s tagged. >> reporter: references to the kkk, rap lyrics, a rock band the use of marijuana and other graphic images that police say teenagers would find funny were spray painted all over the campus. the graffiti first noticed by the school's custodian at 6:30 this morning. crews quickly went into action using butcher paper to cover up the graffiti and painting over it throughout the day. district leaders weren't amused. >> vandalism speaks to crime even though it didn't occur while students were there. we want our students to feel safe here at school. >> reporter: just down the road police say one house was tagged and two vehicles were smashed. carrie came out to find her car hit. >> that was really not nice. totally not funny. definitely not cool. it's not appreciated at all. >> reporter: neighbors stunned over everything that happened. >> it makes people peerfearful to take a walk outside or a drive at night. >> reporter: anyone with information is urged to call morgan hill police. chris winn abc 7 news.

oakland police say someone hit and killed an elderly woman this morning then sped off leaving the woman bleeding in the street. take a look at sky 7 hd video. police say they found the woman lying in the street bleeding from the head near 18th avenue and east 15th street around 8:00 this morning. investigators say the woman appeared to be in her 80s. she later died at the hospital. police have not released a description of the driver but say a green honda may been involved. all lanes are open on interstate 580 after a rollover crash that happened at 4:30 in the eastbound direction near the 164th avenue exit. a sedan hit the center median then rolled over. a honda pilot suv then slammed head-on into the car. one woman died, two others were injured. more than $300,000 in wine stolen from a famous napa valley restaurant has been recovered, 2700 miles away in north carolina. abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman is live in yountville with the effort to find the thieves.

>> reporter: behind me, restaurant row in yountville and that office over there, the headquarters of thomas keller's restaurants. we actually spoke with him earlier today but he declined to go on camera, referring us instead to the sheriff's office. they didn't go on camera either. they said this is an active investigation, it is still continuing. they described it as a possible inside job last december because someone broke in when the burglar alarm was off. they knew exactly what they were looking for. as to where they found that wine greensboro, north carolina investigators got it yesterday, 72 of 76 bottles in the cellar of a collector who apparently had no idea that it was stolen. but he did know the quality of what he was buying and now what he has lost. here's what you get for $6500 retail at a fancy restaurant for a bottle of screaming eagle cabernet, a tight-fitting box that would do even nasa proud

and a niftily wrapped bottle in understated brown tissue paper. this is what a bottle of screaming eagle cabernet looks like prior to consumption. garrett murphy acquires such bottles and sells them. >> i think it's just like art. why does picasso fetch millions and millions versus another painter? >> reporter: and why has the small town of yountville become such a destination? >> for the food. >> reporter: and mostly thomas keller's food. he did not want to be interviewed today so here's file of him from an appearance on abc 7 in 2009. of all his restaurants, the french laundry is most famous. reservations here take two months if you can get them. it was here that a thief or thieves broke in last christmas, making off with an estimated $300,000 worth of wine including five bottles of screaming eagle. >> if you buy the wine it would be $750. if you buy it at the retailer it

might cost you double sometimes ten times the price. >> in a restaurant? >> yeah, as much as ten times the price. >> reporter: according to the napa county sheriff's office the wine is back in this county but they provided no pictures, no on camera comment. it's precious stuff, apparently even to look at. is anything worth that much money? >> not to somebody who knows as much about wine as i do. but for some people, you know who wants to let some other expert pick the wine for them and they want to have a wine that no one else has, yeah, probably. >> reporter: probably? >> you know, to each their own. >> reporter: to each their own. one reason the napa county sheriff believes this was an inside job there was another robbery very similar to this at red's restaurant last year. once again the thieves broke in on a night when nobody was there. the burglar alarm was off and they knew what they wanted. the good stuff. in yountville, wayne freedman, abc 7 news.

a redwood city woman is going to incredible lengths to get some valuable items returned to her. erin had her toyota siena mini van stolen. inside were several scrapbook items with mementos of her two children. she says they were irreplaceable items. >> right when she was born they take their feet and stamp it on a piece of paper. that was the very first page in her book. then all over her hospital bracelets and little band-aids. things that as a parent you love to remember but it's easy to forget. >> she turned to social media for help. she posted pictures of her mini van and scrapbook hoping somebody spots them. she has even notified mail carriers, ups drivers and the garbage companies just in case someone stumbles upon the scrapbook albums. well help is coming to the san jose youth football team which had its equipment shed ransacked last weekend. thieves made off with thousands of dollars worth of helmets

shoulder pads, jerseys and other equipment belonging to the san jose hit squad. as we reported to you yesterday the team has set up a go fund me account. so far donors have contributed $3,000 with an ultimate goal of $15,000 to make up for what was lost. go to abc7news.com for a link to help out. the california measles outbreak is creating a lot of concern and we have cases in three bay area counties. many parents are asking their doctors about making sure their child's shots are up to date. abc 7 news reporter lillian kim has been looking into that today. >> reporter: log into any mommy forum or go to any playground, you will find measles is what everybody is talking about. it's especially concerning for mothers of children who are less than 4 years old. new mom ann slater isn't taking any chances. her daughter olivia is only four months old. too young for the measles vaccine. she's following her pediatrician's advice. >> we're trying to be cautious,

not take her out into very crowded areas that are enclosed like the ferry building try to stay kind of local in our neighborhood, do shopping there where it's a little bit less crowded and populated. >> reporter: the outbreak is traced to disneyland. at least 70 people in six states and mexico have gotten sick from the highly contagious disease since mid-december. most are from california. eight are from the bay area. >> if somebody is coming to visit, is that okay. those kind of questions are coming in. >> reporter: this doctor is a pediatrician at the california pacific medical center. she says she has been getting a steady stream of calls from parents worried about the measles which typically starts out as a cold. >> pretty sick after awhile the eyes can get red, funny kind of rash. if there's a possibility that you have been exposed to anybody, i would watch for that. >> reporter: the measles vaccine usually combined with mumps and rubella is usually given twice. the first when the child's a year old. the second when the child reaches 4. the san francisco mom suzie feldstein is taking the advice

breaking news right now. sky 7 hd flying overhead in san francisco. a light rail train has collided with a vehicle. it happened within the last hour or so in the west portal neighborhood. traffic is blocked at 14th street. shuttles have been set up to help commuters affected by this crash. consumers are certainly revved up about buying cars. sales are through the roof and crowds at today's conference of auto dealers in san francisco reflected that. having a possible presidential candidate may have also helped. abc 7 news reporter david louie is live with more. >> reporter: you know, auto sales have been rising for the past five years and 2015 looks very promising. projected sales of 16.9 million vehicles. dealers say they may have to see incentives given out to move the

smaller gas-efficient vehicles because there seems to be a shift in sentiment by consumers towards larger vehicles because of the break at the gas pump. there are lots of shiny new models on display at the national automobile dealers association show. economists put out rosy numbers this morning convinced that more consumers are working again and feeling more confident about spending money. but the choice of a car can be different than what they might have chosen at this time last year with pump prices saving an average consumer about $750 this year, suvs and light trucks are expected to make up 60% of sales this year. a southern california dealer says he's being careful about expanding his stores and employees even though the next three years look promising. >> the growth for '15 makes total sense and probably '16 and '17. then i think there's got to be an adjustment somewhere and we have to be careful we don't build more stores and put in more dealers to handle a three-year run. >> reporter: the auto dealers

invited former florida governor jeb bush to be their keynote speaker. he joked with them that their checkbooks are safe. a reference to his still unannounced intentions about running for president next year. he still thinks the economy needs help. >> we are in the fifth year or almost sixth year of a recovery and 60% of americans believe we are still in a recession. they're not dumb. it's because they are in a recession. >> reporter: many auto dealers indicated they might be adding employees and even more stores this year. they are said to be the largest group within the country's retail industry with more than one million employees. they are feeling remarkably confident here in san francisco. david louie, abc 7 news. say good-bye to piper line. san francisco based gap is closing down that online source for designer shoes and clothing. it has one brick and mortar store in manhattan. gap says annual sales accounted for less than 1% of the company's revenue. it started in 2006 as an online

shoe store before expanding. it will go away for good in april. meantime shares of east bay based leapfrog plummeted 30% today. this is video of executives from the children's educational company at the new york stock exchange last year. the shares fell after the emeryville based company warned investors that sales are down and it will miss earnings projections. the makers of emeryville based [ inaudible ] want to make sure you don't reach for a bag of chips after the workout. they will unveil a line of energy gels with flavors like pizza and french fries. some athletes prefer savory flavors to sweets and the company says it's just listening to them. power bar says the majority of its consumers are fine with those traditional sweet flavors. san mateo's go pro has signed a deal with the national hockey league. it's the company's first such deal with a professional sports league. players and referees will be wearing the go pro cameras letting viewers see games from their perspective.

that all starts tomorrow. california produces more pistachios than any other state in the united states. they are big business in california but one grower in the central valley is facing a major problem these days. thousands of pounds of its product are sitting in the port of oakland and are not being shipped out. >> reporter: processed pistachios have been packed at nichols farms and are ready to be driven off to domestic markets but because of labor troubles in ports the company hasn't been able to move much product overseas. maria esteves says $1.9 million worth of pistachios are stuck at the port of oakland. >> we have nine containers sitting at the port, five ready to go from here and product that isn't even -- hasn't been loaded yet ready to go. >> reporter: 20% of the company's pistachio crop is shipped to japan australia and europe. the nuts are often stored in

these super sacks so quality is a concern. >> pistachios are a very perishable item. we typically export them out there is no process they go through. >> reporter: one 40-foot shipping container full of nuts has been sitting in oakland for two months already. she says moving pistachios by air would be too expensive. >> at the mercy of the ports. it's hard for us because it's out of our control. it's a very perishable item. so we just hope that when it gets to the customer, it gets there in the good quality we sent it in. >> reporter: if not, the company will take a loss. >> those are good. researchers at the university of california santa cruz are getting a rare chance to study a nursing mother sea otter. clara, the sea otter, was impresenting impresentingim impregnated in the wild. the pup will be released into

the wild this summer after it weans off its mother's milk. they want to study how much milk a nursing sea otter actually meedz. the legend of bat kid continues to grow. julia roberts announced a deal to make a movie about the boy behind the mask. in november of 2013 25000 people packed the streets of san francisco to cheer on miles scott, the 5-year-old who was recovering from leukemia. he had been granted his wish of being a super hero for the day. roberts will produce and star in the movie. it will be based on a documentary about miles scott called "bat kid begins." the documentary is actually making its world premiere tomorrow in utah. wayne freedman talked to the director about the making of the documentary. find his story on abc7news.com. >> you cannot help but smile every time you see that kid. >> great kid. weekend is here and it's warming up. >> meteorologist drew tuma is in for sandhya patel and has a look at the weekend forecast. >> it will be a beautiful weekend.

up bringing us mild air. it won't bring us wind to help mix up the atmosphere. record highs likely on sunday and then we are tracking cooler and cloudier conditions into much of next week. it will be great beach weather both saturday and sunday but we are tracking a high surf advisory in effect until sunday. a storm that has developed in the pacific northwest is churning up the ocean. you see wave heights right now anywhere from seven to nine feet. we could see waves as high as 15 feet over the weekend. breakers washing over large rocks and jetties and also unpredictable wave action, and the strong rip currents will be persistent the next 48 hours. pacific satellite will show you another day in january, another storm well up to the north thanks to high pressure still firmly in control, sending any sort of moisture well into canada. for us temperatures on the rise and air quality on the decline with record highs likely on sunday. take a look at our record that we have across the region. a lot of them will be broken from san rafael to oakland, san jose to gilroy. most of these records set back
