>> good morning and thanks form joining us. i'm chris nguyen. a wet and windy night throughout the bay area. let's check with lisa argen to see how the weather is hang up. hi lisa. >> hi, chris. you see most of the shower activity from the south bay and central coast and elsewhere maybe a little bit of mist and drizzle. we were zooming in on the east bay where things were active in

heighter elevations. right now the santa cruz mountain watsonville, morgan hill a few light showers. we will keep the showers in the forecast throughout the day today. and with the south winds continuing, it will be breezy from time to time along the coast. but notice the temperatures are quite mild. upper 50s to legal 60s. so we will still be in this mild sector of air in between systems. the next system will bring in the heavier rain overnight tonight and into tomorrow. here are the winds. you see not bad from calm to about 10 miles an hour. the scattered showers in the forecast for your saturday morning will be around. really i wouldn't cancel any plans. we will still be in the 60s. we will time-out morning rain tomorrow and perhaps another wind advisory to pass along coming up. chris. >> thank you. 6:01 is our time. the rain caused major problems up in mendocino county. here's a look at video from

highway 175. officials with the national weather service said all the rain caused the russian river to rise, lied to go flooding in the area. there is also flooding on the navaro river. the storm is bringing power outages to the region. there are about 600 customers in san francisco, 440 on the peninsula and 6,000 in the east bay. signature bay 350 customers are in the dark, as well as 1750 in the east bay. abc7 news reporter alan wang has more on the storm damage from novato. >> reporter: wind gusts knocked out power to 1500 customers. and bodega, high winds ripped a power line down, trapping two women and her kids in their car.

they were rescued an hour later. >> i will remember in a safety course put on by the fire department not to get out of the car. then the wires started arcing and causing a fire in front of us. >> trees were all over the area. >> the wind had to be incredibly high for the tree to fall over. >> the tree fell across three properties and damaged a neighbor's roof but there were no injuries. in pinole a tree was pulled out of the ground and on top of two cars. >> at least nothing happened to my family. that was the first thing i was thinking of. >> they clean up and brace for another wave on sunday. alan wang, abc7 news. >> let's go to the east bay where a large tree fell on a home in alamo yesterday. this is luckily in a drive where san ramon firefighters worked through wind and rain to remove it.

no one was hurt, but there is some roof damage. and winds uprooted a eucalyptus tree and it toppled across the southbound wail 69 express way in palo alto so. crews were able to quickly remove the tree. the winds brought down trees in san francisco as well and sent waves crashing along the bay, katie marzullo has the details from the city. >> trees and limbs came crashing down all over san francisco. >> i just heard a big giant whoosh. >> i'm glad it's there and not here. >> it would have been a direct hit into his backyard. at 15th valencia, this took a rear-view mirror off a parked car. nearby a woman decide to put the damage to good use. >> i'm salvaging the fallen feels. and it's for a project in my garden. >> spokeswoman for the department of public works

said crews have recovered two dozen downed trees and limbs but no reports of major property damage. along the embarcadero, the waves put on quite a show, smashing on to the sidewalk. saw the big wave coming and i would to hold my umbrella so it got broken. >> and at the height of the wind the sturdy flagpole only the -- there was struggling. in san francisco, katie marzullo, abc7 news. >> you can see what is showing up on live doppler 7hd with the abc7 weather app. it's free on apple's app store or google play. we have breaking news out of san jose. one person has died in a mobile home fire. this video just into our newsroom. the fire broke out just before 2:00 this morning at a mobile home. firefighters arrived to find the home engulfed in flames t took crews to knock down the fire. firefighters found a woman dead

inside the mobile home. she has not been identified and the fire remains under investigation. developing news, a man is in custody in oakland this morning involving an officer-involved shooting. happened just after midnight on 7th street. officers phased and fired shots after a man who was armed with several golf clubs came at them. the man was not shot and was not injured during the altercation. he was taken into custody. no word on what led up to the altercation. the santa clara county coroner said the driver who died in a hit-and-run crash was a 14-year-old girl. a car and garbage truck crashed early wednesday morning. the car drove off and they found the teen's body next to it about a half-mile away. they identified her as a girl from san jose.

no containers are load or unthroat port this weekend. pacific maritime association ail announced a temporary work suspension for 29 ports, including oakland's. the workers have been without a contract for nine months. the association said there's been a work slow down the last three months, but the long shore workers union deal nice it. local fruit importers are worried. >> we do not want this to happen, especially with the perishable. they come in from ecuador. we do that, have them in containers so they are to control that. we are going to unload as many as we can. >> is that importer says he doesn't think there will be a complete shut down like the one that occurred back in 2002. 6:07 is our time. happening today activists will gather in oakland to address the issue of climate change. demonstrators will call on the governor to put a stop to fracking. they want him to stand up to the oil industry. they also want him to move the state toward 100% renewable energy. it gets underway this afternoon.

was from her alarm company. he said where's the alarm had? and i said right in the kitchen. he goes in and said we have to change it. i said change? what's the matter? he said we are taking over. >> now joyce said her current alarm company was taken over by this new one, the alarm guys in brentwood. >> he showed his badge, and i thought he must be all right. she let the technician install a new alarm panel here in the kitchen and she signed the five year long contract. >> he changed everything in the bedrooms, all my things. put out new signs. >> joyce said the salesman wrote this note addressed from joyce to her current provider saying she was cancelling the service. joyce signed the note. it wasn't until later when her daughter realized what happened. >> my daughter is on the phone with my original alarm people and they said there's something wrong here. >> turns out there was no

takeover of her old alarm company. she called and tried to cancel the contract. i said i want my original alarm in here and they said no, it will cost you $2,200. >> she contacted "7 on your side." we contacted the alarm guys. the spokesperson said joyce was fully aware that the two alarm companies were unrelated before the switch was made. it's attorney tells us the alarm guys performed as they do with every customer. two recorded telephone calls to ensure ms. montez was aware of the products and services she was purchasing. and the identity of the alarm he guys is independent of her prior home security company. first the company said we could hear the recording with joyce's consent but didn't follow-through with our request. however the company did agree to cancel the contract after all, telling me although ms. montez cleared both calls, she later contacted the alarm guys because

in tax filings use stolen information. taxpayers often discover their identities were stole when they file a return and the return is rejected. turbo tax launched an investigation and they believe the stolen information was stolen elsewhere. those who tried to file their returns and were suspend already now have their returns processed. a heads-up for teachers. there will be a job fair and hundreds of teaching vacancies across the bay area. over 600 positions available including oakland and san francisco unified school district. districts are hiring for substitute teacher positions as they deal with a teacher shortage. today's job fair runs from 9 to 11 at brandon university in walnut creek. california's great america park will hold the second day of their job fair today for their

19. seemed like just yesterday we were celebrating the big win. >> exactly. and we have broken our streak of 43 days ever no rain so we can celebrate that. however, it's mainly a wind event. the highest total was in santa cruz mountains and the far north bay where they picked up more than half an inch. but we have more on the way. a break today and the wind and rain right now have slipped into the sierra nevada, the southern sierra. a few scattered showers around the south bay and the central coast. we will take you into a little close entire the east bay. this the higher elevations south of livermore and east of milpitas. i am see showers and 101 through gilroy, some shower activity. and along the coast from watsonville, castroville and monterey, showers here. hollister, as well. and the winds are going to pick up and the you are surf will be a problem along the central coast.

health officials announced four additional cases, bringing the total to 103. as the outbreak continues to fuel the debate about vaccines san francisco schools are updating policies about unvaccinated kids. >> there's no question. >> almost feels like criminal negligence when parents don't vaccinate their kids. >> but one feels just as strongly about a parent's right to choose. >> i don't think that we should mandate vaccinations ever. >> one family filed personal belief exemptions to avoid vaccinating their children now. the school district wants those parents to know there could be major consequence. they sent out this robocall. >> if you do not have proof of immunization on file and there is a case of measles at your school, your child will have to stay home from school for up to 3 weeks. >> that's 21 days of finding a babysitter, 21 days of missed class work. >> that would be extremely hard to deal with, 21 days staying home. >> we are trying to make sure that parents really understand what the repercussions would be if there were a case of measles
