the bay area. >> crime stoppers is offering a $7500 reward for information about a man who sexual assaulted a child in east oakland. police say the man approached a 10-year-old boy near elmhurst park about 3:00 on tuesday. officers say the man lured boit away from the street and then assaulted him. the victim described the attacker as a thin hispanic man in his 40s with salt and pepper hair and a full beard. >> westbound lanes on the bay bridge are back open after a pickup truck caught fire on the upper deck and backed up traffic. take a look at what it looks like from our camera at 5:00. you can see the smoke billowing frup the hood of the truck all the way down the embarcadero. the chp tweeted this picture from the deck of the bay bridge. sky 7 was over the scene just a short time later.

inside of the apartments but heard no alarms. this morning the chief showed the mayor some of the damage the cause of the blaze is being investigated. she's been told there was no audible alarm and that the sprinklers apparently didn't work. >> we heard fire escapes were difficult too access. >> close to 30 businesses were damaged. some allowed to retrieve what they could. >> my family has been there about ten years. now, there is no place to work. >> city officials were there to help them. residents now realize it could have been worse. >> thank god. >> in san francisco, abc7 news. >> you see it all the time.

help from parents can make a difference. can they charge fees if the parents play hooky? chris? >> dan california department of education said parents cannot be forced to volunteer. that is the official word. we're live tonight in front of downtown college prep in san jose. visitors say it's important to be active in your child's education, kids should never be punished for lack of involvement from parents. at downtown college prep, parents are not required to volunteer in the classroom. >> they volunteer because they want to, because they believe in what we're trying to do and we're also fulfilling this together. >> students and parents came by to volunteer during lunch. >> you have to show them. you have to be a leader.

>> in fall an investigation found dozens of schools across california, some in the bay area have ruled to possibly penalize parents who didn't fulfill mandatory service hours. this led to an advisory, reminding officials of assembly bill 1575. nor can they charge fees to families in lieu of a rule. it was welcome news to college prep alum sandra cruz whose parents weren't as able to to be as active as they would have liked. >> they have low income jobs so taking a day off would have been a hardship. >> but this single mom says if interest there is a will, there is a way. >> it's going to take time but

and some fog overnight. highs of 69 that cooled down quickly as some patches of fog developed there. here is a look at a clear blue sky and with a little bit of after glow of sunset looking at western sky from our east bay hills camera. areas of fog overnight that could slow down a morning commute. mild pattern and no rain in site for the next seven days fog pushing over the bay and into parts of the south bay. and into central valley we expect fog to burn away quickly tomorrow we'll see coastal clouds lingering but will be nice and sunny tomorrow. satellite shows why it's going

to be so nice and sunny for days still to come. a huge ridge of high pressure and that mean nose rain coming our way for a while. no rain approaching the bay area until about february 7th so maybe nine days from now is the next chance of rain. and things are dry out there. overnight, low temperatures into low to mid-40s inland and mid-40s around the bay up to about 50 in san francisco. and then, tomorrow, sunny skies with highs into mid to upper 60s low 60s on coast tomorrow. with fog lingering will be cooler there. downtown san francisco, 64 degrees. and upper 60s in other locations 67 in oakland.
