making news in america this morning, breaking overnight isis getting the world's attention once again with a new hostage video. it appears to be the same executioner, this time demanding a huge ransom. also breaking overnight, a highway overpass crashing down a truck, the details just coming in about how it happened. close encounter. a paddle boarder gets close and personal with a pod of killer whales. and helping hand. a rollover crash, the driver in need of help and the football player who came to the rescue not long after winning a big game. and good morning to you all. we have several breaking stories but need to start with the new threat from isis.

>> overnight the militant group releasing a new video with the threat to kill two japanese hostages. the video appears to hoe the same english speaking masked militant as previous videos. in this he demands a 200$200 million ransom in the next 72 hours and speaks directly to the japanese prime minister who's now on a six-day visit to the middle east. >> one is thought to be a freelance journalist the other a japanese citizen who went to the syria to be trained with militants. woo ale stay on top of this story throughout the morning as those developments continue to come in. here at home we're following a breaking story out of cincinnati. a deadly bridge collapse onto a major interstate. >> crews have been combing through the debris of this collapsed bridge over i-75. at least one construction worker killed and the driver of this tractor trailer was injured when the bridge collapsed onto his truck. police say the bridge was undergoing demolition and appeared to be sagging when the tracker trailer apparently clipped it triggering the collapse. yet another breaking story overnight in new york where the fbi is investigating a bomb

threat that forced the evacuation of two plains at jfk. delta air lines says an anonymous caller reported a bomb on flight 468 last fight but that number 468 was connected to two flights, one arriving from san francisco, another departing to tel aviv. passengers on both planes were evacuated. >> someone came out of the cabin, ladies and gentlemen, there's been a bomb threat on the plane. we need to deplane. you can -- you can take nothing with you. which was a very kind of, you know pit in the stomach moment. >> well after nearly three-hour wait passengers were given the all-clear, the fbi says no bombs were found. let us turn to washington where president obama heads to capitol hill this evening to deliver his state of the union address. >> mr. obama is expected to focus on improving the economic outlook for the middle class. abc's susan saulny joins us now with the preview. susan. >> reporter: good morning, reena and t.j. this will be the president's

delegation met with cuban officials but they did not see cuban president raul castro. one of the largest jury pools has been called for in the trial of accused movie theater shooter james holmes which starts in colorado. lawyers will select a jury from the list of 9,000 potential jurors could take until june to find 12 jurors and 12 alternates who are not biased by news coverage of that shooting. >> if you don't believe in the death penalty, you won't end up on this jury. the prosecution is looking for people that frankly, are outraged by this case but nevertheless say they can be fair and impart. >> defense attorneys will argue that holmes was mentally ill when he killed 12 people. now that pope francis has wrapped up his five-day visit to the philippines we're getting new details about his upcoming trip to the united states and know a catholic conference in philadelphia will be the main event in september. but the pope is also coming to

new york confirming plans to visit the united nations and he'll also canonize an american saint at the national shrine in washington, d.c. we turn to weather now. today's weather, quick-moving clipper system will bring snow into pittsburgh but aside from a spot of rain in the midwest conditions most everywhere else will be clear and dry. bad news it's january and it's going to feel like january for pretty much only the northern half of the country. 30s and 40s from the northeast across the upper plains but 50s, 60s and 70s for everyone south of the ohio river. get them while you can. super bowl tickets are a lot less expensive than last year and you can thank the patriots for that. also happening now investigators combing through debris after a fire guts a $9 million mansion. the search under way right now for people thought to be inside. plus highway havoc. hundreds of people on atvs and dirt bikes weaving through traffic. the bizarre stunt caught on camera.

welcome back. in with the old at jcpenney's five years after mixing its catalog it is bringing it back. the retailer found the print catalog actually leads to more online sales with many shoppers flipping through the pages before going to the website to place orders. the new 120-page catalog will be sent out in march filled with items from the store's home department. amazon is getting into the movie business. the company says it's going to begin acquiring films for theatrical release and streaming through its subscription service. amazon's goal to produce a dozen movies a year with production beginning later this year. as part of the new venture

amazon will also seek to get movies to its website four to eight weeks after their theatrical release. many of the major carriers have added more flights to their schedules. why? super bowl, of course, american, delta, united, southwest are among those carriers adding flights to phoenix around the big game which will be played sunday february 1st. most of the flights are on routes connecting phoenix with seattle and boston. well, if you're heading to see that game, you need a ticket and there's some good news. it won't cost you as much as it did last year however, it's still going to cost you. the average seat was selling for just under $2900. that is 20% less than last year. they say it's probably because the seahawks were in the super bowl last year and the patriots have been to the super bowl a lot, 6 times in the past 14 years so people may have been there, done that kind of thing. never gets old, the super bowl. >> it doesn't. when we come back, heroic action off the field. a new england patriot pulls a woman to safety after he

for a heart-stopping accident that played out yesterday on the new jersey turnpike. ooh. >> yeah, that's a heck of a vin vantage point there. can you imagine seeing that coming at you. it was a double tractor trailer getting out of control barely missed one man's car, jumped the median, crashing in the opposite side of that highway. the man who was taking this video, he spoke to abc news. >> realized that everything in front of me was completely blocked off, and there was absolutely no way to go to. >> now, everybody survived this accident. it's a reminder to all drivers that road looks wet, but there is a good chance it's a solid sheet of ice, slow down, be careful, folks. new details in a tragic fire near annapolis, maryland. a couple and their four grandchildren have apparently been killed in the fire which destroyed their waterfront mansion. their bodies not yet recovered. neighbors described the early morning fire. >> suddenly there were two

booms, well, you know, thuds really and flames shot up in the air and quite high. >> agents from the atf have been brought in to help because of the sheer size of the house. they say it's as large as a church or warehouse. neighbors referred to it as the castle. meantime, the hazard on the streets of miami wasn't ice but hundreds of riders on motorbikes and atvs triggering mass mayhem. the mob appeared to be organized and no police appeared to be anywhere as they drove on the wrong sides of the street. they ran red lights and performed stunts and eventually took over i-95 northbound. >> new england patriots defensive lineman vince wilfork is downplaying his role in an accident scene hours after he helped his team earn a role to the super bowl. he was driving home after the game with his wife when he came across an suv that had rolled on to its side. you're seeing it there. he reached into the vehicle helping troopers remove the woman behind the wheel. >> you know, you kind of reflect

matt? >> the king tide was a royal pain for fishermen in the bay. this was the second boat to be stuck in the past 24 hours. two people were out there fishing and they became stuck after the king tide pushed out and called for help at 6:30 and to make it worst cell phone fell in the water and was history. coast guard helicopter found the missing boaters in fremont far away from the place they originally said they were. a boat picked them up at 10:30 last night. one of them spoke to us after being rescued.
