lights are dark for the last day. starting this morning they will be a regular part of the commute from the south by. the new metering lights are necessary because of pregnant and congestion on highway 85. metering lights are now switched on between i-280 and highway 101. last week caltran turn on the metering lights for the southbound side afternoon commute from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and this morning the light here will go on and end at 11 o'clock a.m. two hours longer than any other lights in the bay area. this is necessary because of a. intoing economy and more people driving and that means more cars on the road and heavier traffic conditions and congestion on highway 85. there are 474 meetering lights across the bay area and additional 170 are slated to go into affect this year. i am watching the traffic 85

turner was a freshman at stanford and a member of the swim team. he now is banned from campus and if convicted faces 10 years in prison. >> a young woman is recovering after being rescued by firefighters in the cold waters at pier 39 after falling into the bay. this is video you will see only on abc7 news a camera was there as crews arrived before 11 o'clock p.m. and the woman was exhausted holding on to a rope and struggling to stay above the water and two firefighters jumped in and swam to her. witnesses say she walked along a seawall in the doctor and slipped and hit her chin and taken to a local hospital to be checked. firefighters say she does not appear to be seriously injured. >> police are asking for help in finding a driver would hit an officer with her vehicle. 22-year-old is accused of hitting a police officer yesterday morning with a gray mercedes she was driving in the

hotel district. the police later spotted lawler at highway 280 but she got away. later, witnesses spotted her getting out of the gray mercedes and into a white luxury vehicle. >> the san francisco board has agreed to pay $3 million to the family of lynne spalding who is the woman found dead inside a san francisco general hospital stairway back in september of 2013. 17 days after disappearing from her room. the hospital was treating spalding for bladder infection and an autopsy fund she died of dehydration and police officer problems relate -- problems related to alcoholism. >> and you can see how much snow fell in massachusetts area. a residents left the camera on for 24 hours and in that time 3' of snow accumulateed. here is the latest. >> millions of people in new england are waking up under a

we were the first news station to bring you the story yesterday. three masked men in a stolen s.u.v. smashed through the front door of the wells fargo museum. a gunman held a guard at gunpoint and the others grabbed several gold nuggets. the gold is estimated to be worth between $5,000 and $13,000. they failed to take more valuable items. they ditched the s.u.v. and escaped in a sedan before the police arrived. >> rescued sea birds covered in mysterious gray goo are set to be released into the mild. international bird recuse will release 30 sea birds this morning and set them tree sausalito. 200 are still recovering. 250 birds died after the goo damned feathers and left them unprotected from the cold waters. >> negotiations are underway over a prisoner swap that could free two hostages held by isis.
