students were shouting during the vote. they voted and then shut down the meeting. they did aprove the tuition hikes. look behind me: no protests here today. nothing like what we saw yesterday. they do have the barricades and several police officers here. they were not needed today. the protest is happening across the bay on the cal campus. students staged a sit in and promised to stay there until their demands are met. the main demand is uc regents not raise tuition but the before has ignored that demand and took the vote moments ago. one region said before the vote he was planning to vote if the hike and he said he didn't want to but said he had no choice. there were a handful of students who spoke before the vote. >> i feel i am a liaison for a lot of students, future students who cannot access the opportunities i have been able to access.

i think i want to deliver a message to you from them and i think it sounds louder than the mike 15 can go. >> the students are being heard. who is not hearing them the governor. all of this is blame on the crust and is blamed on the regents. the truth of the matter is sacramento is underfunded, has under funded the university for 30 years. >> governor brown has said the university has enough money and it needs to live in its means and on senator on a competent to look at the budget and help the university trim. there were administrators from other uc universities including santa cruz, who spoke and said they do need more money. they are doing more with less. they are stretched thin. they did not fell lick it should fall on the back of the students. vote has come. it is official.

we have light-to-moderate rain moving due east. it will head to half moon bay and cross to about san mateo north. we have lighter showers ahead of the initial line moving through the rest of the bay area so all of us are getting wet right new. you can see it marching a little bit to the north of east and building so what will happen as you look at the lightning we will have light-to-moderate rain now through 4:00 and scattered showers with thunder from 2:00 to 8:00 affecting the first part of the raiders game. the final storm affects the weekend plans. that is ahead. >> the death toll from the winter storm in the western new york area continue to climb as another storm moves in. eight death are being blamed on the snow that hit region this week. new york's governor says crews are making progress clearly 6' of snow but the roads are closed with another 3' predicted by the help of today.
