live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> protesters in menlo park police protest outside facebook headquarters demanding the right to unionize and negotiate higher pay for those would drive high tech workers to their silicon valley jobs. facebook schultz drivers and their supporters showed up at the headquarters this morning demanding better pay, work conditions and benefits. matt keller is at the campus.

matt? facebook is obviously a leagued tech company in the world and the bus drivers could be blazing a path for themselves in soft -- silicon valley. >> protests rallied in front of facebook headquarters in menlo park this morning showing their support for the bus drivers who shuttle employees to and from the company. they collected 5,000 signatures on a petition on-line demanding facebook respect the rights of bus drivers to organize a union without interference. if they try to drop off a giant printed investigation of the petition they were interfered with. >> we want to town our petition. >> you want to turn in your petition? let me talk to facebook and see if they will let someone represent you. i need you to go back to the public property back there. >> the teamsters say this started when the bus drivers came to them for help. a complaint was working explain

bus is tomorrow with 87 bus drivers casting a ballot. san francisco taxi driver are staging messy aiports over the rules are not fair for uber and lyft and their business is hurt and passengers are paying a rice as well. amy hollyfield is in san francisco with the story at the airport. for is allowing uber and lyft to operate on a 90 day trial period. some employees who work the perimeter and are observing it say the two sides are at war. >> taxi drivers at sfo broke the rules last might and blocked traffic and created gridlock to protest ma they call unfair rules at the airport. >> we protest the special treatment given to private vehicles who use apps to pick up passengers. >> we found out that, yes,

drivers for uber and lyft do have different rules than the taxi drivers, even some passengers question that tactic. >> they need to make it fair for everyone. absolutely. >> i love uber and lyft because it is convenient and it is nice for me. >> it is because of the appointment-based relationship that the airport treats uber and lyft like limousine companies, not taxis. >> taxis have apps but we and not use them we have to wait in lines for decades following the rules. >> true. officials do not allow the taxis to use apps to connect with customers because there are so many they want to keep it fair and instead make them use the walk up process. they can wait at the curb for passengers. uber cannot. the two pay different fees to the airport. cabs pay $2 for a short-term and $4 for a long and uber pays

california. it happened shortly before 4:00 a.m. in an industrial area in ventura county. mandatory evacuation was ordered for all residents a mile of the explosion. a shelter-in-place was issued for residents two to three miles of the area. the fire burned if hours after the initial explosion. haz-mat are on scene trying to determine the cause. mike? >> the clouds are moving in and they are thickening and letting go of the moisture but it is going to evaporate before it reaches the ground today. live doppler hd is quiet. we will zoom out and you can see the area of low-to-upper spinning to our west. ahead of it the cold front will be the first storm to bring us rain in a series of three storms. you want to turn the sprinkler system off now you will probably not need it through saturday.

the storm is 330 miles away. the first storm is tonight affecting the commute and we have two more storms upstraight and the models say each successive storm will bring us a greater amount of rain. i will give you a timetable for that in the seven-day forecast day. >> the national football league suspended adrian peterson without pay for at least the season. he was indicted for physical any -- for felony child abuse after ripping his son hard enough to leave scars. he pleaded guilty to a history but police say he violated the personal conduct policy. the players association says it will appeal the punishment on his behalf. in morning, the san jose city council is hearing a report that wants the police force is shrinking at an alarming rate. according to a media reporter the department may soon fall to the lowest since in 30 years.

a scary wake-up call for residents this chicago when a small plane crashed into a home. authorities say the twin engine crashed into the house before 3:00 a.m. and the people were not hurt. the fire commissioner says the pilot was the only person on board was killed. investigators say he reported engine trouble after taking off from chicago's midway airport and asked to turn around before the crash. >> ought f.b.i. is watching of the possibility of violent protests across the country as

the nation waits to hear whether missouri police officer will face charges for killing an unarmed teen. the f.b.i. says the decision will likely lead some extremist protesters to threaten or attack police officers or federal agents. the missouri governor declared a state of emergency and activated the national guard in anticipation of the decision on whether toen diet the officer in the death. >> this afternoon the senate vote on the controversial keystone xl pipeline after the house of representatives voted to approval it. the supporters in the senate are trying to round up one more "yes," vote to get to 60 and there has been a challenge. the white house has not specifically threatened to veto the bill but it has done so for similar measures. california congresswoman pelosi will keep her job in a unanimous vote this morning, house democrats re-elected her to another two-year term.

west, the dry air is bringing a roadblock but when the sun sets the air will saturate and as we head to midnight you can see scattered light showers and the entire area will get rain in the commute and it will taper in the evening. through thursday morning we are dry but 9:00 on thursday, north bay sweeping south into the heart of the bay as noon and out of the south bay by 5:00 on thursday and that is storm two. storm one is .1" in the santa clara valley and a quarter of an inch elsewhere and double that in the north bay and double that in the higher elevations. the next inform is double the amount of rain from wednesday. saturday is looking like a more impressive storm is about the same as thursday. this is not one of the three or four day events we are used to getting where we tap into the moisture from hawaii. that is just not going to
