knocking at our door. here is a look at live doppler 7hd. >> and the steady rain that is moving in will make for a very soggy morning commute. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm ama dates. finally the wet weather has arrived. here is a live look from our exploratorium camera. >> sand yaw patel is here -- sandhya patel is here. sandhya, just what we need. >> exactly what we need. this pattern is shaping up to be a wet one for the rest of the week. let me show you live doppler 7hd and we will talk about what is going on right now. a lot of moisture up in the clouds. not all of this is reaching the ground. our radar is tracking and some sprinkles are moving across the north bay here. also across the east bay. i will take you in closer around richmond and uh -- orinda getting light returns. as you take a look at the moisture band, really what i'm watching is this area right here. that's what is coming in for your morning commute. as you look at our computer animation, just to give you a

a row. since the beginning of the commercial crab season 400 boats have been delivering a steady stream of crab to pier45. >> we sent two or three last night and every night. >> how much sleep did you get? >> not much. >> many boats have been parked waiting to deliver and crews are pumping in oxygen to keep their catch alive. >> don't have the facilities here to unload anymore than we are. >> what are you dismog. >> sitting on crab. keeping them alive this will they can take them. >> everybody and their brother came down for this opener. >> skipper brian kelly and his crew from fort bragg hauled in 30,000 pounds in the first three days. this all amounts to plenty of overtime for juan who strappedded the rubberbands around the claws of these dung nuss crab. the crabbers are getting $3 a pound and by the time it is

shipped, oiled, cracked and put on your plate at the restaurant, the price is about $10.95 a pound. a lot of good crab this year. it is all two and a half or bigger. >> eventually the crab harvest will thin out and the price will claw its way up. until then crab lovers are being encouraged to come and get it. in san francisco, alan wang, abc7 news. >> developing news out of the east bay where a chp pursuit tore across two interstates. you can see the war weave through 80 reaching speeds 100 miles per hour. officers say they necially -- they initially tried to stop the driver. the chase continued to 580 before ending in east oakland. police took one person into custody. >> and a terrible accident involving three cars left one person dead and brought the evening commute to a halt. it happened on southbound interstate 680 near martinez about 5:15 this evening. you can see from sky heavy -- sky 7hd an overturned suv.

the chp says she lost control of her suv trying to change lanes. the lanes were closed for more than two hours, and as you can see from this picture from our helicopter it just backed up traffic for miles. a san jose pastor is recovering after being attacked right outside his home on communications hill in san jose. it is a place known for its million dollar view and increase in crime. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian has the story. >> these photos were taken after the pastor was attacked last week. tonight he is still in pain and forced to use a cane for support. >> he lives on top of picturesque communication hill where many use the grand stairs for exercise, but at night things change. the problem started when the pastor and his wife came home around a 10:45 at night. they saw a car parked right here, under this no stoping sign after 9:00 p.m.

hydroxide on a cart. it overturned and it broke. it seeped through the second floor and leaked to the floor below. a lab technician went to the hospital as a precaution. a new barbie back for young kids is causing controversy. the book shows barbie venturing into computer engineering, but then a few pages in she needs tech support from her male friends. cornell bernard is live with reaction from parents. cornell? >> reporter: well, ama, this little book is causing big controversy. toys r us is one of the places you can be "barbie, i can be a computer engineer" and some say no thanks because it sends the wrong message to young girls. once upon a time barbie wanted to be a computer engineer. in this book she powers up her laptop hoping to create a video game, but admits she

minutes. he used an electronic reader that looks similar to the ones the city parking enforcement officer uses. i caught up with darlene after she got a ticket in the laurel village parking lot from a company called parking control service. pcs. >> i was trying to find parking. i just wanted to run in and get something to eat. it looked like i couldn't park here. >> who do you think wrote that ticket? >> the meter people? >> no. it is a private company. it has nothing to do with the government. >> oh really? >> yeah. >> so your point? does it mean i don't have to pay it? >> that is the question. the attorney general doesn't think so. in 2011 she issued a legal opinion about this. >> according to the attorney general a landowner does not have the authority to issue these kinds of documents. >> that is david levine.

he is a professor at hastings law school. he says harris' opinion is not law, but could be used as a defense this court. >> when the california attorney general issued an official opinion it technically doesn't have the force of law, but it is very, very persuasive. jay we contacted the san francisco city attorney's office and it had no opinion. across the bay in emeryville, the city attorney and the police department have warned the private parking company about the practices. >> the attorney general's opinion says that they don't have the authority to issue citations with an accompanying fine. we made hour private parking ventures aware of that. >> we reached out and they e-mailed the statement. pcs takes no position on it other than to say it believes its own business practices are lawful.

recently while meeting a friend her car was cited by pcs. >> i felt victimized and i felt really, really angry. >> she went on-line and found harris' opinion so she didn't pay it and has never received a follow-up letter. and now even though the language on the ticket makes people believe that they have to pay the fine, levine believes the pcs doesn't pursue parking charges. >> implied might be a threat to sue somebody in small claims court, but my assumption is they will just take the money they can get when people voluntarily send in the money and call it a day. >> darlene smith is not sure whether she will pay her ticket c. i have a warning for you. it is quite clear by law that private parking lots have the authority to tow a car when it is parked in violation to rules. keep that in mind. michael finney, 7 on your side.

this is wild. a canadian man didn't expect a sky high fee on a flight he took recently. look at this. that is a charge of $1,171. he racked up the wi-fi fee on a sing singapore airlines trip. jeremy is seen here in a youtube video. he says he bought a 30 megabyte plan and visited 39 pages and downloaded a power point. it shows passengers their data use at all times. >> a year's worth of snow is falling in new york state. more than four feet trapped people in their cars for hours. here is a picture showing exactly what people are dealing with. 150 cars were stuck including the basketball team. they are still trapped on their bus and have been waiting 24 hours for rescuers to come. they are trying to make the best of it. the players have been tweeting

some are reporting as much as five feet of snow and still counting. if you are traveling there check for potential delays because they are still looking at more snow. the temperatures right now across the bay area, a wide variety. 48 in fairfield, but 61 where there is a south wind in half moon bay and 60 in hayward. exploratorium camera showing you the cloud cover on the increase. showers arrive during the morning commute. looking at brief, heavy rain on thursday and it is looking wet on saturday ease -- especially for the cal stanford game. morning showers is what we are looking at. thursday's fast mover is right here and saturday's wetter system is back here. warmer storms for saturday. when you look at our computer animation, 8:00 when you are taking the kids to cool you may want to make sure they have their umbrellas with them. if you are grabbing food.

at 5:00 p.m. the showers taper for the evening rush hour. the second storm arrives and it has a little more punch. 10:00 a.m. thursday, dumping moderate to heavy rain. noontime, still crossing the heart of the bay area. we will see pockets of heavy rain through the evening rush hour especially for parts of the east bay. by thursday evening it winds down and the rainfall totals with tomorrow's system up to three quarters of an inch. a 10th to a third of an inch. the second system on thursday brings more rain. it is looking like two to two and a half inches in the mountains. that system will bring snow to the sierra nevada on thursday. tomorrow it will be a rain-snow mix and not much. here in the bay area, upper 40s to the upper 50s. don't leave home without your umbrella. tomorrow afternoon you are looking at scattered showers
