they believe he fell asleep coming home at 4:30 in the morning. >> he should not have been taken away. i mean if he fell asleep at the wheel, fine. but that equipment should have stopped that car. >> as i first discovered last week, darrell blackman hit what is called an end terminal on the guardrail. here is how it's supposed to work the force of the car pushes the end terminal down the length of the guardrail, flattening it into a ribbon of steel. that process gradually slows the car. but lawsuits allege it can lock up, causing the guardrail to pierce the car or kick off, allowing the car to continue on. that appears to be what happened to darrell blackman. his chrysler seebring flipped a post and went upside down.

neighborhoods where he lived and frequented. he was nowhere to be found. >> dan did not leave a note he had scheduled a doctor's appointment of morning of the disappearance. he was scheduled to attend a work event the next day. >> his boss said he did go home sick from bad headaches the day before he went missing. >> he was known as a brilliant software developer involved in several start ups in this video he was being interviewed for one he helped found at stanford. friends say he loved life and had a big heart. >> i cannot imagine suft r.such a sparkling personality being gone from my life. >> his parents thank all of those who worked and prayed for his return.
