businesses in oakland say they have simply had enough. they are criticizing the city and the police department for not doing enough to stop the vandalism. protesters tore through the city for a second night looting stores, setting fires and blocking two freeways. in total, police arrested 92 people. good afternoon. i'm larry beil. >> i'm ama daetz. several dozen chp officers from sacramento have been moved to oakland just in case there is more trouble tonight. >> in ferguson, missouri, the arrests continue along with protests over the grand jury's decision not to charge the officer who shot and killed michael brown. >> more police and national guardsmen are ready for possibly a third night of protests. there were fewer problems last

night on the streets, though. >> abc news reporter marcy gonzalez with more from ferguson, missouri. >> reporter: today, more protests. demonstrators trying to charge into st. louis city hall. police arresting at least three people. >> this crowd is a little edgy. that's fine. they are right to be. but it's also the police officers, it's our police department's responsibility to keep everybody safe. >> reporter: across the country the anger over a grand jury's decision not to indict officer darren wilson for killing michael brown is loud and clear. in an exclusive interview with abc's george stephanopoulos, wilson defended his actions. >> i just did my job. i followed my training. >> reporter: and shared his message for michael brown's parents. >> i'm sorry that their son lost his life. it wasn't the intention of that day. so yes, there is remorse.

>> reporter: brown's mother called wilson's explanation of the shooting insulting and disrespectful. >> they were taken back looking at the interview because they felt that he had no regard for their child and that was hurtful to them. >> reporter: still, they are pleading for peace after two straight nights of violence in ferguson. though last night's demonstrations weren't nearly as disruptive as the night before, there were at least 45 arrests in ferguson last night. now police and the national guard say they are prepared for the potential of more problems tonight. marcy gonzalez, abc news, ferguson, missouri. >> brown's parents spoke publicly today for the first time since the grand jury decision. brown's mother says it broke her heart. >> we heard it and it was just like i had been shot. like you shoot me now. just no respect, no sympathy, nothing. >> when asked about officer

darren wilson's account of the events, brown's parents say they do not believe that their son tried to grab the officer's gun. they say they're hurt and taken aback by wilson's statements that he has a clean conscience and couldn't have done things any differently. sky 7 hd shows protests in oakland that turned violent last night. at least one demonstrator claims he was beaten up after trying to stop people from vandalizing a building. g.p. walker says the turning point for him came when people began spray painting the outside of a masonic temple in oakland. >> this is all black folks. why spray paint on this? an altercation ensued from that and four or five cats tried to jump me, do spray paint cans and different things. part of today was spent cleaning up. a series of recent protests have turned violent. here's abc news reporter amy hollyfield. >> reporter: oakland residents

are getting used to seeing damage like this after a protest but it's usually downtown. this time, it creeped into a neighborhood. it hurt locally owned businesses. >> real close to home. it's like it makes it more even scarier. >> reporter: workers at a deli were stunned this morning to see two of their windows had been smashed by vandals. the family-owned deli opened in 1926. >> all you can do is clean up and keep your head up and move forward and hopefully it doesn't happen to anybody else. >> reporter: it happened to several other businesses last night on telegraph avenue starting with the kelley moore paint store. >> i watched everybody go into the paint store, run out with cans of paint and start throwing them everywhere. i just thought we're next. >> reporter: eric marquez and another business owner then stood in front of the arbor cafe to try to create a barrier from the vandals. the cafe's door was broken but then the crowd moved on. >> i would like to tell you i was brave but my knees were shaking. >> reporter: an older man was

hurt when someone threw a paint can at his face. he was standing with a pastor pleading for peace when he was hit. the group set several fires on telegraph and pillaged businesses including a car dealership and t-mobile store. the protests also moved into emeryville, where some in the group raided the trunk of a car parked inside a garage. >> this morning i had a gentleman come by and ask to help us clean up. >> reporter: loyal customers of genova's are rallying around the business to try and help it recover. they also have a plea for those who spent the last two nights creating so much damage. >> i wish people would stop doing the things they're doing because it's not making things better. all it's doing is making it worse. >> reporter: a total of 13 businesses were damaged in this area last night. this is one of the big names but officials are saying seven of those businesses are small locally independently owned. organizers with the business improvement district tell us they are frustrated they didn't see any arrests being made while these businesses were being

looted. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> we are following the protests from the ferguson decision online and on the air. coverage continues on twitter. a person who was just walking down the street in san francisco was hurt today when a car suddenly jumped the curb and hit a pole. this happened around 2:30 this afternoon near charles brennan place and mcalister in san francisco. the impact was so hard it knocked down the traffic light which hit the pedestrian. witnesses say this was a violent accident. >> apparently either lost consciousness or got his foot stuck on the gas pedal, drove up this curb. luckily the curb stopped him or he would have went through the gate. he hit a pedestrian and also the traffic light hit the pedestrian on the way down. >> both the driver and pedestrian were taken to the hospital. the extent of their injuries is not known right now. another woman is going public with accusations that

bill cosby drugged and raped her and she says it happened here. 73-year-old donna motsinger says she met cosby at a jazz club. she was one of 12 women who remained anonymous but agreed to testify against cosby in a civil rape case he settled in 2005. she says she is speaking out now because she feels like the alleged victims are being blamed. >> at the time i thought it's all my fault, what did i do. oh, you're so stupid, you can't tell anybody. like i was trying to raise my 8-year-old by myself, i was a single parent. this man was so powerful. at the time i think he might have been the most powerful person you could have ever known. >> she says she was a waitress at the jazz club when she met cosby. she says he picked her up in a limo, gave her a drink and a pill she thought was aspirin. she lost consciousness. cosby's rep has not returned

requests for comment. workers cleaning up a huge mess at the san francisco chanel store caused by thieves who ran their car through the back window last night. they were able to get through the gate and snatch up six handbags, each worth several thousand dollars. police are looking at surveillance video from the union square store to get a description of those thieves. the store reopened this afternoon after that back window was covered up. wind chill weather has arrived in washington, d.c. the white house blended right in as snow fell earlier today. looks nice from here. all that snow probably seemed much less picturesque if you happened to be one of the millions of americans trying to get somewhere. lines stretched at airports as weather forced airlines to cancel nearly 700 flights nationwide, according to flight aware.com. >> it's probably going to be delayed several hours. it usually happens when i fly. >> you haven't seen any delays of your flight yet? >> not yet. >> mother nature kind of threw a little bit of a curveball at us

this week. we had some warm weather monday and tuesday, and the possibility of significant snowfall this afternoon and tonight. >> nothing says the holidays like travel problems. drivers faced sloppy conditions on highways stretching from north carolina through new england. our weather here has been pretty mild so the getaway is easier on the freeways. >> a little, but roads have been jammed this afternoon. let's take a look at live conditions right now. sky 7 hd live over the 580/680 interchange in dublin/pleasanton. the backup with the big trucks, that's on 580. it's normally heavy in the afternoon. this is nothing unusual there. let's move on, take a live look at 80 in emeryville. this is a disaster. it's been backed up since 1:00 in the afternoon. the mcarthur maze right here, oncoming traffic trying to get to berkeley on 80 east and it's just been a mess for most of the afternoon. little better for those folks making the right heading back to san francisco. and to the north bay we go for a

look at san rafael. the oncoming traffic is heading into san rafael on 101 south. this is normally the heavier side of the commute in the afternoon. doesn't look too bad in either direction for folks heading back on the right side to san francisco tand the golden gate bridge looks decent. dave louie at the airport. >> you can see the traffic on the right-hand side of the screen. what's happening on the ground? >> reporter: we are starting out on the other side of the freeway in millbrae where people are starting to fill up their tanks. gas prices have been dropping about ten cents in the past two weeks for regular gas, giving some to think about whether to hop in the car rather than jump on an airplane. regular gas is down a hefty 88 cents a gallon from early may when it reached a peak. the owner of this gas station, rob baker, jokes that his customers can now fill up and

get change back from a $100 bill. a family taking a 300 mile trip is expected to save $7.62 compared to a year ago. not exactly a windfall but with fill-ups costing less, the trend is making driving cheaper. in the following weeks, drivers are weighing the advantage of jumping into their cars or suvs instead of hopping on to a plane to get to holiday gatherings. >> my daughter is in the marines in yuma. we were going to go down and visit her. we are considering to drive instead of fly. that way we will have our car available to use while we're there. >> reporter: the gas prices are a big help. >> absolutely. >> i think last year at this time it was $4.19. $3.19 right now at our gas station. >> reporter: we did get across the freeway to sfo where it's very busy today but the specter of stranded passengers did not materialize as snowstorms in the northeast threatened to delay some flights. hundreds of flights were canceled today cross the country but this afternoon, the situation at sfo was good.

inflators are defective. at least five deaths have been blamed on those airbags. so far, takata limited its recall to states that experience high humidity but two of the inflators have ruptured in vehicles outside that high humidity zone. drivers can get hurt by flying metal fragments when the airbags deploy. today is a special day for a marin restaurant owner and his staff who are getting ready right now to serve a thanksgiving feast to hundreds and it's all for free. >> abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman joins us live in san rafael with more. wayne? >> reporter: it is a thanksgiving feast but a thanksgiving feast with a twist. no turkey. indian food. these people, the first in line, a line that within half an hour will stretch around the block. the owner of this place has done it for ten years and is very thankful himself. let's follow the man who is about to serve more than 1,000 people tonight out of two restaurants and all for free.

and dry day, thanksgiving day, but then we have a series of storms coming our way. the first one arriving in the north bay friday night so let's get right to the forecast animation. we will start this at 9:00 friday morning, at which point it will be mostly cloudy cross the bay area. then late friday afternoon we will see rain developing first in the north bay and then it will continue to spread and intensify overnight. by 3:00 saturday morning, we will be looking at widespread rain, not likely to be heavy rain across the board but widespread rainfall and then we will continue the animation into midmorning saturday, about 10:00 saturday morning. we will see little breaks developing in the rain but that doesn't mean it's going to be the end of it. the heavier rain will come on sunday, monday and perhaps even tuesday so here's our early estimate for rainfall totals projecting ahead to wednesday of next week. we could see three to five inches of rainfall in the wettest spots in the north bay and that's a pretty good soaking which we badly need.

in news making headlines at 4:30, a woman claiming bill cosby drugged and raped her while he was in the bay area performing. 73-year-old donna notsinger says she met cosby 43 years ago at a jazz club. she says she is speaking out now because she feels like his alleged victims are the ones being blamed. business owners and residents boarded up windows and cleared debris today after two nights of unrest over that grand jury decision in the michael brown case. while a second night of protests in oakland also left a string of damage behind. it was concentrated in one neighborhood. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony has that part of the story and tweets out angry biz leaders quote, the repeated failure of opd, the oakland police department, to distinguish between protected protest and criminal vandalism is unacceptable. her live report is coming up on

abc 7 news at 5:00. in cleveland, police have released a video showing a 12-year-old boy being shot by an officer. he was carrying a toy gun. it was missing the orange safety indicator and he was pointing that gun at people. the department is defending the officer's actions. >> reporter: this newly released surveillance video shows the final moments of 12-year-old tamir rice's life. you can see the child pointing a toy gun at this cleveland park saturday when he shot and killed by 26-year-old officer timothy lowman ten feet away. >> you have officers out there protecting the public that had to do something that nobody wants to do. >> reporter: this is the toy gun. its orange safety indicator removed. officers say they ordered tamir to show his hands three times and drop the weapon. when he appeared to reach for the gun and was shot twice.

dispatchers never told the officers that the initial 911 caller believed the weapon was not real. tamir's family asks that this video be released as hundreds protesting his shooting now join nationwide demonstrations over the michael brown shooting in ferguson, missouri. the two cleveland officers involved are now on administrative leave pending an investigation. officer lowman was just appointed to the force in march. his partner that day, a certified field training officer. abc news, los angeles. >> ruth bader ginsburg is recovering after having a stent implanted in her heart today. that stent cleared a blocked artery. doctors discovered the blockage after ginsburg experienced discomfort while exercising last night. she is expected to stay in the hospital for two days. the 81-year-old has never missed a day in court despite a series of health problems, including

two different bouts with cancer. ginsburg has served on the high court since 1993. crews in rome are working to repair damage caused by a tourist at the coliseum. you can see in this photograph the russian tourist carved a large k on to a wall of that ancient structure. the 42-year-old was spotted last friday using a large stone to carve his name. he has been fined $25,000 and was given a suspended sentence of four years in prison. vandalism is a huge problem at some of rome's ancient sites. the walls around the edge of the coliseum are covered with carved names. this was the fifth incident of vandalism by a tourist in just the past year. those racing down the freeway in silicon valley may be catching a glimpse of racy billboards lining the freeway. >> when the economy booms t billboards become really expensive real estate. abc 7 news reporter chris winn joining us with a look at these unusual ads. chris? >> reporter: good afternoon to you. live along 101 in san jose,

where holiday traffic has already begun. if you take a look behind me, you can see a lot of red lights in the distance there. when you are stuck in traffic, what are you more likely to notice? you mentioned billboards and chances are it is going to be that billboard that you pay attention to. because of the traffic, businesses that are looking to advertise consider 101 to be some very prime real estate. in recent years, this stretch of the 101 has seen a different type of traffic. >> the tech community is really using that as an information highway for what they're trying to promote. >> reporter: we may live in a digital world but more tech companies are going old school, turning to billboards above the ground. in fact, you might have locked eyes with this half naked nerd. the president of dice, the business behind the campaign that's turning heads, they create tools that help companies connect with technology talent. >> we are getting a lot more inquiries. requests for demos as well as

finding out more about the product itself. >> reporter: the ads seem to be connecting with commuters, too. >> it definitely made me laugh. i thought it was pretty clever to have something that catches people's -- something that they are unexpected. definitely thought it was a good ad. >> reporter: according to outfront media, billboard spending in the bay area has doubled since 2011. one of these boards can cost up to $55,000 per month. eric serves as president of xoom, a conferencing tool used around the world. he says billboards can be a point of pride among silicon valley techies. >> every employee spends so much time on the highway. they say wow, this is great. this is our billboard. they feel very proud of that. >> reporter: more importantly, a direct link to the consumer. >> as the marketplace continues to get more fragmented with social meade why and different

the whole thing is about his ears. he's a 4-year-old german shepherd ear dancing, if that's such a thing, with a little help from his owner, stephanie to the song "low low low." he's in perfect sync. >> instead of bobbing your head he's moving his ears. >> that's all he can do. the video from indiana has been seen nearly 90,000 times since it was posted earlier this month. low, low, low. now to an amazing story about perseverance of a pooch. >> this is remarkable. he was taking part in the adventure racing world championship in ecuador and they came across this stray dog. one of the team members fed the dog part of a meatball. that started a powerful new friendship. >> the dog followed the team along the grueling 430 mile race, determined to stick with them no matter what, including the kayak part of the competition.

well, this is really a no frills airline. russian passengers pitched in to get their flight moving after a regional airliner got stuck in the frozen ground. winter comes pretty early to siberia. the temperature plunged to minus 61 degrees fahrenheit. the eager passengers, i imagine you are plenty eager at 61, pushed the plane by leaning on both wings. they turned it and the tow truck took over. the plane flew safely to its destination. local officials, not amused by this. they have launched an investigation into a possible breach of safety regulations. one group is making sure everyone in san francisco has a happy thanksgiving. the salvation army brass band kicked off carving day at the salvation army today. san francisco police chief, the

>> reporter: ryan and bonnie allowing gma on the lookout to visit their house. for logan to test their home alarm system, provided by adt, one of the leading home security companies. >> you want peace of mind. you want to be able to go to sleep knowing that you're safe. >> we are probably 100 feet from the house right now. >> reporter: to test the system, logan uses a laptop equipped with special software, an antenna and this device that checks radiofrequencies from wireless alarm systems. logan showing us three ways he's able to interfere with their system. first, he says a false alarm caution the homeowner to receive a signal on their keypad. then a closed door is open. homeowners may think they need to open and close the door to reset the system. potentially leaving them open to an intruder. >> that was way too easy. >> reporter: his second demonstration is even more startling. where he completely disarms their system. >> all i have to do here is hit play.

one question, when i make purchases from small business owners and they charge it on their phone through square, i'm worried my card information on their phone can be stolen. is that true? >> no. but i'm really glad you are thinking that way. we all need to think more and more about security. great question. here's the bottom line. we have talked with square about this. they say when they take the card, the second they swipe it, right then it's encrypted. then that information is sent also right then. so there isn't anything on that phone and even if there was it would be impossible for them to figure it out. i need to return something i bought four days ago and the store is refusing to accept my return. can they do that? >> okay. you may have a way out of this. here's how it works in the state of california. the return and exchange policy can be anything the store wants it to be, anything, but it has to tell you first. so go back to the store and if at the cash register, there isn't a sign on the cash register or behind or somewhere where you would obviously see it

in the store, if you can't find it, then they have to take a return for seven days. that's california state law. if you don't post it, it's seven days return. >> good to know. >> and via facebook, a gas station is literally stealing money from their customers. the meter on the pump continues to run after i have stopped pumping the gas. who do i report this to? >> boy. now that we are paying less for gas. what you do is go to your county weights and measures department. in the state of california it's done county by county. they all have a weights and measures department. the problem is during the recession a lot of those really got cut back. still, complain to them, especially the gasoline they run out very quickly. give them a call. you might be able to get them at the end of today or call them on monday and they will jump on this very quickly. weights and measures. >> what's tonight at 11:00? >> i'm glad you asked. i have an amazing report. are you getting what you paid for from your broadband or
