certainly not at the richmond-san rafael toll plaza to the north bay at only five minutes. >> big changes to the morning commute. if you drive on one bay area friend, new metering lights on highway 85 in service in an hour. our reporter is if sunnyvale. how is it going nick? >> right now it is slow. but that is all right. we knew this is what it would look like, this is the last time because they will be on for the morning commute. i am on northbound 85, the new metering lights were necessary because of growing congestion on 85. for the first time ever metering lights are switched on between i-280 and highway 101. last weekend, caltrain turned on the metering for the southbound side from 3:00 to 7:00 people and this morning at 6:00 a.m. the lights will go on and end at

11 o'clock two hours longer than any other metering lights in the bay area. it was determined they were necessary because of growth with a booming economy in the south bay means more are driving and that machine more cars on the road and heavier traffic conditions and congestion on highway 85. there are 474 metering lights cross the bay area. another 170 are slated to be installed this year. a stanford swimmer has voluntarily withdrawn from the university amid sexual assault charges and is banned from campus again. five felony counts were charged against brock turner accused of raping a drunk and unconscious woman on campus a week and a half ago. investigators credit two students on their bicycles for stopping the attack.

turner was a a freshman and a member of the swimming team. if convicted he faces up to 10 years in prison. >> this morning a young woman is recovered after being rescued by san francisco firefighters from the cold waters after she fell into the bay at pier she was holding on to the rope struggling to stay before the water. two firefighters jumped into the water and swam to her. she was walking on a seawall in the dark and slipped and hit her chin and fell into the water. she was taken to the local hospital to be checked. firefighters say she does not appear to have been seriously injured. >> a warning from police in daly city after 93-year-old woman was burglarized by men posing as water department employees. the burglars stole large amounts of jewelry from the elderly victim on tuesday. they went to the home and told the woman her water supply was contaminated. they asked her to turn on the back yesterday hose and police

believe one of the burglaries went and the home and stole the jewelry. police say the suspects were not wearing official water department uniforms. >> burlingame police are looking if a driver who hit an officer with the vehicle. the 22-year-old jessica law her is accused of hitting a police officer with her gray mercedes. the police spotted her near highway 280 andingly course road but she got away. a while later witnesses spotted her gray mercedes getting into a white luxury vehicle. >> a former dublin c.h.p. officer who stole nude photos from two women he arrested will not go to prison. he pleaded no contest to two physical any counts of computer theft. he will have to speak at a violence solutions clasp the judge showed leniency because the client took responsibility for his action. >> san francisco board of supervisors will pay $3 million to the family of lynn spalding

the 57-year-old woman found dead inside a san francisco general hospital stairway 17 daze after disappearing from her hospital troop. she was being treated for a bladder infection and she died from police officer problems related to which willism. >> construction work on the bay bridge may not be done until summer of this year. work crews need to perform repairs to the span's road securing the main tower which may not be finished until about june new. the problem with the rods was discovered by crews last fall, more than 400 of thors had been emerged in rain water and 60 were found sitting in the water two years and could crack when exposed to water. >> oakland public school teachers demand answers from the board of education tonight about big changes proposed for five campuses. teachers unions say they believe the district intends on turning

officers found a woman if her 30's with a gunshot wound. she died at the hospital. a source told abc that the woman was caught to cross fire. 10 minutes later two injured people showed up at the old clam house restaurants on by shore avenue and bullet holes could be seen in the vehicle. a shooting victim died at the hospital. that person was a known gang member and the other person is expected to survive. both claim scenes are two miles apart and police have separate homicide units working them and they have not announced any arrests. >> homicide charges have been drop against a teen boy accused of promising a promising high school student in spot. the public defender argued that the prosecutor identified the wrong suspect in the killing of 14-year-old rashon williams. the public defender released video from the scene of the crime showing another person attacking williams. yesterday, the prosecutor decides to drop charges.
