live from the kgo broadcast center. this is abc7 news. >> unreal! >> oh that face says it all. what some are saying is the worst call ever in a super bowl. it ends the game. the patriots and the bay area native tom brady coming out on top tonight. tonight celebrations are under way in new england for the champions. good evening. we have shu out of the gate with some game highlights. >> i agree on the worst call in the history of the super bowl. football is a game of inches and the seahawks found out the hard way on the final play of super bowl xlvi and it cost them the lombardi trophy. 2 minutes to go and tom brady hit edelman and go ahead score. a minute left in the game and first and goal from seattle and marshawn lynch gets the ball and short of the goal line. give it back to him?

committee handed off souper bowl 50 to the bay -- super bowl 50 to the bay area in a ceremony on saturday. the signs around levi stadium have been altered and ads have been areaing. bay area celeb blah tees -- celebrity lent their voices to a fundraiser going on right now. >> it is going to change the way philanthropy is done. >> for the 50th anniversary we wanted to put a bay area stamp on it and one of the aspects of the stamp is we want the game and all of the activities surrounding the dwaim to benefit the bay area for years to come. >> for every dollar raised for super bowl 50 25 cents will go to bay area charities benefiting children. at last count organizers raised $48 million. but beyond the philanthropy, organizers say super bowl 50 will offer a wide range of activities. the nfl experience will be at the mosconi center and in

other areas leading up to the game. details unveiled in the next two months. lilian kim, abc7 news. new at 11:00, fremont police are calling a young man's death a homicide. neighbors said they heard glass breaking and they called 9-1-1 to report a fight around 3:00 this morning. when officers arrived they found a severely injured man in a home. the 24-year-old victim died at the scene. investigators want to hear from anyone who knows about what happened. three people are dead after a fiery car crash in san jose. it drove off the shoulder around 2:00 this morning. it slammed into two trees before bursting into flames. two men and a woman died. police have not released their name. the former stanford swimmer accused of raping a woman on campus will be in court. he was found on top of the unconscious woman in a field. he told officers he was trying

to hookup. both turner and the woman said they were drinking. arraignment is 9:00 in the morning at santa clear raw county court in palo alto. in less than an hour, oil refinery workers in martinez will walk off the job. contract talks are underway at nine refineries. union workers say they have to work too much over time and staffing levels are unsafe and there are dangerous working conditions. the planned work stoppage begins at midnight. and workers at cleveland elementary school will join a protest over their working conditions. they will take part in work to rule. the teachers will show up to work, but they will not stay after school hours to grade papers or plan lessons. they plan to protest until they get a new contract guaranteeing smaller class sizes and better pay. short-term renters in san francisco that use platforms have to follow new rules thanks to a law that takes effect tomorrow.

abc7 news reporter is live in the newsroom with what owners will have to do to stay in business. sergio this. >> one of the rules is aimed at people who lease their home from a landlord and then list it for the occasional guest rental. the landlords have to be notified and they have to be okay with the short-term rental. the property owners who use air b and b. she has been interviewed as the unlikely poster woman of the air b and b super host and was featured in "the guardian" a uk paper about her experience representing out rooms in her potrero hill home. now she will be like the rest who will go down to the city permit officer and continue being host. that's must different than the way the business is usually run and the sharing economy. >> it is all an app. you can flip through and click accepting someone.

there has been no paperwork up-to-date really. it is just another process the host will have to go through. >> the new so-called air b and b law sets rules for a rental host. only primary residence can be rented. the owner must live in the home at least 275 days of the year and the rentals must meet city code requirements. the success has spawned related companies like pillow. they help property owners who may not want or can't host but want to rent out their place. >> they are regular homeowners who want to help pay their mortgage or are traveling for work. it is for a weekend or a week at a time. >> they will arrange key exchanges and clean up and manage emergencies a guest may have at the property. for those owners who may use services like pillow, the new law limits absent host rentals to only 90 days of the year.

of ice. as the system moves through the midwest a couple of viewers were buried in the snow. this is her 1-year-old who got through his first snowstorm just outside of chicago where the suburbs picked up more than a foot of snow when that storm moved through. back here at home it is quite mild overnight. 57 currently in san francisco and 54 in san carlos. it is 53 in oakland and 45 in novato. danville is checking in at 46 degrees. satellite and radar, a cold front is just off to our west. it is responsible for all of the high clouds. there is an on shore flow that kept temperatures cooler than we had yesterday. as you go through the forecast , fog is not going to be an issue. the partly cloudy skies will keep the fog limited and mainly out of the bay. by monday afternoon there is a mixture of sunshine and clouds out there and another mild

february day to the upper 60s and the lower 70s. then our sights are set on the second half of the week. looking at the long range forecast we are getting confident in our agreement that a cold front will move through friday afternoon to friday evening and bring some showers with it as well. on the heels of the first storm here comes a second storm. the second storm moves in on saturday afternoon and lasts into saturday evening. the storms are still five to six days out. it is too early to talk about rainfall amounts but it is encouraging to see the pattern develop and we will break the dry spell since the midding of december. 48 in san rave -- in san rafael. 43 the overnight low in san jose and 45 in concord under a mixture of stars and clouds. we talked about the upper 60s to the lower 70s 10 degrees above normal. 68 in oakland and 67 the high in san francisco and up to 71 in san jose and a high of 70 in napa. the accu-weather seven-day forecast mostly sunny

the patriots rallied from a deficit to win super bowl xlvi over the seahawks. tom brady joins joe montana to win three mvp's. brady went 10 years between super bowl wins. marshawn lynch getting a boost from his pre game skittles. game on. the first patriot drive. the first to score usually wins, but brady is intercepted. the legion of boom is flexing its muscle. lane was hurt on the lay and would not return. the second quarter and no score. brady finds lafelle. slant route puts it up 7-0. russell wilson did complete a pass. it was a first down to jermaine jermainekearse. 44-yard completion. matthews' first catch of the season. sets up beast pod marshawn

live from the kgo broadcast center, this is abc7 news. >> good evening. in tonight's headlines, levi stadium in santa clara was all lit up to remind fans that super bowl 50 will be here next year. lots of activities are planned including the nfl experience. 25 cents of every dollar raised for super bowl 50-relatedy vents will go to help bay area children groups. there is a new law for people in san francisco who rent out their homes on a short-term basis. starting tomorrow people who use san francisco-based air b and b and other home sharing services will have to apply with the city. some of the rules include a maximum of 90 rental days a

abc news, chicago. >> locally san francisco international had a total of 25 flights canceled due to weather in the northeast and the midwest. ma net saw san jose reports two cancellations and oakland had none. >> a dramatic rescue after three hikers fall hundreds of feet down mount hood this oregon. what makes this story extraordinary is rescue crews happen to be in the right place at the right time. the hikers fell about 500 feet and landed at the bottom of mount hood's crater past the rescue crews training on the mountain. the fall was not the only threat to protect them they formed a human shield for six straight hours. >> should are to shoulder and stopped the ice coming down the mountain. >> two of the climbers are in the hospital in serious

>> the voice said she should call a certain number at the irs. >> please call immediately on 206-985-980. >> and she said it sounded computer generated. >> when i calmed down after hearing irs i thought maybe i will check this out. so i contacted my accountant. >> it was indeed a scam. >> predators are using row -- robocalls to reach a lot of victims at once of. . >> i called seven on your side so people would though about it. >> reports came to me from all over the bay area. >> there is an arrest warrant out for me. claire in oakland said she got three messages and all saying something terrible is going to happen to me. ron in san francisco said the

caller threatened that an agent will put a lean on your house and take your wages. many wanted to know if we can catch the con artist. >> we dialed the seattle phone number. >> the person you are trying to reach is not available. >> scammers used temporary internet phone numbers and disconnect them after a few days before anyone can track them down. >> it would be good to be able to trace them and bust them. >> the irs has nearly 3,000 taxpayers. they said they felt victim to the scam. they paid $tour teen million for the -- $14 million for the con artists of -- con artists. they want to hear from anyone who got a tony call. i posted the link at abc7news.com. i'm michael finney, seven on your side. >> hope you enjoyed the warm weekend. next week is gone that you change a bit.
