stolen vehicle and trespassing. the search for a missing surfer in san mateo county has been called off as rescuers spent six hours looking for him near pacifica's rockaway beach. witnesses called 9-1-1 reporting a surfer in distress at 4:45. he was wearing a black wet suit and was separated from the board. he was face down in the water 100 yards offshore. the police and firefighters from san mateo and pack can aided in the search. the pacifica police and the coroner are investigating the death of a five-year-old girl who drowned in the bathtub bathing unattended at the family home on saturday. a relative walked into the bathroom and found the child underwater. paramedics tried cpr but she was pronounced dead at the hospital. her identity is not released.
