>> it's freezing out there. literally the bay area is kicking off the year with some of the very cold temperatures for us. this is a leif look from our exploratorium camera. >> it's chilly. pile on the blanket tonight because a burn ban is issued. that means no fire in the fireplace. good evening everyone. happy new year. i'm larry. dan has the night off. >> i'm amma. 7 news meteorologist crew is in for sandhya and has details on just how cold it gets. hi drew. >> we talk about temperatures already in some spots. at the freezing mark and still going to drop even further. next couple of hours. look at temperatures out there right now. 32 currently in nap a.33 in fairfield. 35 in concord. chilly 34 in santa rosa. downtown san francisco a bit warmer. checking in at 46 degrees. so temperatures continue to fall we have a freeze warning that goes into effect at midnight tonight. through 9 tomorrow morning. for the early morning low. in the low 30's to potentially mid 20's. frost advisory in effect along the bay water.

subdue a man at oakland bart station. all started at 5:30 tonight when police received a report of man pointing a gun at passing vehicle. when police spotted the man a chase began inside the 12th street bart station. officers corner the suspect on the mat form and when he refused to surrender police fired bean bag round at him. they recovered whether turned out to be a beebee gun. incident affected bart service for more than an hour. >> this is most controversial officer involved shooting. 22-year-old oscar grant was killed on the platform of the fruitvale station on new year's day back in 2009. today hundreds of people gather to remember his life. the peaceful vij comes at the same tame demonstrators police violence against men of color all across the country. oscar grant family hope his death might have been the last of its kind. >> dialogue has to occur where
