >> reporter: this is what the same drive should look like early next year. this same photo provided by the golden gate district is scheduled to be placed here.

weekend of january tenth and 11. in san francisco, alyssa harrington, abc 7 news. and ac transit to finish the bus rapid transit. the line promises faster service between downtown oakland and the san leandro service station, they will have their own lane separated from traffic. the $81 million project should be finished by late 2017. and uc berkeley to get must be funding for more years. not everybody is satisfied. student activists held a small rally today. budget concerns had officials looking into private funding to continue operating the facility. but after thousands signed the petition the university has renewed public funding. >> it is not a money-making machine. the goal of the regents, to privatize the university. >> the uc observatory will get

fog in some spots. take a look, san carlos, down to 1/16th of a mile visibility. that is basically pea soup kind of fog. this fog will be around throughout the mid-morning hours. we have no wind to mix up the atmosphere. early tomorrow, fog will be an issue, chilly, 39 in minneapolis, 53 in chicago, snow on the way tomorrow evening, 50s along the coast, new england, 66 in atlanta, 70 in new orleans. back in the golden state, 79, 90 for palm springs, san diego gets to 76 degrees, in the bay area, plenty of sunshine, the one exception right along the coast with fog, 73 for san francisco, 78 for vallejo, 85 for concord. 78 for san jose. and thursday, we'll track the chance of light showers and temperatures much cooler only in the 60s. >> some of us in the news room we're worrying about the lack of
