the effects of the storm linger. some homes were damaged by falling trees and flooding. good evening, everybody. i'm larry beil in for dan ashley. >> i'm ama-daetz. happening now, a break in the rain. our live look shows clouds lingering and more rain is on the way. >> so far in this rainy season, the rainfall is 175% of average. santa rosa, 154. livermore, 198. san jose, 241%. jay we have live team coverage on the damage from our downpour. we begin with spencer christian to see what live doppler 7hd looks like. >> let's go to live doppler 7hd and i will tell you that

the steady continuous rain ended and we have pockets of light rainfall developing. one moving across the peninsula right now near san bruno. this is not heavy rain and there have been locally heavy downpours, and we are still under a flood advisory for the bay area until faff:00 tomorrow morning because of the saturated ground and the heavy rain we have had. the rainfall total since wednesday afternoon you can see between six and seven inches in the north bay and three to four inches for the reinned maker of the bay -- remainder of the bay area. we go into the middle of the day and the rain is disappearing and giving way to at least a sunny start to the weekend. how the weekend will finish. this storm did so much damage. take a look. this huge oak tree crashed on to this home in san mateo. heartbreaking for any homeowner. take a look at what the home looked like until today. this picture is from a real estate agent's website. the homer closed yesterday.

>> reporter: the good news for that family is that he still have the -- they still have the home they are living in right now. they haven't moved into the brand-new home. there was no one there when that tree came down. however, here in belmont there is an entire mobile home park that has been evacuated because of flooding. right now you can see that it is red tagged. there was earn c that a lot of the -- there was concern that a lot of the flooded out water was contaminated. crews started pumping water from the mobile home park. residents tell us the management's pumps were overwhelmed by the rain. >> definitely some of the houses go the the water inside. hopefully it didn't go inside, but it was pretty high. >> they were not allowed to get inside to see the extent of any damage. 85 homes have been evacuated. the whole park is red tagged because standing water may be contaminated. down the peninsula and redwood

city, two other mobile home parks will be red tagged. >> we will be here to pump out any standing water and they will be working with the owner on working how to clean the facility. >> crews mobilized quite a response using a boat to help some residents out. nearly 60 people from the lamar mobile home park was evacuated during the storm and still out of their homes tonight. in san mateo, this massive oak caused quite a mess. >> there was a tree that had fallen on our house and here we are. >> she says the tree came down this morning around a 10:00. around 10:00. she showed us. no one was inside when the tree came down because they hadn't moved in yet. they just bought the place. >> they have to cut it down and get rid of it and then use a crane to lift it out of the garage. >> they want to cover the gaping holes in parts of the roof with tarps before the next storms come. abc7 news. >> a giant eucalyptus tree

crashed through a house, inches away from people asleep at the time. sphort natalie nobody was -- fortunately nobody was outer h. it hit the main building and two bedrooms. the rushing river is receding and that's good news for people in sonoma con tee. but so much damage has been done and to those who lost everything to floodwaters it will take awhile to recover. katie continues our team coverage. katie? >> in someplaces the water is nearly gone. it had puddling water, and mow it is totally dry. i talked with a couple earlier who lived in their 40-foot fifth wheel at an adjacent park. they barely got out ahead of the flood and their home is gone. >> i pretty much lost everything. >> stephanie and her husband thought they would have 72 hours to evacuate their mobile home park. but they didn't.

jay about 40 minutes later we had to leave. there was a foot of water in the yard. >> they got out with clothes and their car, but they didn't have a truck to move their fifth wheel trailer. >> when we got up to look at it and we have seen that our trailer was swept away, i think we may have found part of the roof stuck in the tree where it used to be at. >> now they are relying on the service agency for help. the agency is also their employer. they work helping the homeless. >> we want to get them settled and out of crisis. they are anxious to come back to work, believe it or not. >> we will be starting over, but it is a good place to start. >> in the nearby mill court neighborhood, the water is waste high in someplaces. firefighters shared these pictures. they had to evacuate a family including two young children from their home with a boat. others suffered a muddy mess and hours of clean up.

>> the last time it came up and surrounded the house a little bit. this year it got in the garage and in >> people had to go and shut off their propane and open up some gates. just trying to help a little bit. >> and the work continues. another neighbor fighting water with water. abc7 news. >> the damage is worse than first thought. at a san jose safeway store where the ceiling came crashing down there are two gaping holes in the roof. the city's building inspector now has to determine if the store is strk tour rally -- structurally sound enough to be repaired. the storms sweeping across california. the heavy rain is expected to add several feet of snow to parts of the sierra. the snowpack has increased to 40%. the water officials say the big storms would need to continue throughout the winter to make a significant impact on on the drought. the snowpack is important because it raw problem knishes

the reservoirs when it melts during the summer months. a tornado, yes a tornado touched down in south los angeles during a heavy rain storm. a witness captured the terrifying scene on video. the tornado moved over 10 blocks ripping off a roof and damaging five homes in several cars. they have never seen anything like this. >> it closed the door on me. >> i looked up and saw things blowing anywhere. it was scary. >> the tornado hit before 9:30 this morning. wind speeds between 65 and 85 miles an hour. you can see what is showing up anytime on the abc news weather app free on the apple store and we have more at abc7news.com/apps. police arrested four people suspect testified running a sex trafficking ring. it happened at the accu care

spa that used to be at 39th and adeline street. the suspects brought in women from asia to work as prostitutes. after a two-year investigation police shutdown the spa over the sum are. the property's new owners demolished the business. tonight demonstrators are preparing for two marches in oakland and san francisco to protest police brutality. theyy are calling it the day of anger millions march. it is part of a nationwide action. it is the latest reaction to the grand jury decision in the michael brown and eric garner cases. the marches start at 2:00 in the afternoon at oakland and san francisco city hall. michael brown's father is coming to the bay area on sunday. michael brown senior says he wants his son's memory to be respected in peace and in principalled political action. mr. brown will be speaking at the third baptist church on sunday at 4:00 in the afternoon. felony charges for attacking police officers in berkeley. officers arrested justin mo of

wyoming after they say he aggressively drove his van toward a police officer directing traffic. christopher edwards is also charged. edwards is accused of spiting in an officer's face and trying to steal the officer's bicycle. berkeley's police review commission wants the city's police force to temporarily ban the use of teargas, projectiles and batons against crowds. peaceful protesters have complained about police using excessive force. our media partners say the ban will stand until an investigation into the possible use of teargas is complete. the city council could take up the issue on tuesday. oakland has spent $1.3 million on police over time to deal with the violent protests there. that figure doesn't include property damage. police have made more than 209 arrests during 14 protests over a total of 18 days. ahead, how grinches may have ruined christmas for

♪ east bay. police are looking for four men for shooting three people in richmond. this was about an hour and a half ago on south hampton court. the victims are a woman and two men. they have serious injuries and they are expected to make it, however. police say the shooter was in a white bmw or mercedes suv with three other men. thieves have stolen sms frommarily 50 bay area

families in need. the salvation army is counting on the kindness of others to help replace all of the gifts that were supposed to be given to the families next week. abc7 news reporter alan wang has the story. >> this was filled to the brim with clothes, toys. >> until some time last night when thieves cleaned out almost all of the christmas presents. >> a heavy-duty lock they broke through. prior to that they cut through the fence right behind me. >> the gifts were wrapped for donation to 48 needy families in contra costa county. >> this particular toy was for a boy by the name of efron. >> the salvation army families were in the only ones victimized. the students here feel like they got robbed. members of the jazz band found out tonight. >> it really shocked me they would do that and not think about others before themselves.

circle. they have uncovered a print staring oswald the lucky rabbit. that's the predecessor to mick cay mouse. there are dozens of oswald films. this one, empty socks, from 1927 is rare. only a 27-second copy existed until now. the uncovered film is five and a half minutes long and it was in two unmarked film cases that hadn't been opened for years. this is video from a different oswald cartoon. >> i have trivia. in 2006 abc traded the great sportscaster al michaels for the rights to oswald the rabbit which had been acquired by nbc. they traded al michaels for a cartoon rabbit. if they ever trade me, they will get an egg mcmuffin back. al michaels for oswald. talk about a mismatch. on to the weather. >> and storm clouds have lingered for days. today we did get a little

sunshine and even a rain -- rainbow. if you are looking for the gold at the end of the rainbow check under the campbell water tower. >> what kind of weather can we expect in the days ahead? here is spencer christian. >> we may see a few rays of golden sunshine. don't know about rainbows, but we are looking at live doppler 7hd. there are a few pockets of light and scattered rainfall on the peninsula. a little cell indicating perhaps an isolated downpour beginning to push out over the bay. we also have pockets of fog developing. visibility is down to a quarter of a mile in santa rosa. it is below a quarter of a mile in petaluma and three quarters at fairfield. visibility will be reduced in many locations as fog cold continues to develop. a rush of river is receding where it crested earlier this afternoon. the river is below flood stage

and the cresting continues to move downstream to other locations. around the bay area, the temperatures rate now are generally in the midto upper 40s. we have a mild 52 in san francisco. 52 across the bay at hayward. here is a live view from our exprore for yum camera. our exploratorium camera. we have clear skies around as well. these are our forecast features. showers are diminishing and then tapering off. we will get a little break from the rain tomorrow and for much of the day on sunday. more rain arrives on sunday night and through the middle of next week. here is the satellite-radar and it shows the passage and the cold front that brought us the stormy weather. it has violent and turbulent weather in southern california. the ridge of high pressure gives us a break in the rainfall tomorrow and most of sunday. then our next storl arrives on sunday night and it will produce a lot of rainfall and a soggy day on monday. on sunday afternoon, we will

see increasing clouds it will be later in the evening when the rain will move out. the rain will move farther inland and spread to the bay area. by 5:00 on monday morning, the beginning of the commute, it will be wet just about everywhere with periods of heavy rainfall some heavy rain will occur as well. the early projection by 1:00 on monday afternoon we could see two inches of rainfall and perhaps more in the higher elevations and the lower rainfall totals in the lower elevations. overnight look for partly cloudy skies. it will be chilly in the inland valleys. especially where the low temperatures will drop in the upper 30s in cloverdale and napa. most locations will see lows in the low to mid40s. partly cloudy to mainly sunny skies. we haven't seen that in awhile. temperatures in the upper 50s to perhaps around 60 in the mildest locations. and here is the accu-weather seven-day forecast. we will see the rain moving in sunday night and raining on
