arrested in oakland for vandalizing a patrol car during demonstrations. last night protesters matched downtown against a grand jury decision not to indict a white police officer in new york city in the death of an unarmed black suspect. though made it to the fruitvale bart station which was shut down for 30 minutes at 10:00 perform out of precaution. the demonstration started early with a rally at the plaza and a crowd of 150 quickly swelled to more than 400 protesters. police are preparing for more protests today and tomorrow. in san francisco demonstrators blocked market street for a short time and that forced muni to re-route several bus lines. market street re-opened around 8:00. the bay area is among numerous regions where protests popped up including new york city and dozens of other major united states cities.
