se live from the kgo tv broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. >> not even $20. you know? and he don't think, they can shoot only $20 and they shoot the people like that? >> outrage in san jose. a security guard is killed during a petty theft at a liquor store. tonight we have new details about the victim in the shooting. the security guard was well-liked and appreciated and tributes to him are growing at the scene of the crime. it happened at a shopping center on north capital avenue. >> this was a shooting that was all caught on surveillance video, evidence that police are now likely combing through. the guard was gunned down over a $20 box of cigars.

tonight's vigil included a few items the victim became known for around this strip mall. most people knew him as the security guard who wore the bright orange traffic vest so he could be seen by customers of the nightclub as they left each evening. some folks knew manny just by his first name. his car is still parked here. it was encircled by candles and decorated with white flowers. san jose police would not confirm his name. one of the only people who said anything about what happened is the liquor store owner. he said manny was checking out a commotion after two men tried to steal cigars from his store. >> he run and fall down. everything fall onto the street. >> he said one of the robbers tripped and spilt the cigars. manny tried to see if they were

hurt. didn't try to detain them. they got up and ran to a car. >> boom boom boom boom. >> the shots tore through the liquor store window and shattered a window at the club. no one was hurt in either business. one patron at the club says he didn't hear any gunfire over the music, but he quickly realized something was wrong outside. >> i saw people running to the front of the door. somebody came back and started crying. >> san jose police have not released any information on possible leads or any descriptions of the suspects in this case. >> two people were sent to the hospital tonight after this crash in alameda. the injuries are not life-threatening. the tube was shut down for about an hour. oakland firefighters have put out a smokey two-alarm fire on a ship at the port of oakland. the fire broke out around 6:00 and was under control in 40

minutes. no one was hurt. the pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing this afternoon on an east bay golf course. the pilot lost power and land the at sky west golf course in hayward. the plane took off from the hayward airport adjacent to it. this video shows the plane on the course. the fire department spokesman said one of the wings leaked about ten gallons of fuel but did not create a hazard. the pilot was the only person on the plane and he was not injured. ? less than one hour enrollment closes for covered california, the state's marketplace for obamacare. lilian kim is here with more on that. lilian? >> the goal was to get 500,000 more people to sign up for covered california than last year. so for those who haven't yet there's still time. as long as the application gets started by midnight tonight there won't be a penalty.

and the overnight low since december 1st the average temperature, about 56.4 degrees, that's almost one degree better than the current total holder for warmest winter in 1958 to 1959. today was no exception with the warm temperatures. 57 in oakland 62 in san francisco. 57 san carlos. 61 in fremont. and antioch checking in with 57 degrees. >> satellite and radar shows a sizeable storm in the pacific but it's kind of hitting a barrier. the clouds cannot advance any farther. the reason why, high pressure controlling much of the weather, bringing us dry conditions and filed temperatures mild temperatures. the high will push east on tuesday and we'll get a wind off the ocean. what that will do, increase the clouds and drop temperatures by tuesday afternoon. so the forecast into future mode we go for the holiday tomorrow. if you loved today, you're going to love tomorrow. warm and sunny with records possible once again.

snow in the eastern u.s. the historic blizzard has grounded 1900 flights nationwide. you have less than half an hour now to get health insurance under the affordable care act. enrollment for covered california, which is our state's marketplace, closes at midnight. the state's goal is to sign up 500,000 more people than last year. the fine for not having insurance is up to $325 per adult. developing news in the fight against the islamic state. egyptian warplanes have hit isis targets in libya after a video of a mass killing of egyptian christian hostages. the video released today shows the 21 victims in orange jumpsuits. the makers of the video identify themselves as the tripoli province of the islamic state group. egypt has declared a seven-day mourning period and the country's president held an emergency national security meeting today. the white house has condemned the killings mp.

the gunmen suspected in the deadly copenhagen attacks was a 22-year-old danish man with a history of violence. authorities say he may have been inspired by islamic terrorists and possible the "charlie hebdo" massacre in paris last month. three officers were wounded at a free speech event featuring a controversial cartoonist on an al qaeda wanted list. >> i've been -- i've been having a problem since 2007 and i've been through several incidents. this one was the worst, because it was never shot guns before. >> another shoot-out happened at a synagog. hours later the gunman was killed. denmark's prime minister vowed to protect freedom of speech and the jewish community. a group of international hackers have stolen up to a billion dollars from banks around the world. a report from a russian cyber

security firm says the cyber robbers would go into a bank account, add a zero to the balance, and then transfer the difference to an outside account before either the bank or the account holder noticed. they managed to do this for two years. the hackers also got atms to spit out money without using an atm card or entering a p.i.n. code. a full report on the harking is due out tomorrow. the federal government has announced plans for regulating commercial drones. among other things the fed rail aviation administration wants operators to pass a knowledge test and a federal security test and keep drones within sight of operators at all time and refrain from flying drones at night. final versions of the rules are at least two years away. right now it's almost impossible to fly drones legally for commercial purposes. president obama spent the day golfing on a private course owned by oracle co-founder larry ellison.

today he played eight hours in rancho mirage with childhood friends. the president arrived in palm springs yesterday and returns to the white house tomorrow night. back here in the bay area new details about a san francisco building that burned last month in the mission district. fire inspectors have found years of safety violations there. according to the "san francisco chronicle," officials say there were missing fire-extinguishers, blocked fire escapes, locked exits, and smoke alarms were not working at the apartment building at 22nd and mission streets. one man died in the fire and dozens of residents are displaced from their homes. the building did pass its last fire inspection in august, but officials say that was apparently because of sloppy documentation by the fire department. a century-old bay area company is shutting its doors for good tomorrow. abc 7 news first told you about sealics formula wear on friday. the company has been working all weekend to help get tuxes to

covering all the bay area, this is abc 7 news. the erottic r-rated drama "fifty shades of grey" dominated the box office this weekend. it's an adaptation of the book which sold 100 million copies. it became the top grossing film of all time for valentine's day and president's day weekend. it was also the second biggest opening ever in february. just behind the passion of the christ. 68% of the audience was women. it earned 81 million dollars
