the walls that may have lead to the attack at the french paper. those who work in journalism say sadly the attacks don't come as a surprise. >> you always think that something like this might happen or it may be bubbling up now and again. i think the best response is to just keep fighting for free speech. >> free speech supporters are using their words as weapons. there is a hash tag trending on-line with messages of support from around the world. the fbi and homeland security officials are planing to hold a special conference call in the next 24 hours with police from across the nation to discuss this terror attack. this as some departments increased security outside the 10 french consulates around the country including the one in san francisco. u.s. lawmakers are condemning the attack. they call the attack a reminder of the deprevity of

the bay area. there are new records in oakland, 71 richmond 70, gilroy 73 degrees. you look at other parts of the bay area and it was pretty warm. redwood city, livermore san jose, 70 degrees. 75 half moon bay. close to 80 degrees in santa cruz. it is hard to believe. we really have it nice when you compare it to the central and eastern united states where the arctic blast is bringing wind chills. right now it is dangerously low. it is 28 degrees below zero in chicago. windchill advisories and warnings are going for that part of the country. in the bay area the camera shows you clear skies. unfortunately with the warmth comes poor air quality today. we do have a spare the air alert up now. it continues for your thursday. the air quality does improve over the weekend. does that mean rain or stronger winds? i will be back to let you know. dan? >> sandhya, thanks very much. you can track the record-breaking warm weather anytime with the abc7 news

weather app. we also have more information for you on our site abc7news.com/apps. police are still searching for an armed man wanted in a car burglary in san mateo. one man has been taken into custody after police surrounded an apartment building near fourth and fremont street. police believe two suspects ran into the building. they are looking for the second man. witnesses say at least one of the men appeared to have a handgun. people in the area were asked to shelter in place during the manhunt. an evacuation order for those in pittsburgh was lifted. it started as a propane leak scare just after 5:00 on north parkside drive. again it is in pittsburgh. sky 7hd was over the scene as the crews responded. a 30,000 gallon tanker shows signs of a leak but hazmat determined it was lubricating oil and not flammable propane. residents were able to return about 8:00 p.m. tonight. a 25-year-old woman has

been arrested in connection with an arson at the house made famous in the mrs. doubtfire movie. she faces arson and attempted murder charges. the current homeowner is a plastic surgeon who specializes in gender reassignment procedures and said she was a disgruntled former patient. 54-year-old brodes wayne jones is accused of stabbing samantha on saturday as she exited a muni bus. he pled not guilty to attempted murder. they say -- she said she was harassed and called offensive names. when she got off the bus he stabbed her several times. >> imagine all you want to do is go to lunch. yet between you and lunch is someone who wants to kill you because of the way you look. >> when you have a crime like this it is not just assaulting

the other individual. it is assaulting the entire community. >> she -- he is expected back in court on friday. bail is set at $2 million. an animal rights group is offering a reward to investigate a crossbow in a raccoon. it had to be put down. it was found in west oakland on sunday morning. the animal legal defense fund is offering $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. a jess -- gesture of goodwill. it was a day after we reported on a t-shirt logo controversy. they will stop sales of t-shirts with the same "stoaked" t-shirt. he says his shirts promote a positive image of oakland and the team's jersey damaged his brand by using the term

>> covering san rafael, south bay, pleasanton and all of the bay area this is abc7 news. a controversial delicacy is back on the menus of california restaurants tonight. it has been illegal to serve for the past two years but it changed suddenly when a judge overturned the state ban. abc7 news reporter alan wang is live in san francisco where one restaurant is already serving it. alan? >> and dan, most of the restaurants we spoke to say they will have it on their menu by the end of the week. here at the dirty habit restaurant in the palomar hotel they say they gladly served it to about a hundred people tonight. >> we are doing a classic cold preparation. >> to celebrate the overturned ban in california, the chef created a four-course menu at

san francisco's pal -- palomar hotel. each dish made with fattened duck liver. the state imposed ban was effective in 2012 after proponents argued that force feeding geese and ducks is inhumane. >> it involves taking a duck and sticking a tube down her throat and feeding her with so much grain her liver swells to 10 times its regular size. >> a federal district judge ruled california's law cannot trump federal regulations that oversee the inspection and sale of poultry. an l.a. restaurant who is suing the state say the ban cost them millions. >> it was definitely a loss, for sure. we saw a decrease in business. >> now it is up to the loser, the state, to figure out if they want to file an appeal and we encourage them to do that. >> if the state attorney general decides to defend the law she will argue california

has the right to override federal law in order to protect animals. in san francisco alan wang abc7 news. an update now from yosemite's el capitan. kevin jorgenson posted this photo. he wrote that he ripped skin and tape on his fingers on the fourth attempt of the mountain's most difficult part. he and tommy caldwell are attempting to climb the mountain using just their hands and feet with only a rope attached in case they fall. that has happened numerous times. they began the climb 12 days ago. we could know as soon as tomorrow whether the effort to bring the olympics back is still alive. it is meeting in denver and it is expected to decide which city will be at the summer games. the bay area is up against los angeles, boston and washington. >> they will make an

announcement. i will say i am grateful the u.s. olympic committee will make a bid to bring back the united states -- back the olympics to the united states. i want it in the united states. >> mayor leigh and libby shaf made one last plea. it will be held at a new stadium in oakland. a final decision by the olympic committee is expected in 2017 ?ie. bill cosby was applauded by fans in a canadian theater as angry protesters booed the comedian outside and chanted at fans. cosby took the stage tonight for the first time since november. at least 10 perform ns ma -- performances on his north american tour have been canceled in the light of sexual assault allegations from 15 women. hours before the 77-year-old took the stage three more women came forward accusing him of drugging and assaulting

them between 1981 and 1996. >> an alameda county resident is one of nine people who got the measles visiting disneyland. all nine were at the park between december 15th and december 20th just before christmas. the patients are all between eight months and 21 years of age. six were not vaccinated. disney is the parent company of abc7. we are just days away from a historic golden gate bridge closure. this is a live look at the bridge. there is not a lot of traffic. there will be a lot less because the bridge closes for 52 hours this weekend from 12:01 on saturday morning until 4:00 a.m. on monday. the crews will be installing a moveable median barrier on the bridge to prevent head on collisions. now parking lots on both ends of the bridge will be closed beginning at 8:00 p.m. on a friday night. there will also be road closures beginning this weekend. in marin county 101 will be

cover. live doppler 7hd is already tracking some of the high clouds coming from the south. unfortunately there is no rain with those clouds. it will knock the temperatures down as we head toward tomorrow. the temperatures right now are in the 40s and the 50s. it is really comfortable compared to what other parts of the country are dealing with. here is the view from the exploratorium camera and it is a gorgeous view as the moon reflects on the water. the temperatures will remain on the mild side overnight because of this cloud cover. high clouds and hazy sunshine and dry conditions over the next seven days. then changes are expected to arrive. the high pressure is diverting the storm track well to the north. hazy skies for tomorrow means another spare the air alert. a weak disturbance has developed west of baja and that is going to continue to send us high cloudiness. tomorrow morning when you get going you are heading off to work, or you are taking the kids off to school keep in mind it is not going to be
