man. >> reporter: this video shot by a frustrated driver stuck on the freeway. >> we have reports there are about a dozen vehicles blocking the roadway and we're spinning doughnuts and doing things like that on the freeway. we sent some officers down there. one of them was responding on the southbound side. he was reporting that he was getting struck by rocks. >> there were no arrests. the driver was cited for reckless driving and his car impounded for 30 days. we found it at an oakland tow yard. stickers that claim allegiance to the car club. quote, any time anywhere. a documentary posted on youtube by the club shows various street races and side shows in oakland and elsewhere. according to the chp some of the parts pants claim they were shooting a rap video. >> which is why she stopped the freeway. >> reporter: the chp does have a process for crews to apply for a

permit to shoot film on a video or freeway. that was not done in this case. abc7 news. >> the police officer and four other people went to the hospital after a pittsburgh police officer cra ;hr&e responding to a bank robbery this afternoon. sky 7 flew over the scene. police say the patrol car had its emergency lights and sirens on when it hit another car. that set off a chain reaction collision. another car and a motorcycle were hit. all the injuries appear to be nonlife threatening. the highway patrol is leading the investigation into that crash. a police officer went to the hospital after his car crashed in oakland. witnesses say the officer was chasing a driver. the chp is investigating this crash. that new movable barrier on the golden gate bridge was up and running tonight. a big change for drivers. it is designed to prevent>q head on crashes but it can't stop

fender benders. at least six drivers were caught in the early morning crash. the bridge patrol had to scramble to clean up the mess. and this range rover hit at the toll booth about 6:00 a.m. official say neither the barrier nor the fog is to blame. >> he kind of lost a couple inches off the lane. maybe people were distracted or not paying attention. >> first of all, those trucks will be there a long time. people just need to slow down and pay attention. there are changed conditions here. >> changed conditions. no one was hurt. bridge officials say none of the cars hit the barrier. let's take a live look at the golden gate bridge where we can look at traffic and see how it is moving right along with that median barrier. this is first commute home. one man who was injured in a head-on collision years ago and survived took a ride on the bridge today.

>> reporter: you have to remember that a few things were done before the barrier came along. for example, the speed limit was reduced to 45 miles an hour. then they imposed the double fine zone. but ask the survivor, he will tell you this is the real thing. >> much more confident driving across the bridge. >> reporter: for graham gilligan, the newly install barrier has given him an extra sense of security. >> this really eliminates the severe risk. there is still the potential for accidents on the bridge but i don't think to the extent of what has happened to us and many people since then. >> reporter: every time gilligan crosses the golden gate bridge, he recalls that horrible day in june, 1996, when a driver veered into oncoming traffic. >> we were behind the truck. the truck swerved and we had no time to react. the car is coming at us, 50 60 miles an hour. >> his friend who was driving the honda civic was badly

injured. gilligan had a bruised heart. another driver a 38-year-old woman was killed. it was one of the worst accidents on the bridge with a ten-car pile yum. the driver that caused the accident also survived. >> i poured myself out on to the street. i didn't know if my friend clay was even alive. >> both recovered and several days later gilligan walked across the bridge. that's him 18 years ago. after that accident a double fine zone was implemented. nothing will help eliminate head-on collisions like this new barrier. in san francisco, abc7 news. let's get another upclose look at that new median and how it works. it is a pretty remarkable contraption. >> i love this technology and i get to use it. look at the 360 mobile cameras. we take that drive across the golden gate bridge. we're heading into marin.

we're tloepg median barrier will prevent the horrible crashes like what we saw. it looks like traffic as they ride along the side of the barrier. everything is moving without any problems. i'm going on swing this camera around. it makes it right back into the city. you can see traffic is starting to build up. we don't have fog to worry. about it looks like the afternoon commute is in good shape. >> thanks very much. no arrests yet but san jose police officers search for suspects in a nightclub shooting that killed five people during a chris brown performance. the this shows brown performing and then all of a sudden he was hustled off the stage at the(dñ fiesta nightclub. there was some pushing and shoving near bathroom and that led to gunshots. the five gunshot victims are expected to be okay.

fran police homicide investigators are working side by side with the department's gang task force to find the killers of four men. they wanted to understand what was happening. witnesses say the four victims were sitting in a car when they were shot and killed at page and laguna streets late friday night. >> all the people involved in this. it was pretty exclusive to maybe a ten-block area. and it may even be possible that the suspects were known to the victims. >> that a lot of folks in this city that are angry. a lot of young folks were being, they feel they're being oppressed. they feel they're being overlooked. we just have to reach out to them. ? police have put extra officers on the streets, hoping the prevent more of the gang violence. a vigil will be held for the victims of the mass shooting in

san francisco. it is an area that has changed dramatically over the decades. carolyn tyler joins us from the african-american complex with the story.wd$ >> reporter: the supervisor tells me she personally knew everyone of those young men murdered and their families. she did not want them to be forgotten. she organized a vigil. it will take place in about an hour. and then marchers will walk to the scene of the crime in a rapidly gentlery identifying neighborhood. it wasn't always an upscale dining destination. the freeway used to di i'd them. the 1989 earthquake led to the demolition and the slow lynn moved here in 2001 and says just the other day, she was reminiscing about how things had changed. >> i was commenting on how i

english language students headed back to class today after the break at the campus got a real shock. they were greeted by teach here's said classes were canceled because the school is closing the civic central campus for seismic retrofitting. the teachers only found out about this closure on friday. >> why wasn't this done in a much more professional manner so the students had an opportunity to get ready? >> we're really, really upset. we move already. to be here and to study and right now we have to stop taking classes. >> the students will resume february 2nd at the golf street campus. they are asking why the students were inform in a more timely manner. the san francisco fire department rolled out its hook and leader truck on retrieve a drone from golden gate park this weekend. some say that drone duty is a

poor use of time for firefighters. abc7 news reporter joining us with this. >> reporter: i spoke with a woman who was here at golden gate park this weekend. she said she heard applause as they climbed down the ladder. she thought they had saved an animal. she found out they went to all that trouble for a child's toy. >> kind of funny because it is not a living thing. it is a machine. like a robot. >> reporter: could drones be the next cats stuck ma tree. san francisco firefighters responded to an unusual call for help over the weekend. vehicle tangled in a tree at golden gate park. firefighters climbed up the ladder to retrieve it. this happened saturday afternoon. >> whatever the situation is we try to hem whenever we can, whenever we're call upon to do
