hayward, lisa. >> hi, kris. it has been sogfy in the north bay and the north bay will be the big wins are again with the next system spreading most of the moisture here north of the golden gate. things have been picking up in the last hour. we started out with light rain, mist and drizzle east into the city. now the rain is more moderate from petaluma down toward 101, san after. we are looking at the heaviest returns in southern marin county, over to richmond. things are getting more interesting for you. oakland some spotty, light showers and vallejo. concord looking at light mist and drizzle, as well. it will continue to push south and spread east throughout the morning hours. along the peninsula and the fog bay, not much happening yet. but here's what we are expecting. through the 6:00 hour we will see a little bit heavier cell push through san francisco, but by 9:00 most of the activity is winding down in the north bay and we are looking at the showers in the south bay clearing by noontime. look for numbers in the low to

morning because of police activity. it may have involved a robbery suspect. just an hour later everything was reopened but there's no word on what exactly the police action was all about. s developing news, oakland police are investigating a crash that left two people dead. it happened last night on the corner of 27th street and north gate avenue. along interstate 980. oakland police tell us the car went up on the sidewalk and hit and killed two people. the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with police. this morning the window washer who managed to survive an 11-story fall on to a car in san francisco remains in the hospital. the man was washing windows above montgomery and california streets when he fell yesterday morning. abc7 news reporter alyssa harrington has a witness account you will see only on abc7. >> dan whaley was riding his motorcycle on the way to a doctors point when --.

>> the light turns green and the car in front of me started rolling out and all of a sudden a guy falls from the roof of the building. >> a window washes fell 11 stories from the top of a building in the san francisco district where montgomery meets california. the man landed on his back on a moving car crashing just feet in front of him. it was right in front of him. >> it was so powerful it was like a bomb went off. his car lifted up on its wheels, the whole top of the car is totally dented in. >> the car broke the man's fall and he ended up in the middle of the street, still wearing his harness. willie held the victim's hand and waited for an ambulance. he amazingly escaped unscathed. >> i'm happy, you know, i didn't get hurt and i'm happy that he is okay, hopefully he can make it. >> the victim was rushed to san francisco general hospital. his daughter tells me he's in critical condition.

he worked for century window cleaning, a family-run business based out of concord. on their website it says they are committed to the safety of their clients and employees. cal osha is investigating. the company was cited for safety violations back in 2008. in san francisco, alyssa harrington, abc7 news. also this morning, st. louis and its surrounding suburbs and much of the nation are still waiting for a decision to come down from a grand jury investigating the shooting death of an unarmed teenager in ferguson. new video into the abc7 newsroom overnight shows supporters of michael brown holding a mostly peaceful demonstration last night. however, we learned three were arrested, two were in anonymous type masks. marcie gonzalez is in missouri and tells us this has everyone apprehensive. >> ramping up and getting ready. ferguson, missouri bracing for a grand jury decision on whether or not the officer who shot and killed michael brown will face charges. it could come any day and many

fear it could reignite the problems that plagued this community this summer. >> the city is really in a panic at this point in anticipation of this decision. >> protests have already started. three people were arrested. some worry the protests could get much worse. the fbi is calling in 100 more agents. the national guard is here. and st. louis county police have stocked up, buying 650 teargas grenades, 2,000 plastic handcuffs, 6,000 opinioner balls, and 1500 bean bags filled with chemicals that sting the eyes and nose. the mayor is saying they are simply being cautious. >> we need to be prepared for whatever happens, and we will be. >> president obama urged peace. >> this is a country that allows everybody to express their

views, but using that for an excuse for violence is contrary to rule of law, contrary to who we are. >> a decision could be announced as soon as this weekend. schools in ferguson will be closed as a precaution next week. clayton, missouri. back in the bay area, the city of oakland said it's ready to deal with a big solidarity demonstration expected to take place at frank ogala plaza as soon as the grand jury makes their decision in the brown case. this is video of previous protests. organizers told abc7 news they said they understand some people may be angered by whatever decision is made, but they are encouraging protesters not to be violent. the mayor jean quan said protesters have nothing to fear from police. time is 6:07. students protesters at u. c. berkeley said they will not end occupation of wheeler hall anytime soon.

dozens have been eating and sleeping in the lobby since wednesday night. they say they won't leave until the regents revoke a tuition increase and show more transparency in their budget. the protesters vow to continue their takeover until the thanksgiving break. >> they can certainly dismiss it. saying the city of wheeler isn't directly interfering with their daily lives, but i think it is a growing movement. >> student protesters have also taken over a four-story building at uc santa cruz. the university of california has not made any attempt to remove the students by force. president obama remains in the west this morning. he's waking up in las vegas, one day affair force one touched down so he could sign a new executive order on immigration. and this morning we are learning more details about the man who heckled the commander in chief during his speech at a local high school.

our sister station reports. >> with a student population that's more than half hispanic, this high school served as an ideal backdrop for the president's announcement that he would be moving forward with widespread immigration reform without the support of congress. >> so the actions that i have the legal authority to take that will help make our immigration system more fair and more just, and this morning i began to take some of those actions. >> under the president's order, illegal immigrants who have lived in the country for more than five years with children who are born in america will no longer have to fear deportation, as long as they pass criminal background checks and pay some fees. it was news that prompted an outburst from the crowd. >> i've heard you, young man. i've heard you. and i understand. i've heard you. >> a resident shouted out that the president's new policy still leaves his parents vulnerable to deportation because he was born in mexico.

>> eats hard because so many families are left out. it's not just me, it's so many families. and it's just a way for us to be here longer, that's it. >> the president heard latinos remarks and responded. >> that's right, not everybody will qualify under this provision. that's the truth. and that's the truth. that's why we are still going to have to pass a bill. >> that was spencer reporting. as we mentioned, president obama remains in las vegas this morning and we're are told he is expected to take in a round of golf before departing. >> 6:10 the time. lisa argen here with the accuweather forecast. lisa, still rain out there? >> yeah, no golf today unless you don't mind playing soggy. i think they would throw you out though, wouldn't they? roof camera. temperatures around 60 degrees right now. it's wet out there, san francisco. the rain has been favoring the north bay, and it's beginning to sink south and press eastward as well. it will be out of here for the afternoon. golf could be in the forecast for next week for sure.

>> 6:14 is our time. new this morning, for at least one night bill cosby put all the allegations of sexual abuse behind him and did what he does best, make people laugh. this cell phone video shows cosby receiving a standing ovation as he came out for the show last night in melbourne, florida. there were a few protesters outside the venue expressing their thoughts of the numerous allegations made against cosby in the past week by several women. but for the most part, people were positive. >> i want to make sure these women know that they are being listened to and that they are being taken seriously. >> until proven guilty, he's innocent. >> it's tough for him right any, i'm sure. >> promoters in six different states have cancelled his stand-up tour. cosby has not commented on the

allegations. his lawyer calls them fantastical and unsubstantiated >> an example of courage and technology on display at camp pendleton. marine corps captain derek herrera walked to a ceremony awarding him the bronze star. the fact he was walking is amazing. he was paralyzed by a sniper's bullet two years ago in afghanistan. he's now walking using robotic legs. >> today is not about me. we talk about me the whole time, and i want to tell you the only reason i'm here is because of so many of you here today that's gotten me to the point that i'm able to stand here and talk to you today. you said earlier, maybe a job -- >> you said the golfing. i said jogging. >> barack obama is going golfing. >> yeah. he gets to do it in vegas. >> the rain is raining south into san francisco, spreading east in the east bay. south bay still waiting. we see the rain here. let's go in for a closer look where you can see the green representing the wet weather. heavier rain here by napa. concord, you are getting into the act. we are looking at southern marin county, the bay bridge over in berkeley, wet weather. some very slick roadways here. we've picked i am almost a quarter inch in the north bay since midnight. elsewhere i wish we could spread that good news burks we are still looking wet around:80 in berkeley. piedmont, wet weather. highway 13 it's a little dicey out there this morning. if you are planning on heading out this morning, you can delay it for the afternoon you will have dry conditions.

in fact, some sunshine resulting. san francisco, the bay view down through the sunset, china aa town, you are wet. to south city and milbrae. no delays at sfo. you see a few returns here around san jose. the santa cruz mountains will get the shift, the we will see a half-inch in the santa cruz mountains. down the road in san jose, perhaps a tenth of an inch before noontime. here's the exploratorium. raindrops on the lens. fog half moon bay, 60 in the city. emeryville wet weather. light rain here. take your time-out there. 61 santa rosa. it's milder with the cloud cover. but we have fog, poor visibility and lake tahoe it's heavy rain, blue canyon and truckee reporting 47 degrees. no snow with this system in the sierra nevada. snow levels upwards of 9,000 feet. rain sinking south, fred to go

the east this morning. then we are partly sunny this afternoon. sunny skies, offshore winds, botch average temperatures beginning by tuesday. and certainly by wednesday we will be well into the 70s. more rain traps next weekend. here's a look at the front that continues to push southward. so not a whole lot of activity with it, but we have the moisture that will be running out in the coastal hills and the north bay along the santa cruz mountains. we are getting some decent rain. really it's better than nothing. although the dynamics are more the moisture favors the north bay. by 9:00 you can see it's cloudy in the north bay. maybe a few showers. we will have some east bahrain, some peninsula showers, and activity still happening in the south bay through about noon. then we are looking at sunny conditions and temperatures in the 60s. so rainfall amounts widely carrying from anywhere from upwards of a half-inch to an inch north bay. a quarter inch around the

vulnerable to becoming victims of a common crime. you've seen this before. package thieves swiping deliveries directly off the doorsteps of homes. as abc7 news reporter jonathan bloom shows us, it's a problem one san francisco tech start-up is trying to stop. >> if you shop online you have probably gotten one of these. >> you get a little note on your door and you have to play tag and go pick it up. >> consider what could happen if they leave it there. you've seen the surveillance video. strangers walking up to the door and making off with the merchandise. >> the trucking number said it was delivered, but i never got the package. >> it happens all year long, but more around the holidays. all those gifts left on doorsteps are huge gifts to thieves. >> people at their home in the middle of the day to wait for a package to show up? >> the post office and shipping carriers deliver during the day, the time when most people are supposed to be at work. here in san francisco start-ups are trying to come to the rescue. >> i always felt i was being

i'm kris many we are on the storm watch this morning. a quick look outside with some of our abc7 news camera. this is the golden gate bridge. you sigh rain is falling down. no major accidents to report, though. you can see the rain is contributing to the wet roadways there. moving over to our kgo roof cam, a live look outside at san francisco. what a beautiful shot as we are waking up on this saturday morning. switching it over to the south bay. clear conditions there for you on highway 87 past the shark tank. meteorologist lisa argen here now with live doppler 7hd. lisa, when is the rain going to stop? >> kris we have a wet saturday morning and through the afternoon for the big game and the rest of the bay area will be enjoying sunshine. let's take you on a little radar tour where most of the activity right now in the north and east bay. ka can see the front is pushing through parts of richmond into oakland, san francisco, san rafael. we've picked up about a third of an inch on top of mt. tam. only a couple hundredth here and

oakland and berkeley. more is coming here. you are looking at some wet weather down through almeda. piedmont, it has been raining for you over into san francisco. the bay view down through brisbane. ing south city it's been wet, but about .05 right any. a long the peninsula, half moon bay, and montero looking at wet weather. over into the foothills it's been wet, as well. it will take some time and you will have much less around san jose. perhaps a tenth of an inch while in the north bay we could see upwards of an inch. rain. morning rain, afternoon sun. upper 60s around the bay and inland, lower 60s coast. then much dryer in the days ahead. >> thank you, lisa. bart's new people mover finally opens up to the public

in about an hour. it connects the oakland bart station to the airport. lilian kim went for a ride. >> the new driverless bart trains connecting the coliseum station to oakland international deals with no street congestion or traffic. it runs for 3.1 miles. it's an elevated track. cables along the way pulls the three car trains that travels at 30 miles an hour. >> i like the fact you are able to see all of the communities while you are riding along. it was a really nice ride. >> bay area leaders gathered at the platform to celebrate the completion of the nearly half billion dollars project. it was 30 years in the making with funding troubles and community push back along the way. >> there were some, what you would legitimately say were legitimate naysayers about the cost of this project. and, yes, now that it's open, and now that people will use it, you will not hear that naysaying.

>> the train ride will cost three dollars more than a ride on the bus, but people who showed up aren't complaining. >> i think it's more convenient to hop on the train rather than waiting for the bus and trying to get my luggage up on to a bus. >> the trains will arrive at the platforms every five, ten or 20 minutes, depending on the time of day. in oakland, lilian kim, abc7 news. we are now hearing from the stockton 14-year-old that's at the center of the video going viral across the country. as we first showed you yesterday, the video shows a stockton p.e. teacher trying to drag the 14-year-old into a swimming pool. this morning that teacher is now facing charges. reporter tim daily from our sister station kxtv has more. >> it made me feel so uncomfortable. >> this is the edison high school freshman seen on the video that's exploded on the internet. sandra garcia agreed to swim laps in that p.e. class, but when she didn't want to get her hair wet, she got out of the

pool and sat in the bleachers. before another student started shooting that struggle, sandra said the teacher, denny peterson, went to her and grabbed her. >> he brought me down and i was on the stairs thinking he would stop, but he grabbed me by my ankles and started to pull me down. i was hollering, stop, leave me alone, can't be touching me. >> it happened in august. cops were called and peterson was put on paid leave for a month, but then brought back and assigned to another stockton school. that's why sandra and her mom are so angry and talking. they can't believe peterson was back on a campus. >> time goes by and then i find out he's working at an elementary now where girls are more vulnerable, they are younger, and he's working? >> it was this week we learned peterson takes the misdemeanor charge of corporal injury to a child, but stockton unified wasn't aware of that until news 10 told the district. now peterson is back on paid leave. the garcias say these are

mountain resort camera right now showing some rain out there. no snow on the ground, but as we learned earlier, those resorts taking matters into their own hands and making snow with those machines. lisa argen will have that full forecast coming up in a little bit. she will let us know if any snow is on the way. all right. in the south bay now, san jose could become the next city to legalize short-term rental services such as air b & b. what it would mean for people who call san jose home, plus visitors coming to the city. >> in the heart of silicon valley, a growing trend. more travelers books rooms through air b&b. for a local tech exec and air b&b host, it's a chance to meet friends while making extra cash.

>> it's helping people find better ways to stay in cities and for people to utilize their house to help people, it's been a good service. >> but under consideration in san jose, a pilot program that would regulate short term housing within the city. >> but there seems to be some limit so we aren't displacing a a supply of rental properties. >> it would allow hosts to rent out their homes for up to 180 days a year. any regulation where the host would also be present would not be subject to the rule. but visitors would have to pay a 10% tax on any stays below 30 days. >> it will provide a level playing field between hotels and air b&b and that is fair. >> taxes would go into the city 's general fund. they said it's key for san jose to put rules in place but stress the importance of getting it right. >> i just want to make sure we have the appropriate outreach and we are hearing all the concerns of the community because it's a pretty important step. >> for now, he said interest in air b&b is quite high and he's hoping the ordinance doesn't chase people away. >> almost every day someone is

rain. most of it has been lights but we are looking at the front spreading the rain into danville right now. 580 looking at wet weather around oakland. we will see morph this throughout the morning hours over into parts of pay ward and castro valley. pretty soggy for you for wet pavement. we look at much of the bay bridge, the golden gate bridge wet, burlingame getting wet. we have what we call the rain shadow effect that's keeping parts of the peninsula and the south bay dry for now. but the santa cruz mountains picking up some showers. this will continue to sink south. we will tim it out for you in just a couple minutes. first live cameras. of the the exploratorium camera. upper 50s to about 60 in the city with some fog creating visibility issues. you see the wet roadways from emeryville. also wet on 80. 58 degrees concord, 63 in livermore. take a look at the rain in the

sierra nevada. snow levels well above 8500 feet. we are talking upper 40s right now. more rain showers throughout the day today. partly sunny this afternoon. we will look for sunshine, above-normal temperatures with an offshore flow by early next week. here's the front. it continues to sag south, bringing welcome rain. most rain will fall north of the golden gate. we could see about an inch. here's the way it plays out throughout the rest of the day. front continues to sink south, pushing the rain along the peninsula, the south bay, and we will look for it to clear on out of here after about 11:00 and see some sunshine with some mild temperatures. amounts will vary widely with upwards of a half-inch to an inch in the north bay. coastal hillsal hills 35 to quarter inch. you can see about a tenth out toward miranda, livermore and a tenning or less throughout the south bay. but the santa cruz mountains about a half-inch.

not bad but we will dry out considerably after this system. mid-60s oakland, 65 palo alto, 64 santa cruz today. if you are headed over to berkeley this morning, it is soggy. but by the afternoon no problems, partly sunny, low 60s throughout the day. accuweather forecast bright and sunny tomorrow after some fog. then we look for warming temperatures monday, tuesday, wednesday we are talking well above average. these could be conservative numbers. then cooler for thanksgiving but still dry. looks like the rain arrives next weekend again. so nice time to dry out. >> i'm glad you mentioned the berkeley, you know, weather situation there because on yuly a lot of people will be waking up looking out their window and saying, oh, no, it's going to be washed out, but no problem. thanks, lisa. turning to sports. big game is hours away. stanford will try to beat cal are for the fifth straight time to retain the axe. kickoff at 1:00 p.m.
