san francisco police arrested a man today in connection with a case in which human body parts were found in a suitcase. hell row, i'm katie marzullo. cornell bernard is live at the jail in san francisco. >> reporter: suspect mark anidrosis being held tonight without bail here at the city jail charged with a gruesome and bizarre crime. dismembering a body and dumping it in a suitcase. >> you're not really thinking about somebody's torso being in a suitcase. >> miles gregory is breathing relief knowing a murder suspect is off his neighborhood streets in soma.

>> kids come through here. we got goodwill and a lot of people around here would don't like to be freaked out. >> police say 59-year-old mark andrus, is suspected of murdering a person whose headless torso was found dumped in a suitcase on 11th street on wednesday. other body parts were found in a trash can nearby. abc7 news obtained this video which shows the suspect wearing the same ball cap and clothing looking lugging a suitcase two blocks from where it was dumped. a motives not known. the victim's identity a mystery. the coroner can only say it was a light-skinned male. >> trying to determine who the person is. if anyone has information give homocide a call. >> i've spoken to the man a couple of times in passing. that's crazy. i mean, it's just really scary.

extended. what investigate ares do know this all started at one large residential building and then quickly spread to three others. this is video of the firefight. you can see the thick black smoke and fire crews mobilizing their attack. there will no fatilities and no injuries, which is good news fire crews say most residents were likely out enjoying the weather so they did not have to evacuate many people from the buildings. the four different damaged buildings had 19 to 25 apartments and a fire chief says resident maize not be able to -- residents may not be able to return home. >> i don't know if my apartment caught on fire. i have not been able to get close enough. but my windows are smashed in presumably so firefighters could get inside. >> one red -- the red cross is on scene to offer assistance to residents. most seem stunned to return home from ear rands or hanging out at nearby alamo square to find this fire at their corner.

one result of the damaged buildings tells us tonight her biggest fear is a fire because there have been fires at this square before, at this particular corner before and unfortunately, he fear came true today. reporting live in san francisco, sergio quinn tan that, abc7 news. >> thank you. the american red cross has opened a multiservice agency at the salvation mayor on valencia street to help victims of wednesday effect's massive fire in the mission district. one person died in the fire. dozens dispoliced. the red cross is providing emergency shelter and resources to help the people get back on their feet. and a bar across the street is collecting donations and giving half of today's bar sales to fire victims. >> certainly feels like summer out there. a record-setting day around the bay area. abc7 news meteorologist drew tuma has more. >> we saw several records bowl. temperatures soaring to nearly

20 degrees noal this afternoon. looking at the record across the region from san jose oakland, san francisco, and downtown to the airport, even in livermore all these records have been broken. most of these numbers have been in the record books since the 70 '70s, so it arrived in a big way here this afternoon. oakland, 18 degrees warmer at 78. also unprecedented territory in terms of rainfall. in san francisco. we have gone the entire month without a drop of rain. we have records that go back 165 years, and that has never happened before. but we are seeing changes to our pattern that does include a chance for rain. we'll talk about that with the forecast in just a few minutes. >> thank you, drew. a new online video reportedly shows the terrorist group isis beheading japanese reporter kenji goto. the national security council i working to confirm the authenticity of the video. the report was captured last

year by militants in syria while trying to win the release of another japanese hostage, also killed by isis. goto had been at the center of negotiations to exchange him and a jordanian air force pilot for a pom imprisoned in jordan. no word on the fate of the pilot. the 21-year-old daughter of the late whitney houston was taken to an atlanta hospital after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub this morning. >> rescue four possible cardiac arrest. female in bathtub. >> bobbi kristina browne is alive and breathing. her husband and friends found her and gave her cpr until rescuers arrived. investigators now trying to figure out what happened. brown has battled drug issues which she has denied. today's incident comes nearly three years after whitney houston was found dead in a hotel bathtub in beverly hills. there are now 84 cases of

measles reported in 14 states, including here in california, since the start of the year. today a new case in new york that may have exposed hundreds of thousands of computers. the threat extends from the big apple to this weekend's super bowl game. >> reporter: from coast to coast, growing danger is spreading, the measles. the latest warning in new york and infected college student bored an amtrak station at penn station, north america's busiest transportation hub. >> if your on the train and were not vaccinated and get a fever check with your doctor. >> the trip went from new york city to albany, possibly exposing hundreds of thousands of commuters. the country has confirmed dozens of cases in 14 states. that includes arizona where super bowl 49 is just a day away. one million people converging in phoenix for the big game, a recipe for disaster if an infect person showed up. >> want to make sure no one goes to that setting who could have

the coast guard released this video of a dramatic rescue at sea 200 mimes off the coast of north carolina. five people were rescued after the mast of a luxury boat broke

in 40-miles-an-hour winds and 13-foot seas. crews hoisted each person into a rescue helicopter. aboard the boat millionaire pinterest investor, brian cohen. more than 2 million vehicles are being re-called for the second time because of faulty airbacks the national highway traffic safety administration says the re-call involves these seven models made between 2007 and 2004. the airbags may inflate while the car is running these vehicles're already under re-call for airbags but the original attempts to fix the defects only worked 85% of the time. the ntsa says half of the new re-called vehicles are part of the defective air bags made by takata which means airbags and decree employ and rupture. friends and family will take part in memorial walk for a

two pilots in a helium filled balloonland safely in the pang ocean off the coast of mexico after a nearly 7,000-mile long trip. troy bradley of albuquerque and leonid of russia landed off baja california 300 miles north of cabo san lucas. they shattered two records by flying more than 137 hours in the air and traveling more than 5200 miles. >> on your marks. get set. >> this is what you call serious commitment. these swimmers weren't going to let three feet of snow get in the way of practice time. so their strokes look somewhat impressive but the snow definitely slowing them down. regardless, their dedication cannot be questioned as they brave freezing temperatures in

still rather mild, even by 11:00 p.m., a light breeze and temperatures in the mid-50s to mid-60s. so just a light jacket all you need later on tonight. satellite and radar shows another system in the pacific but a lot of us well to the north of us once again thanks to high pressure in kole. we'll get a little high cloud cover over the skies tomorrow but winds are going to shift over the next 12 hours or so that's going to mean big changes in terms of temperature. so sunday, winds are coming off the pacific ocean so means a cooler breeze and also going to bring us more cloud cover so not as bright of a day as today but still nonetheless temperatures will still manage to get into the 60s, not the 70s like today. looking to the long-range forecast, we are eyeing a chance of rain on friday, into saturday of next week. as a cold front approaches the region. the question we still have to answer, how far south does this rain get? right now the best chance for soaking showers would be in the north bay, but some of our

guidance is trending this moisture to push into san francisco and even south into san jose. something we'll keep fine-tuning but nonetheless that will be our next chance of rainfall. overnight lows, 49 in richmond. 47, san francisco, dropping to 44 in san jose. falling to 49 in vallejo. highs tomorrow, still above normal but not as warm as we were today. records are safe for sunday. 65, san francisco. 66 oakland. 67, san jose. fairfield, 67. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast cloudier and cooler for sunday. monday some morning fog afternoon sunshine. a slight dip in temperatures on tuesday. wednesday, mild and rather sunny around here. thursday here come the changes first off, increasing clouds and then friday we'll track the moisture into the evening hours and early morning hours on saturday. the question still is, how far south can that rain get? we'll keep updating the forecast and hopefully it can spread across the entire region. >> hard to complain about sunny,
