cornell, hi. more work to do o out there? >> a little bit katie. high to you as well. the heavy lifting is done, other work northeasts to be done but the finish line of tomorrow morning is in saying for the historic safety project installing a moveable barrier on the bridge. it's now in place and directors say it will save lives. >> right will beow zipper trucks are making practice runs on the golden gate bridge. back and forth, across the 1.7-mile span. sky 7hd caught the truck in action from above unzipping each 1500-pound piece of the new safety barrier and moving it to the next lane. bridge directors say the $30 million project is on schedule. >> we're very cognizant of our public to open the bridge as soon as possible and we are on track for a 4:00 a.m. opening. if at all possible we'll open sooner. >> other work is being done too. restriping bridge lanes and

filling more than 15,000 holes where old plastic traffic cones were once fitted. >> all right. >> yay! [applause] >> congresswoman nancy pelosi cut the ribbon for the new zipper truck, a dedication ceremony was held for the new safety barrier. fellow represent at the jackie spear says it's long over due. >> fewer tears heartaches, fewer losses, more security. more safety. i decided to drive in what we all call the suicide lane because traffic was really slow. >> dr. grace was hit head-on while crossing the bridge in 2008 by a driver who was having a medical emergency. >> he passed out at the wheel. he crossed over the median barrier and hit my car. >> she is now confined to a wheelchair, is happy to know collisions like hers will never be repeated. >> i feel happy. my accident might have been prevented by a barrier but who

knows. but somebody's accident will be prevented by the bare -- barrier and that's all that matters. >> a remarkable woman. bicyclists and pedestrians have been allowed on the bridge walkway all weekend ask it's been very crowded up there. a lot of people want to see the bridge without any cars on it and it is quite a sight. luckily no traffic problems to report across the bay area. extra buss and ferries have been running between marin and san francisco. ridership has been relatively lying. lots of room for everybody. we're live on the golden gate bridge tonight cornellber naar, abc7 news. >> thank you. and we can expect some changes starting tomorrow when driving across the golden gate bridge. this is animation from the bridge district showing how the barrier will work. the biggest change, new merge for southbound vehicles where drivers previously merged from left to right the new merge is from right to left. also the speed limit will drop from 55 to 45-miles-an-hour on

the descent down the waldo grade. the two inside lanes will lose six inches of width. back to a live look from sky 7hd for you now of the bridge. the moveable system consists of 13,300 feet of 12-inch wide and 32-inch high concrete blocks. the bridge's deputy engineer explains what would happen when -- if a vehicle hit it. >> if it's a sideswipe there will be very little damage to the barrier itself. recent damage to your vehicle much more than if you hit he cone. if you hit at hey rate of speed and high angle, you could with place the barrier. >> plans for the one-foot wide moveable barrier have been in the works since 1995 after a proposal for a two-foot wide barrier was rejected in 1985. bridge crews have been working around the clock since 2:01 a.m. on saturday and this is time lapse video showing

store or from google play. we'd love to have you join the abc7 news group. >> to developing news out of san jose. police want to find out what led to a shooting during an r&b show and want to capture the people who pulled the trigger. it happened inside the fiesta night club this morning. cell phone video shows gunfire ending a performance by chris brown. a second round of gunshots followed. many concert goers hit the floor take cover. others ran toward the exits. two people a club bartender and a customer, witnessed the chaos unfold. one did not want her face shown. >> something related with the muck then all 0 a sudden -- i think it was like two gunshots or something like that, and then more. >> i don't think it's gang-related. i think it's just a push and shove and then a lot of weed going on and alcohol going on.

>> police found four shooting victims at the nightclub. another one walked into a hospital emergency room. all are expected to survive. a massive show of unity in the aftermath of terror. today france hosted the largest demonstration in the country's history. this as officials learn new information about the suspects in last week's deadly attacks. expecting aside strike by mental health care workers. they will be on the picket line for at least a week, psychologist therapist, and social workers represented by the national union of healthcare workers are leading the strike. they say current staffing levels at kaiser are pursing patients at risk. kaiser says it has improved services and is accusing the union of using the strike for a negotiating strategy for a contract. an indiana couple faces charges tonight after police say video surfaced of them encouraging their child to play with a gun. >> bang. >> shoot that thing. >> both parents can be heard telling the boy to say pow and bang as the one-year-old points the gun and at one points puts it in his mouth. the boy's mother says her child was playing with a pellet gun. investigators say it's a 40 caliber handgun. the magazine was empty but police say there could have been a round left in the chamber.

54 hayward. 60 in san ramon inland more sunshine, not necessarily the fog we had. 53 mountain view. right now, nap park 49. satellite and radar shows you went from clouds this morning, breaks of sunshine by the afternoon, thanks to an area of low pressure just around l.a. that's pushing to the east now, taking the clouds and rain with it. to the north another system entering the west coast but this is going to stay well north of the area. so once again, no moisture over the next 36 hours. so taking into the future tomorrow morning monday, heading back to work and school areas of dense fog will be developing across the region. burns off mid-day and by the afternoon tons of sunshine, mild temperatures and yet another dry day across the region. the reason we have been so dry for the past couple of weeks you can blame the strong area of high pressure over the center of the united states. it's caused a kitchening in our jet stream, and basically the jet stream steers the storms and controls where the temperatures go. so the west coast has been dry

some mild but the east coast, you have heard story about extreme cold, and now stormy conditions. but the week ahead will see this high pressure weaken in size and lose its muscle. so first that means the east coast, they're going ease on the cold and warm up nicely, and for us here in the bay area finally, the storm track will hover over us next week and bring us our chance of rain. so the long-range forecast shows you the cold front moving in saturday and sunday of next week and then the good news compared to 24 hours ago the storm looks more potent in terms of moisture content. so take a look what it looks like in terms of rainfall next weekend, healthy half inch to quarter inch across most areas. the north bay, though has a good shot of seeing more than an inch of rain once this storm moves through. so keep you updated on that. overnight lows, temperatures in the 40s. 38 in napa. 45 richmond. 44, san jose patchy fog. tomorrow, another mild day. mid-and-upper 60s across the

>> last week a controversial call helped dallas beat detroit and advance. today a controversial call helped end the cowboys seen. we go to lambeau field where the weather was actually not so bad. tony romo was solid all day. hits william who is gone, 38 yards for a touchdown dallas led 14-10 at the half. bothered bay calf injury, aaron rodgers struggled the first half but finished strong the pack led 26-21. the game would come down to this, fourth and two under five minutes left, romo to dez bryant, who appears to make an amazing catch, at first ruled down at the one but after the packers challenge the call it was reversed because bryant did not control the ball all the way

to the ground as the remay shows. so it's an incomplete pass. green bay takes over on downs. dallas had a chance to get the ball back but on third and 11 rodgers completes this tipped pass to randle cobb for the first down and they run out the clock. so it's green bay at seattle next sunday for the nfc championship. 26-21 the final. rodgers threw for 316-yards. the cowboys first road loss this season. most of the post game talk had to do with bryant's noncatch. >> just can't believe it. all i can say. i can't believe it. i never seen anything like that. never ever seen nothing like that. in my life. i called-caught it came down and tried to reach for the goal line. >> maintained position throughout but let me make it clear, this game wasn't about officiating, we had an opportunity to come up here and win a ball game. we didn't get the job done. >> after getting embarrassed

over the last super bowl the broncos were hoping for a shot of redemption bus first they had to get by the colts led by andrew luck. luck replaced peyton manning at indianapolis. denver struck first. goes thomas for a quick 7-0 lead. the colts tie it up in the second quarter. the handoff to herron who gets to the outside and in indy's offense gets the headlines, the defense kept manning off balance. newsome strips manning and the colts recover. then i it was 14-10 at halftime. the colts added to the lead in the third quarter. luck with all kinds of time before finding nix in the end zone, point after 21, 10. with three minutes left, denver facing a fourth and eight. c.j. anderson with a great second effort gets near the fir-down marker but comes up just short. the broncos challenge the spot but it was not overturnment that does it.
