live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. 5:00 a.m. on thursday january 22. thank you pore -- for joining us. meteorologist mike nicco is back but you did not bring the fog. >> no it is in the north bay. where it normally is. some of it is trying to leave the north bay valley but not hitting the reporting stations so santa rosa and possibly even down toward rohnert park half a mile to quarter-mile visibility. to the afternoon, we have a few passing high clouds and otherwise we go fog to sunshine inland and mostly sunny and breezy along the coast and temperatures running in the low-to-mid 60's but for around the bay we could hit 67 in a few areas for the warm spots.

>> trouble on the roads? >> we do. we started off on a quiet note and now we have not only a bart delay but we have cash paying lanes backed up and a new accident. bart delay is on fremont in the richmond direction because of track maintenance for 10- to 15-minute delay. a new accident in san jose headed to milpitas and the new crash in castro valley involving a big rig with lanes blocked and it is getting busy. the news now up to now getting from silicon valley to beijing, china required a road trip to san francisco san francisco for a nonstop flight or taking off from san jose and changing planes once, twice or they times. now, an asian airline is trying to change all of that. our reporter is at san jose international airport. this is the san jose international airport but most flights are domestic. now, silicon valley can have the opportunity for a non-stop

flight to china. they will receive approval for the first ever nonstop service between silicon valley and beijing. the 12 1/2 hour political is offered five days a week starting in june if the department of transportation approves the bid. the mayor sam liccardo said it could create jobs for hundreds after another started five day a week service from san jose to tokyo in 2013 using the dream laner. this is the largest privately owned airline in china and proposing to use the dreamliner in the route to san jose. a blogger praised the decision to go to san jose and wondered why it hasn't happened sooner given the length 20 silicon valley investors and beijing start-ups. one said frequent fly say they made it out in 20 minutes including us through

customs. develop news, the san mateo woman is recovering this morning from being bitten by two pit bulls that went on a rampage that ended only when one of them was killed. this happened yesterday morning near san mateo high school. the dogs attacked garden neither would used the leaf blower to funds him off they bit him and they tried to get the officers biting door. an officer ran the dogs over killing one of them. amy hollyfield will have more at 5:30. >> after years of criticism the overseeing of the oakland police department say the agency is doing a better job of meeting court-ordered reforms. the monitor's report released yesterday shows the department in full compliance with 19 of 22 reform items. it was his best ever report of the department but says oakland

police department was not ready to emerge for more than a decade of federal oversight. >> santa clara county supervisors need a few or a new main jail but not sure how to pay for it. the county need as $70 million 10-story tower to deal with the influx of prisoners. a lot of the prisoners served time in state prison. a law passed in 2011 sent inmates convicted of low-level claim to county jails in order to reduce prison overcrowding. supervisors want to hire 100 correctional officers for $11 million. fremont police are investigating three burglaries where the doors were kicked in. they all happened on tuesday at homes a few miles of each other off interstate 880 suspects got interest each house by kicking in the front door. each burglary the suspects took cash and personal items such as jewelry, tablets and xbox. a vehicle described as a blue bmw was spotted leaning the scene of a burglary.

glass embedded in a sidewalk in palo alto have become a dangerous hazard for pedestrians. the city has told the contractor to repair the new sidewalk on california avenue. residents say parts of the glass have become loose and they are getting stuck if shoes and pet paws. officials found areas of the $7 million project where the glass was installed incorrectly and telling the contractor to replace the glass. >> if you or director kids have fought been vaccinated again the measles, do not go to disney. that is the warning from the california public health department after more cases were linked to the park. so far 70's people have become infected and the majority of the cases are here in california including several reported in the bay area. a spokesman for disney said it is safe to visit if the vaccinations are up to date. disney is our parent company. >> a san francisco group hoping to redues new cases of h.i.v. by 90 percent in the next five years say it needs $2 million of

commute. thank you, leyla gulen we get to the news the fate of one pit bull is still up in the air after it went on an attacking rampage with another pit bull that was killed. a woman was injured. the toll could have been much worse. our reporter is in san mateo with that story. the dogs bit the woman and tried it attack others. police say they had no choice but to run the dogs down with their patrol car. look at this picture given to us by police a leaf blower with bite marks in it bulls roaming a neighbor and they moved toward a woman walking with children in a stroller and chase add san face worker and charged another woman walking with a stroller. police finally decided to hit the dogs with their car killing one dog and injuring the otherring do. it was then that they learned the dogs had hurt someone.

covering daly city, dublin los gatos and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. pa:42. a massive apartment fire complex in new jersey has destroyed primarily the complex. the fire at the luxury apartment village has been burning in edgewater since 2:00 our time yesterday more than 14 hours! firefighters say the growing winds and inability to shut off the gas have fueled the fire. a state of emergency has been declared and more than 400 people have been evacuated. investigators are waiting for the fire to cool down before trying to figure out how it stars. >> there are now four proposals to buy dr.'s medical center in san pablo most serious offer from the city being offered $11 million to the buy the hospital and ament that is near where a smaller facility could be: doctors in contra costa county say the only public hospital and board members say they need to make a decision on which to accept by mid-february or begin
