beat and the thing about this morning, i want to note there is an accident in san francisco and this is southbound along 101 and it is right at caesar chavez headed out of the city to 280 it is blocking one lane with no word on injuries. walnut creek, 680, southbound, tail lights are pushing to the highway. not too many out there now. everything is clear. we do not have fog. a change from yesterday. >> you are saying we will need our dog teams to get through the rain tomorrow? >> mush. mush. mush. yes, dog teams. >> maybe that is more effective than the cars. >> crews are working nonstop on everything from roads to power equipment to prepare if the problems expecting to result. nick is in fremont with the details. absolutely.

we are expecting bay area winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour in urban areas and 70 to 80 miles per hour in the mountains and hills. that means this could be the storm of the decade and crews and people are preparing. take a look at the video we have been shooting across the bay area. marin county is getting set to activate the extreme emergenciation and make reverse 9-1-1 calls to homeowners if needed. mill valley has put up a sign telling folks to be ready and sandbags here are in place at the shopping center after this water pump failed last week during the storm and there was flooding. roger hopes it doesn't happen again. several businesses lost windows. merchandise was stolen. there were arguments among the protesters, some pleading to keep it peaceful. one man lost a tooth in the fight. other protests are planned today. one group wants to shut down the federal building in oakland if there are protests ton it would be the 5th night in a row but the rain is supposed to roll in tonight and it will be interesting to see if that play as role in whether they continue to protest. we are reporting all week on the issue of race and justice in america. george stephanopolis will moderate this morning a townhall session on facebook with reports on "good morning america" and "world news tonight." >> the sonoma county board has approved contracts to equip 250 sheriff deputies with body cameras a recommendation made after the fatal shooting of

twitter@abc7newsbayarea. >> the prosecution in south africa have given permission to appeal the acquittal of oscar pistorius and in october, he was acquitted of murdering his girlfriend reeva steenkamp. he shot her through a bathroom door saying he thought she was an intruder. oscar pistorius was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison. the prosecution will new go after a murder conviction. the prosecution in san francisco and los angeles are suing uber over claims they are misleading discuss informs about the drivers. they falsely claimed that the driver background checks are superior to those of taxi drivers but he says the company refuses to use fingerprint checks providing most rigorous screening and the only way to determine the driver's true identity. uber is we aring with -- working with authorities on this. lyft faces similar charges.

connection to highway 92. the c.h.p. says the car crashed into an abandoned car parked on the right shoulder at 10:30. one person died at the cent and another was taken to the hospital with major injuries and a third suffered minor injuries. several lanes were blocked on 880 and 92 making it tough to get to the san mateo bridge and the sig-alert was issued but it was cleared and the connection re-opened at 2:30 this morning. the san jose city council has voted to enforce a 10 percent tax on those who book a short-term residential hall charged to rooms in traditional hotels. the vote legalized the on-line home sharing service which was prohibited although 300 san jose home uppers were representing rooms or the entire home. san jose now joins san francisco and portland in enforcing the first airbnb tacks with other cities expected to follow.
