case died of drug-related causes. the death came four days after he was released from jail. prosecutors were unable to charge him due to lack of evidence so authorities had no choice but to release him. he became a person of interest after a security video apparently captured him near the spot where a suitcase with a torso inside wour found. police suspect the body may be that of his friend who is missing. the medical examiner has yet to determine a cause of death. we spoke with a friend who says the last time he saw him was friday and said he maintained his innocence and asked for a sleeping bag. >> i look down and i said good to see him. i don't know what the problem was. we stood up and he said can i

7 hd. >> the heaviest of the rain has pushed out of the bay area but we are tracking pockets of rainfall. take a look at live doppler 7 hd. activity right around san francisco, the city about to be inundated with isolated heavier pockets of rain indicating isolated down pours pushing in from the west. as we move to the south bay still wet weather. light showers continue to fall at this hour. we saw steady rain throughout sunday. sfo with over an inch of rain. oakland just shy of an inch of rain. winds were whipping. peak wind gusts 49 miles per hour. sfo at 45 miles per hour. oakland with wind gusts of 44 miles per hour. taking a look at the next 12 hours we still see scattered pockets of showers across the region as well as gusty winds from 20 to 40 miles per hour. those winds will keep us rather

mild in the 50s and 60s. we have a chance of rain on your monday. we will time it out for you with the full forecast in just a few minutes. >> thank you. several days of wind and rain have taken their toll on the bay area. abc 7 news reporter is live in nevada with a look at the storm damage. >> reporter: a lot of the damage happened here in the rome family's backyard. this huge tree fell smashing this backyard gazebo in two. saturated ground likely to blame for the tree falling. the storm caused big problems. the chp says wet roads may have caused this gas tanker to overturn spilling 4,000 gallons of gas into a culvert. haz-mat crews were on scene trying to clean it up. >> the good news it has been raining so much it is heavily diluted. >> i think it is terrible devastating. >> always thought the bay tree

in hur backyard would stand forever but the tree toppled taking out her backyard gazebo and just missing her roof line by inches. >> good thing nobody was in the backyard at the time. >> very good nobody was home at that time. you never know. they don't give you a warning like i'm going to come down. >> reporter: nevada building inspectors have green tagged her home. the family can stay but must keep away from back windows until the tree is gone. tree crews have a big job removing it. in san francisco a car wreck on southbound 101 near oyster point boulevard when a taxi and car collided after a possible spinout. no injuries. i was sitting down in my living room and i see the big tree coming down. >> reporter: a shock when this 30 foot tree tumbled right across luckily missing any

passing cars. in san francisco heavy rain caused lots of street flooding. umbrellas were put to good use. darled and heidi arnold are visiting from ohio. >> came to see the sea lions. >> reporter: the rain just a small dent in the drought but the bay area needs every drop. >> take a look at this. a tree toppled falling on to a car this morning in the berkeley hills. the tree fell when saturated soil gave way. a second car was also damaged. you can see the tree blocked the entire street. in santa clara county part of highway 9 was closed this afternoon when a large tree branch fell across the roadway near red wood road. the tree knocked down power lines and trapping at least one car between the tree and power lines. the wires were not on the car and no one was hurt. fire crews have made progress containing a large

wildfire that has destroyed 40 homes and forced two towns to evacuate. the fire is burning near the nevada state line. it has destroyed about 7,000 acres. officials say the fire is 65% contained. dozens of power poles have come down creating hazards for 250 residents who have been evacuated. meanwhile, firefighters are relieved that strong winds which have been fuelling the fire have died down. >> when you are dealing with 50 to 70 miles per hour sustained winds for a three hour period everything the wind is at your face. it's difficult to stand. smoke is in your face. it absolutely hampers efforts. you can't breathe. you can't see. >> three people have been hurt. the fire started friday near highway 395. the cause is under investigation. abc 7 can help you track a storm anytime with live doppler 7 hd. the app is free on apple's app

police are looking at bruce jenner's phone records after he was involved in a deadly car crash. officers want to know if the reality star and former olympian was talking or texting right before his suv slammed into a car that had rear ended another car. the woman in the car died. tmz reports jenner was holding a cigarette, not a phone, right before the crash. jenner was not hurt. samsung has been forced to defend its smart tv policy. the policy reads beware if spoken words include personal or sensitive information that will be among data captured and transmitted to a third party through your use of voice recognition. samsung's smart tvs have internet access and can be controlled using your voice. the privacy policy warns consumers that what they say will be collected as data and
