will introduce the president addressing the summit here in stanford this morning. the president arrived last night in the bay area and stayed at the fair pop hotel in san francisco. the white house describes the event as "milestone in efforts to strengthen the cyber defenses." president obama wants members of the private sector to share information about threats to cyber security with each other and with the federal government. the white house says the information sharing will help businesses work degree to respond to data breaches. probe will sign an executive order today encouraging the creation of organizations where leads of cyber security threats can be shared and analyzed. the c.e.o. of the company that makes turbo tax and other financial management software says it is important. >> the only way to stop cyber fraud is with public and private collaboration. >> president obama will reveal details of the newly formed

government center for cyber security in response to big named breaches. sony was hack and a large scale cyber attack on anthem health insurance and other breaches at retailerring including summit. the summit starts at 8:45 and the president will speak at 11:15. >> after the cyber security summit president obama will return to san francisco for a democratic fundraiser at the home of venture capitalist robinson with 60 people expected to send. it is small. each paying at least $10,000 for dinner and a photo. the president will then head to palm springs tomorrow morning. we will have coverage of the visit all day today on air and online with reporting at twitter@abc7newsbayarea. the national weather service issue add high surf advisory and hire rip current warning for the beaches. that is not stopping people from heading to the beaches. the air is warm.

there is little win. and are testing the water. yesterday morning, two surfers were rescued after being caught in rip tides in marin county. the sonoma county sheriff helicopter pulled a man from the 8' surf and the other made it back. both are okay. the beach warning is in affect through tomorrow. >> caltran in marin will close the lower par of the park-'n-ride lot because of the high tide that sends bay water flowing into the lot at the junction of highway 101 and shoreline highway. it re-opens monday february 23. caltrain turned on the message sign to let people know. >> residents of kensington demand answering after learning an officer lost his gun and badge to a prostitute. why did the incident not come to light until contra costa times uncovered it? our reporter was at a meeting where residents showed their

covering novato oakland, sunnyvale and all the bay area this is abc7 news. san francisco police are looking for a man accused of assaulting an officer and knocking hit off a muni platform. these surveillance video were released hoping someone will recognize this man in the pictures. this happened last month. according to investigators, the officers were questioning the suspect and he took off and charged at an officer. the officer fell off the raised platform near 4th and on to the street below. he was not seriously hurt. the suspect got away. >> we are looking for the top of the line valentine's day gift but not sure if you can top this. a woman from marin county gave

>> state fish and wildlife officials are close to identifying the mystery goo oil that soiled several hundred birds after being covered in the goo three weeks ago. they do not know exactly what it is but it was a mix of non-poem fats and oils and possibly a seed oil. it degraded into a sticky goo difficult to remove from the feathers. 300 birds died as a result and 200 others are contaminated. a batch of survivors was released yesterday but nearly 100 are stillening rehabilitated
