this is abc7 news. good morning thank for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. it was a wet and windy throughout parts of our area. let's check in with meteorologist lisa argen to see how our weekend weather is shaping up good morning. >> good morning. things have calmed town considerably, although it is still quite breezy out there and we have pockets of hours. as you do, you will notice the east of union city we are looking at showers around 680 and showers around the hills also. and gilroy looking at wet weather. we are still seeing the numbers on the mild side. low 60s and southerly winds.

the winds will slowly dial back and that will take throughout the morning hours as we have a low between this one system exiting the bay and the next system that's on the way for overnight tonight into tomorrow. notice scattered showers we will keep the theme going through about 11:00. we will timeout of out the next one and stop them out when we see you again. >> thank you. the rain causing problems in mendocino county. you are looking at a highway shut down overnight because of flooding. officials with the in the whether system caused the river to rise, leading to flooding in the area. there is also flooding on the navaro river. the storm is bringing power outages to the region. here's the latest numbers

according to pg&e's outage map. about 2,000 people are without power in the north bay and 500 customers in san francisco are without power this morning. this is after 78,000 customers were without power region why. we have more on the storm damage that no novato. >> wedged gusts knocked out power to 1500 customers. and bodega high winds ripped a power line down, trapping two women and her kids in their car. >> i remember spun said not to get out of the car and there was there was fire in front of us. >> trees were all over the area. >> the wind had to be incredibly high for the tree to fall over. >> the tree fell across three properties and damaged a

neighbor's room but there were no injuries. in pinole a tree was pulled out of ground and on top of two cars. >> at least nothing happened to my family. that was the first thing i was thinking of. >> they clean up and brails for the second wave on sunday. alan wang. obc7 news. >> let's go to the east bay where a large tree fell on a home in alamo yesterday. this is luckily in a drive where san ramon firefighters worked through wind and rain to remove it. no one was hurt bull there is some roof damage. >> hear winds uproot add eucalyptus tree and it toppled across the southbound wail 69 express way in palo alto so. crews were able to quickly remove the tree. the winds brought down trees in san francisco as well and sent waves crash along the bay katie marzullo has the details

what's the matter? he said we are taking over. >> now joyce said her current alarm company was taken over by this new one the alarm guys in brentwood. >> he showed his badge, and i thought he must be all right. she let the technician install a new alarm panel here in the kitchen and she signed the five year long contract. >> he changed everything in the bedrooms all my things. put out new signs. >> joyce said the salesman wrote this note from joyce to her current provider sag she was cancelling the service. joyce signed the note. it wasn't until later when her daughter realized what happened. >> my daughter is on the phone with my original alarm people and they said there's something wrong here. >> turns out there was no tailover of her old alarm company. she called and tried to cancel the contract. i said i want my original alarm

in here and they said no, it will cost you $2,200. >> she contacted "7 on your side." we contacted the alarm guys. the spokesperson said joyce was fully aware that the two alarm companies were unrelated before the switch was made. it's attorney tells us the alarm guys performed as they do with every customer. two recorded telephone calls to ensure ms. montez was aware of the products and services she was purchasing. and the identity of the alarm guys is independent of ms. mon taz's prior home security gup first the company said we could hear the consent but did not respond with our request to follow-through. however the company did agree to cancel the contract after all telling me although ms. montez cleared both calls, she later contacted the alarm guys because she was not completely satisfied with her new securityselves.

investigation and beliefs the stolen stem was stolen elsewhere. those who tried to file their returns and were suspend already now have their returns processed. a heads-up for teachers. there will be a job fair and hundreds of teaching vacancies across the bay area. over 600 positions available, including oakland and san francisco unified school district. districts are hiring for substitute teacher positions as they deal with a teacher shortage. today's job fair runs from 9 to 11 at drawn done university in walnut creek. california's great america will hold the second kay of their job fair today for their upcoming season. santa clara amusement park is looking for up to 2500 employees for positions including marketing, rileds and operations and food and beverage fair. it opens on march 289th.

that's work out well. most. rainfall happened while you were sleeping and late yesterday afternoon. and once gone we are looking for another round. rain, but this one, the timing quite different. here's live doppler 7hd. a bit of a low before the next system brings more wind and rain. the rainfall has been over into the east bay around 680 and livermore this morning just outside of union city. and looking at a few cells in the hills, as well. some scattered light showers down around san martin and gilroy and highway 101 and west back through the santa cruz mountains. look at wet weather here and looks like it will continue throughout the morning hours. 39 in truckee. mid-40s at the tahoe valley airport. that is rain but there is upper elevation snow. we don't have a winter storm warning here but we do around yosemite.

4 to 8 inches additional snow is expected there. here's a look at lake tahoe now. kind of a cool shot. temperatures are you know what? they aren't at freezing so they picked up a little bit of high elevation snow. around the bay area 59 degrees half moon bay with about 2-mile visibility. 63 san jose. 59 in oakland. here's emeryville where we have cloudy skies. 60 up in santa rosa. petaluma 67. you notice how mild it is due to the strong, southerly wind that's dialed back somewhat but you are looking at 10 mile-an-hour winds around half moon bay and the airport. we will look for things to calm down and ahead of the next system gusty winds had return. so scattered showers throughout the day today. we will see breaks around. wet and windy tomorrow but more gusty winds arriving through the overnight hours. the chance of a thunderstorm. we are look at rainfall anywhere from high inches up in mount st.

helena. up to three inches near ben lomen. and look at concord, over an inch and a third. livermore over an inch. not too bad. not what was expect the. we are look at another three quarter of an inch to an inch and a half with the next system. scattered showers today. offshore we are looking for the folks slug. moisture to mule on in here. and here's the timing of that. wake up tomorrow. 5:00 just some scattered light showers. that's this morning. and you will notice by tomorrow, 7:00. take a look. widespread rain off the coast. and then by 11:00, more moderate rain pushing through. this could bring us the additional inch or so across the bay. then things calm down. but even by monday morning we are still looking at a few lingering showers and by monday afternoon we dry out

but the bulk of the day will be dry. a few peaks of some sunshine and temperatures on the mild side. so there is a lull before the next system heads our way and the winds are going to crank up again. and traps another additional inch or inch and a half around the bay. we that you can about it in detail coming up. chris. >> lisa, thank you. up in the sierra we go. strong winds snapped trees. the winds also whipped up a fire that's grown to more than 500 acres suggests. yosemite. the towns of paradise and small meadows are under mandatory evacuation orders. the ground fire started yesterday afternoon. one home and one outbuilding are destroyed. a mom and her kids had a scare after being trapped in their car by live powerlines. they were heading out to bowl because the power was knocked out at home.

san francisco schools are updating policies about unvaccinated kids. >> there's no question. >> almost feels like criminal negligence when parents don't vaccinate their kids. >> but one feels just as strongly about a parent's right to choose. >> i don't think that we should man date vaccinations ever. >> often family filed personal belief exemption toss avoid vaccinating their children now. the school district wants those parents to know there could be major consequence. they sent out this robocall. >> if you do not have proof of immunization on file and there is a case of measles at your school, your child will have to stay home from school for up to 3 weeks. >> that's 11 days of finding a babysitter, 21 days of missed class work. >> that would be extremely hard to deal with, 21 days staying home. >> we are trying to make sure that parents really understand what the repercussions would be if there were a case of measles
