a dark, damp day at the beach. rain soaks our camera at santa cruz beach. just a0(yz preview of what weo )r' expect when a second storm blows our way. we do begin tonight on storm watch. our cam shows some dark clouds forming over the east bay. we're getting a break right now but the storm's not over. let's check in with live doppler 7 hd. >> we're getting a temporary lull in the tiflactivity right now.

the bay area is generally dry. you do see a few showers just to the east of sacramento. you do notice along the peninsula and even in the south bay, a few showers were experienced earlier this morning. take a look at rain totals. over an inch in oakland. san jose other an inch. and after moon bay at over just an inch of rain. if you're headed out on the town this evening, we'll have a lot of clouds out there. temperatures rather mild in the upper 50s to mid-60s. then by 11:00, the threat of wet weather moves back into the picture. the details and the timingi the full forecast in just a few minutes. round one has left its mark on much of the bay area. tonight, people are cleaning up after rain and powerful winds blew through made a mess and turned out the lights.

we're live where hundreds of people have been without power all day. >> reporter: just in the last couple minutes we are seeing some rain here. pg&e is making progress. power is slowly4oy back onto more than a thousand residents here who have been left in the dark since last night. take a look at what they're going. the storm knocked down this power pole last night. a new one has just arrived. it was raining today. but it's dark inside sailor's restaurant on bridgeway avenue. no customers, no lights. >> wemkaph(p''t cook anything. >> reporter: he says he lost power about 10:30 friday night. those with reservations tonight have been told to come back another time time. >>. >> i got to keep the[8'd refrigeration closed up. went and bought dry ice. try to keep all the food cold and not lose anything. >> reporter: this was the

culprit. strong winds blew down this power pole leaving 1,100 customers in the dark. in mill valley, this tree trimming busy is very busy. they're clearing toppled tree limbs trying to prevent more damage before the next storm. >> cut the trees a little bit to avoid having the trees fall on top of the buildings. >> reporter: this brewery tweeted this picture after heavy wind gusts blew out a second floor window. no one hurt. and the berkeley hills, this 80-foot pine is being removed after falling on sandy thompson's property. the tree fell away from the house but toppled into the backyards of two neighbors. many of these pine trees were planted in the early 1960s. >> apparently their life span i'm finding out now is 50 years. they were planted about 50 years ago.

makes me really nervous because we have another storm coming. >> reporter: removing this giant tree could take several days. abc 7 news. thousands of customers remain without power tonight due to the storm. most of them in the north bay where they're working to restore service to more than 2300 people. 590 customers on the peninsula are affected. and 290 customers in san francisco. another 40 in the east bay. pg&e says it's bringing in crews from oregon and washington to deal with the power outages. our storms are bringing snow to the sierra after a long, dry stretch. you could see flurries there earlier today. the snow level dropped lower than expected but chain restrictions on interstate 80 and highway 50 have been lifted. we'll have more on the latest ski conditions coming up at

companies to break apart underground rock so oil and gas can escape. they're also asking for 100% renewable energy. brown has said he wants california to lead the world in climate change. >> fracking affects the environment, the water we drink. it affects our health. it affects the animals, everything in the environment and our climate. so much the biggest issues out there. >> brown's administration says so far there is no evidence of harm from fracking. new details tonight on a deadly fire in san jose. fire crews found a woman dead inside a mobile home. a neighbor reported the fire just before 2:00 a.m. firefighters say they arrived four minutes later. >> our crew noticed an extremely fully involved single wide mobile home with fire basically across the whole building. >> because the fire was so

intense, fire crews say it will take some time to determine the cause. but they do say initially it does not appear suspicious. flames threatened two nearby mobile homes. new details tonight in a case where oakland police shot at a suspect. it happened just after midnight on east 17th street after someone called police reporting a mentally disturbed man armed with a weapon threatening to hit their family members. police say officers initially tased the man. when he continued to swing at officers, police say one officer fired his weapon. the man was not injured and is now in custody. all 71 pilots who operate transasia airways propel lor jets began proficiency tests today. the airline has canceled 90 flights over the next three days to accommodate the testing.

there are 40 confirmed deaths in the crash. three people are still missing. preliminary investigations indicate the pilot shut off a running engine after the other engine went idle. aviation experts say that could have been a mistake. new compelling video released today of that plane crash. it shows a surviving passenger inside the cabin vigorously knocking on the window pleading for help the day of the crash. a total of 15 surveyivors were rescued. six people in the u.s. have been arrested and charged with conspiracy and providing support to radicals in syria suspected of having ties to isis. they're accused of sending cash, firearms and military gear. those items were smuggled into syria. meantime, u.s. u.s. officials say there's still no evidence regarding isis's claim there was

developing news, olympic gold medalist bruce jenner was vvld in a four-car crash that left one driver dead in malibu today. jenner was a passenger in one of the cars. the former olympian has remained in the spotlight which for the past eight years has documented jenner raising his daughters with now ex-wife kris jenner. 29 west coast ports have stopped loading and unloading ships this weekend. the group representing the ports announced a temporary work suspension. the port association says there's been a work slowdown for the last three months. ports are scheduled to resume operations monday. a big day for giants fans. thousands of people came out today to meet their favorite players during fan fest at at&t

officers as people that they go to, that we're here to help. it's just great. it's a perfect saturday morning. >> abc 7 news anchor and reporter chris win mc 'ed the event. might be some good movie weather coming up. that second storm on its way. let's check in with abc 7 news meteorologist for the timing. >> this storm is going to be a quick mover. the first half of your sunday will be wet and then the second half is going to be windy. we'll show you the immediate bay area is rather quiet. snow falling in the sierra. you do notice we managed to squeak out a few peeks of sunshine here and there. but the clouds, they were streaking across the sky. a live look right now will show you a little bit of blew out

there. it is quiet, but another storm is lingering in the distance. right now, it is rather mild with a south wind. 62 currently in san francisco. napa currently sitting at 60 degrees. here's storm number one. the rain now pushing out of the region. and then this clump of clouds right off the coast, this is storm number two. this will not be a long duration event. it's really just going to be a couple hours of rain. sunday early morning spotty drizzle in the north bay. by 7:00 a.m., this is when we see the leading edge of rain moving in. by 9:00 a.m., it quickly entensefies. there is the possibility we could hear a few claps of thunder. the bulk of the rain really splitting the central bay. and then sunday afternoon by 4:00 it raelgly tapers to just isolated showers.

not anticipating a lot of rainfall. you do notice in oakland and san francisco, less than a half an inch. in the north bay, that's the best bet to see soaking showers. it's going to pick up our winds. wind gusts right now not all that active. throughout the early morning hours and tomorrow afternoon you do see san francisco has a wind gust of 44 miles per hour. and napa gusting to 43 miles per hour. so it's for that fact that we do have a wind advisory that will go into effect starting tomorrow morning at 7:00 for those winds potentially gusting to 50 miles per hour. so there is that potential once again for downed trees and also power lines coming down. it's going to be mild tonight. not falling too far from where we are right now. mid to upper 50s. then sunday, that rain arrives early in the morning then the wind pick up in the afternoon. temperatures will be above normal in the low to miss-60s.

giants pitchers and catchers report to spring training a week from thursday but the season officially began today with the annual fanfrj0zz@jlfest. majority of the players and coaches were at at&t park. great day for everyone because this is the first time they've seen each other since the world series parade. and the players for one are excited to get the band back together. >> first time we've seen each other again. you see one or two guys randomly. it's really nice to get back together and back on that mission again. >> the off season is the off season but we're all still working. you always have that date in mind, this is when i need to be ready by.

to come out here and be around the fans it is kind of like the date that you're like okay now it's really time to start buckling down. >> the giants may have lost some players in the field but their starting rotation remains intact. matt cain will return. says he feels like he's 18 again, but it's a long season and he knows he has to take it slow. >> the biggest thing for me is to ease into it a little bit. i need to know that everything's feeling good. i don't have to worry about that because my arm feels great. it's just taking the time and trying to not overdo it. we've still got a month and a half or so. that's the goal to make sure i'm ready for. torrey pines down to san diego. players honing their game.
