an s.u.v. is sitting in the lobby of the wells fargo bank. the gunman get away in a white get away and left the s.u.v. here. we are told this happened at 2:30 this morning. we are on montgomery at wells fargo historical museum. in the lob they had a dislay featuring history from the gold rush period. we are told the criminals got away with gold nuggets. they were wearing ski masks. they were armed. they held up the security guard. they grabbed the geld nuggets and got away. police are still looking for them. there is in sign of them. glass is everywhere. they have the sidewalk proposed off to make sure no one steps in it. there is glass all over the street. it is a huge mess. it left the s.u.v. hype.

i asked if the s.u.v. is reported stolen. the sergeant could not comment. it is in surprise if someone recognizes their suburban in the lobby of the wells fargo in san francisco. the gunman were last seen east headed toward the bay bridge in possibly a white ford taurus. we have break news from the south bay where firefighters have been battles a two-alarm fire that chases several people out of their homes. our reporter is at the scene. matt? >> arson have been called checking out the area. [ inaudible ] the first call came if at 3:30 this morning. >> i heard popping, loud popping and i thought someone hit a garbage can.

i looked out the window and the garage is on fire and films -- flames shooting out ten feet. >> firefighters arrived and evacuated ten from the apartment building and another home on the other side of the carport. firefighters believe a car was up in flames and spread to the other two cars. wind was blocked from reaching the carport by the apartment complex and firefighters say the wind was not a factor. that gave them enough time to get out's it spread. only unapartment is evacuated. there is water damage. the other residents are allowed back in. in the last 15 minutes we saw police cars blocking the road leaving and now all that is left are fire trucks and they have half of the lane blocked off so when you come by you will drive slowly but the road is open. the big snow storm in the

northeast, travel pans have been lifted across new york and new jersey in the past hard hour as they emerge from the worst of the blizzards. with seven states declaring snow emergencies. a city in massachusetts is reporting 22" of new snow. transit systems in the new york city area are working to get trans and buses running. they were halted overnight. one person has dayed. a exploding accident took the life of a teen on long island last night. >> the winter weather mess is leaving a ripple affect across the nation. 99 flight ms. and out of sfo have been canceled today and across the nation that adds up to 4700 flights with no cancellations listed for oakland or san jose so far this morning. you should be able to log on to facebook and instagram this

morning but last night it was different: a passive outage sent people into a panic. here is what we know. >> absolutely we are talking about 1.23 billion active users on facebook and instagram denied access for an hour. facebooken forked quickly saying it was not hacked but a glitch caused by a change that affected the configuration and was recorded for users in the up, asia the united kingdom and australia. "lizard squad," referenced the outage but did not claim responsibility. they are the group that shut down sony play station network on christmas day. instagram relies on facebook for service was affected. frustrated users sounded

a local loser said i put my phone down and talked to someone face-to-face. >> another said i am glad the service was restored so we can keep tab on friends and family in the blizzard zone. >> services are back to 100 percent for everyone curing to facebook. this is the biggest outage since december of 2010. detectives have seized $2.5 million in marijuana plants at a "grow" operation. authorities received a tip about possible narcotics activity at a building on east 2nd street. officers smelled marijuana. they found 825 marijuana plans and another 30 pounds of processed pot ready to sell. pg&e says power was being stolen

at the sight. officers are looking for the person beyond the grow operation. >> san jose city council will consider opening the first ever office aimed at providing aid to immigrants. the proposed office of immigrant affairs would help the population of foreign born residents with resources to stay in the country legally. federal action took affect in the coming months and leaders expect thousands of residents to take advantage. the office would provide city services and help immigrants with health care and provide resources on starting businesses. >> it looks like the government is setting up an infrastructure to keep tabs on you. according to a new report in the "wall street journal" the justice department has been building a database to track the movement of millions of vehicle. the real time tracking uses cameras and license plate scanners to record information open drivers. officials say the goal is to track people connected to crimes but the database raises new questions of privacy and the

scope of government surveillance. meteorologist mike nicco is surveying the weather forecast. looks like a warm one. >> it will be mild. the reason why is the winds coming from the south at 12 miles per hour at half moon bay and continue at sfo so it could be choppy on the ferry. inland we are in the upper 40's to low 50's and 51 at danville and 50 in san ramon and the cool spots and 60 in pleasanton and livermore off the diabolo rain. 62 in the financial district and 64 in redwood city and cupertino which are above the average high. the cool spot is 48 in novato and 47 in fairfield. the bay water is looking calm. next 24 hours are cloudy at noon and chance of a light shower with sprinkles this morning and through noon and then mostly cloudy this afternoon low-to-mid

picket uc berkeley, uc davis and uc santa cruz the first time in decades doctors have struck against an employer. the university is charged with unfair labor practices and uc say they are encouraging the unions to get back to the bargaining table. >> there is condition fusion over the berkeley downtown post office which says the building is off the market according to the postal service. there were two lawsuits filed that the postal service was trying to sell the building without performing environmental assessments. protesters are wanting to presbyterian the building as a landmark. they have not said why the building is off the market. >> a complaint of a shoplifter led to police calling for the bomb squad in lodi. the blast neutralized the pipe bomb that officers found in the suspect's s.u.v. yesterday afternoon.

a local newspaper reports that another dangerous device was rendered harpless with a water cannon. police found loaded handgun magazines, as well. officers are questioning a woman of the explosives. she was initially suspected of shoplifting at a wal-mart. >> the winter storm on the east coast could impact the bottom line of companies. >> good morning, everyone, the northeast blizzard is not enough to stop wall street. stock markets are open but companies will feel the lot of roddive losing up to $500 million. know plow makers and generators were big winners and another business is the business of super bowl tickets. the average price was nearly $6,500. double the price at this point last year. money may not bay love but americans keep trying. this area they will send an average of $142 on valentine's

here are seven things to know before you go. number one breaking news from san francisco. police are searching for three masked men behind a dramatic gold heist. they rammed a suburban through the front of the wells fargo museum and made off with gold nuggets. amy hollyfield will have a report from the scene. >> two, breaking news in the south bay: arson investigators are on the scene of an apartment complex in san jose. self were ever -- several were evacuated. three cars were burned. >> social media is buzzing after facebook and instagram and tinder were off line for an hour with a billion users unable to access accounts. facebook flames an update to the system and said they were not hacked. >> why did a c.h.p. car burst

into flames? video posted on youtube shows the scene on the treasure island off-ramp from the bay bridge, two officers suffered non-life threatening injuries when they rushed to help the driving officer. >> a third location in the south bay is on the measles warning list. a man infected visited dave and buster's and went to costco and wal-mart, as well, in gilroy. there are 73 cases of measles in california. tracking the chance of sprinkles and maybe a light shower for the morning commute. so far that is not reaching the ground. we will talk how long it will last and the big warming trend in the forecast. >> it is not an easy commute. it could look so in san jose along 280 away from highway 17 it is not a problem but it has been in gilroy with a sig-alert there and a new crash in oakland

a statue at candlestick has been blessing sports teams for decades will have to find a new home. st. francis was commissioned in 1973 and be removed from the stadium bus zone. we were over candlestick where demolition begins. it is not clear where st. francis will end up. it could wine up staying in the neighborhood. >> people are going above and beyond to help a police officer save his k-9 partner. this is seven-year-old "frank," a shepherd diagnosed with lymphoma. frank has two months to live if he doesn't receive treatment. we sergeant set up a page to cover the $10,000 cost. since 4:00 p.m. when this was aired $8,000 in donation have poured in bridge the -- bring the deaths to $12,000 so now frank can get his treatment.

>> a tow truck is here. it has the interesting dark of towing a suburban out of the wells fargo lobby. the thieves left it. they used it to program their way inside. it left a huge mess behind. towing it will probably be messy, too, with a lot of glass in the financial district. police say the men got away with gold nuggets and stormed into the history museum at 2:20 and last the s.u.v. here but got away in a white car. people who are starting to arrive for work cannot help but stop and take pictures with the smart finances. >> kind of surprised. but not really. i don't know ... the world seems crazy. it doesn't shock me. >> this happened on montgomery between california and

sacramento with three men wearing ski masks who committed to crime. they were armed and held up a security guard working here. the men were last seep headed easton the bay bridge in a white car possibly a ford taurus. breaking news arson investigators have been called to the scene of a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex at 3:30 this morning. the fire department says the car caught fire and you can see what happened spreading to two other cars. ten people were evacuated. crews kept the fare from spreading to the units but one family home had water investigators will try to determine the cause of the c.h.p. patrol car to burst into flames. it started smoke as the officer crossed the bay bridge into san

see the delays starting to build and this is before you get to highway 13. when you get there traffic is moving along pretty well but you have a bit of a bottleneck. we have the sig-alert in affect involving a flatbed truck that overturned carrying glass. both lanes now are blocked. we had one way traffic control in affect eastbound traffic 152 at love are's lane trying to pull the truck out causing a problem. no word when the sig-alert will lift. >> more legal trouble for the raiders with a new cheerleader lawsuit. the financial impact the california drought is having on the largest water district in california.

will meet with transportation officials days after a report claiming a supplier knew of existing problems of thors that cracked -- of the rods that cracked in 2013. the supplier never told caltrain that the same thing happened with similar rods made for a washington state bridge in 2009. raiders face another lawsuit from a former cheerleader who said they did not live up to promises. sanchez accuses the raiders of promising but not bringing media opportunities. sanchez is frustrated with a different class-action suit finalled against the raiders that includes a prepared $1.25 settlement for back pay claiming they were paid less than minimum wage of $9 an hour. >> officials have video of someone described as a "person of interest" in the deflate-gate scandal that tainted the have been republican this week. f reports the video shows a
