live from the kgo-tv broadcast center. this is abc7 news. >> president obama is out on s-the town. dining with bay area tech titans including tesla's ilan musk. it was a whirlwind visit that had him flying through the bay area and speeding through the streets. >> sergio was the first reporter outside the presidio heights restaurant, spruce, where the president dined tonight. >> he tweeted the picture of the president's motorcade and he is live where the president is spending the evening. sergio? >> the president returned to the hotel this evening after a fundraiser here onrush sheen hill. on russian hill. he came here and then took off on an unannounced dinner event. at that event we talked to quite a few residents who said they were happy to have the

president this their neighborhood and a few were even able to go into the exclusive restaurant to vent for a few minutes. even while the president was in there. >> picked the wrong night to go in when obama is next to our house. >> we wanted cookies. local folks looking for a little evening sweet. all we had to do was say we wanted some cookies. >> president obama left what turned out to be the power dinner event about an hour ago. spruce restaurant in presidio heights suddenly became the place to be in the city. the tesla founder was among the guests there. it comes from the $10,000 a plate fundraiser. >> and here i am. barack obama was on my list. i can't believe it. i just saw his face. i looked right at it. i can't believe it.

it is my dream come true. >> susie siegle was the most excited obama fan i have ever seen. she hopes to meet the president one day. but being so close to him even if he he was riding in an armored suv that is good enough for now. only a few turned out today. one group spoke out against the use of drones by the u.s. military and hopes that the president will press for a single system. spectators were kept a city block away. the president will remain on the west coast for part of the rest of the weekend. he will be flying to palm springs tomorrow morning. reporting live in san francisco, abc7 news. >> thanks very much. earlier today the president spoke at the stanford university cyber security conference using jokes to keep the mood a bit light. >> it is too easy for hackers

to figure out user names and pass words like pass word or 1, 2 3, 4 5. those are some of my previous pass words. i have changed them since then. >> he signed an executive order to encourage tech companies to stop cyber threats. >> the bomb squad hazmat, police and firefighters flooded an upscale novato neighborhood. they discovered 80 explosive devices. alan wang is live where he has been gathering more information. alan? >> the sheriff department says they were following the suspect because she threatened someone. when they pulled her over they found explosives in her car which lead to a search of her home and a surprise for everyone including her roommate. >> she is a great mother. i mean she is a really sweet person. >> joy brown was floored when

police arrested her roommate 43-year-old loreen mason. the bomb squad found mason's bedroom full of explosives. >> she has the moster bedroom and keeps her door locked. if they were in there, we didn't know brrrr it. >> they say mason ignited explosives to intimidate someone. residents complained of loud explosions during the week. this morning police searched mason's home in this upscale neighborhood and discovered 87 explosive devices. >> apparently they were so loud they were going off across town. >> homes in the immediate area were evacuated and other neighbors were ordered to stay inside. police also found bomb-maked ingredients in the home. mason was charged with endangering her 5-year-old daughter who lives in the house and her 33-year-old daughter is possessing one of the explosive devices. alan wang abc7 news.

>> police want to find a person who shot a man over highway 101 in san mateo. it happened on the peninsula avenue overpass. a 19-year-old man was shot twice in the stomach. officers think he was walking on the sidewalk at the time. we are experiencing record heat as you know even summer like conditions in a lot of ways. here is a live look from our exploratorium camera in the city. sandhya patel is here with just how hot it is going to get this weekend. >> enough so you will be sweating. let's show you live doppler 7hd. we'll talk about the high temperatures first record setting in san jose. 77 degrees. the previous record for this day was 76. moffett field with a thank you record. it was 75 in santa rosa, napa and 74 in san francisco and 72 livermore and half moon bay 71. santa cruz is 82 degrees. 82. it is february. it didn't feel like february.

and they are talking to the abc7 eye team about the incident that stopped rush hour traffic and sent him to jail. >> dan noyes is here with a report you will see only on abc7. >> dan and ama preparing for this interview i got exclusive access to the case file and interviews and a chp dash camera recording. they all paint a clear picture of what really happened that day. >> they tell me this has been the worst year of their lives. their honda suv crashed on the bridge december 2013. as traffic stopped xavier carried his unconscious wife to the edge of the bridge but bystanders grabbed nadia and xavier fell into the water. the media ran with the prosecutor's statement that he tried to kill his wife by throwing her off the bridge. >> i want people to though that i am not a victim and that this man has never, ever, ever hurt me. >> they want you to know the whole story. before the bridge incident

they faced intense pressure, running a business together. trying to blend a family with children from two previous marriages and nadia's mother living with them. he said he started losing sleep and feeling paranoid. >> i thought nadia was seeing someone. i thought my mother-in-law was trying to kill me, poisoning my food. i didn't feel right. i felt strange. >> he called police to hair home twice proclaiming somebody was trying to break in. officers took him to marin general for a psych evaluation and he was released. the next day he wanted to skip a psychiatric appointment and go for a long drive. >> it felt like people were looking at me. and then they were talking on the phone. >> they were reporting on you. >> absolutely. >> as we got closer to the san mateo bridge my heart rate got higher and higher and it built with his own fear. >> nadia motioned to other cars for help. >> 9-1-1 emergency, what are

you reporting? >> drivers called 9-1-1. >> it looked like there was a fight going on in the vehicle. they swerved all over the road. >> prosecutors later claimed xavier tried to drive off the bridge. nadia said that's not true. >> i caused the car accident. i remember taking across to the steering wheel and purposely trying to get it to go into the guardrail so it would stop. >> xavier overcorrected and he pulled nadia from the car unconscious. >> i was asking for pell -- for help from people. >> as they got close to me they were making me paranoid. >> with nadia in his arms he backed up to the guardrail. he barrowed a cell phone to call 9-1-1 and then a trk driver -- truck driver rushed at xavier. >> he rushed ready to me and i went to put her down. as i went to put her down i

was really close to the barrier and it hit me in the back of the legs and i started falling backwards. >> >> they flipped over the guardrail. his foot sliped on to the boot and hung on to nadia and finally let go falling 15 feet. >> for a minute he was holding on to her hands and then he looked up and dropped into the water. >> many of the witnesses interest you viewed by police support xavier's version of events. >> i never seen anything that would indicate that he was trying to hurt her. >> but one day later a detective informed nadia her husband would be charged with attempted murder domestic violence and mayhem and kidnapping. >> he spent six months in jail before being released in a plea deal guilty of domestic violence and the other charges dropped. >> that was a hard thing to do is to take that plea. xavier has never hurt me. he is a big, gentle giant.

>> it makes a great novel. it has nothing to do with the truth of what happened out there that day. >> the district attorney tells me there is no question that xavier mcclinton was mentally ill, and he still knew what he was doing. >> it was just a psychotic break, well then by that description -- and i understand trying to minimize your conduct but by that description he didn't commit a crime and he shouldn't have pled guilty. >> so many rumors swirl around the couple. as they try to move forward with their business and their marriage, they wanted to do this interview to get it all behind them. >> i have become a stronger man as a result. >> expru stronger as a calm? >> we are stronger as a couple without a doubt. because of this we will get through anything together now. >> a psychiatrist said this was a one-time psychotic episode brought on by stress. he was forced to take psych meds and he was in solitary

confinement and ballooned to 280 pounds. being a personal trainer he shed the weight in a few months. i am posting the pictures at abc7news.com. they are really something to see. >> fascinating. thank you, dan. let's turn our attention to the valentine's day warm weather we've got. >> a perfect day to head outside. >> i call it a forecast that is a treat. here is a look at live doppler 7hd. a little patch of fog around half moon bay. the temperatures right now are mostly in the 50s. but oakland is 61 and san francisco is 62 degrees. san francisco is warmer than most of the country right now. take a look at these numbers. it is freezing. larry beil 17 degrees and chilly over there. exploratorium camera is looking at a beautiful view of san francisco. a warm valentine's day forecast. and we are expecting gradual cooling next week.

this was the second day of record heat. here is what is bringing us the warm high pressure, the warm weekend that is on tap with the ridge locked in. unfortunately the long range forecast may not be exactly what you want to see. it is certainly not what i want to see in the middle of february. occasional clouds and the outlook remains dry through monday, february 23rd. we are taking you out 10 days. february is starting to look like january with the exception of last week's storms. let's hope it turns around. holiday weekend for tahoe, we should be talking about snow and we are instead talking about record warmth. this will be the third day if it hits 62. sunshine on sunday and president's day. but it will be a little bit cooler in the afternoon hours and definitely chilly in the overnight hours. low 40s to mid50s. the lowest areas will start with clear conditions. and then for the afternoon here is what it will look like. in the south bay warm, 78 in

morgan hill. 77 los gatos. san jose 76 degrees. on the peninsula, mid70s san mateo and 72 in half moon bay. it is beach weather. 69 in daly city and bodega bay, upper 70s in santa rosa and calistoga. it is really just crazy. 75 in oakland and union city. the warmth holds in our valleys. 76 in walnut creek. nothing but sunshine. if you are taking part in the valentine's day pillow fight justin herman plaza in san francisco you will be happy to hear it is not going to be too hot. 67 degrees and the temperature drops off to 63. while you are duking it out with somebody you look at the accu-weather seven-day forecast. it is a sweet one for valentine's day plans. monday cooler at the coast and everybody else will have to wait until the workweek to see the temperatures come down.
