will join us in a few minutes. an east bay high school is this morning after 14-year-old freshman was kill on the scooter hit by a suspect's car being chased by alameda, sheriff. matt keller is at san lorenzo high school with the latest. it will be a sad day at high school. we learn the victim in this hit-and-run accident is a 14-year-old freshman. the alameda county sheriff says last night at 6:00 the teen was on his scooter in the middle of the crosswalk on east 14th in solano -- a suspect was proceeding southbound. >> when he tried to swerve to get on the correct side of the driving area he hit the boy trying to cross the street. >> witnesses describe the sad

scene with the victim's mother coming out and seeing her son's lifeless body in the street. the boy died at the scene. deputies started the pursuit because of reckless driving but they called it off before the vehicle hit the boy and the driver took off. the core authority is -- coroner is not releasing the name of the victim because of the criminal investigation. happening now, commuter whose take bart from the east bay station have to pay to park. it will cost a dollar a gay to park at the north concord bart station. now only two stations have free parking: hayward and oakland coliseum. they, too, will charge later this month. parking has been free for years at several stations with bart staying it has to change to cover the expenses for 400,000 riders each day. more from this story later in

a crisis team is on hand at richmond high school today to provide counseling and support to help students deal with an escalation in gang-related shootings. 16s have been shot the past week. one is 16-year-old died. most of the victims attend richmond high school. there will be counselors to help students cope and see if they can intervene in the gang violence. the teammate on the basketball team and coaches are organizing a vigil at 5:00 today at the civic center plaza. >> the peninsula, san mateo police are warning residents of an e-mail scam to steal personal information. the topic is "neighbor safety information," with a false report of a child predator moving into the area. police say do not click on the link it likely contains malware that will seven your computer for passwords and credit card information. verify information on predators
