things don't go as planned when police say a man hired a prostitute to come to his home. >> he says he was drugged, tied up beaten and then robbed. and now the search is on for the call girl crook. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm ama daetz. fremont police are looking for this woman who called herself chrissy. >> alan wang is live with the story. alan? >> dan and ama if there are more victims police think they are too scared or embarrassed to report the crime. now there is a picture of the suspect and police want to know if you know who she is. >> he admitted he solicited a prostitute on a casual encounter website. she e-mailed the picture and says the same woman showed up at his home in the area of fremont. she thinks he drugged him and when he woke up his hands were tied behind his back. three men were in the house and they along with the woman beat him until he told them

where his cash and valuables were located. >> it doesn't surprise me. all of these things that are all on-line and you are hooking up on-line you have no idea what you are walking into. >> this man said his friend solicited a prostitute from a similar website that openly advertises for. it -- for it. >> i don't think it is safe. >> and now police want your help in finding the female suspect. she is described as italian or hispanic, 18 to 22 years old. 140 to 160 pounds with red highlights in her hair. she has tattoo on her back, wrists and arms as well as three stars on her chest. in fremont, alan wang, abc7 news. >> a popular volleyball coach in santa cruz is accused of trying to have sex with a minor. they arrested -- they announced the arrest and they say he has been in contact

with the girl since he met her three years ago at club shoreline volleyball. >> fire burned through a vineyard storage building. it started after 8:00 just southwest of downtown napa. the fire destroyed tractors cars stored chemicals and propane tanks. they had to redirect traffic in the area. firefighters now have it under control. tonight we are getting a good look at the gunman responsible for killing a san jose security guard on valentine's day. manny zuniga was shot after men stole $20 worth of cigars from a liquor store. the tapes you are watching are a crucial piece of evidence for investigators. lisa amin gulezian is live with the latest on this story. lisa? >> dan the video shows exactly what went down before the shooting. the victim wasn't even working for the liquor store at the time. he was simply nearby and trying to help. tonight family and friends want answers.

the group of suspects walked into liquor for less. they didn't stay long and they all left. but then a man came back in grabbed a display and ran out. he tripped and fell. the security guard was standing nearby when he tried to help he was shot and killed. >> i feel nervous still. >> he feels uneasy about working the night shift. the bullet hole in the window is a clear reminder of what happened. outside the liquor store the memorial keeps growing. tonight the victim's family visited the spot where the 34-year-old died. zuniga's mother and siblings didn't stay long. it was all just too emotional. but many are hopeful that the surveillance video will help police. >> at least they -- at least the family can know that the person that took their special person away is now serving for

the crime they did. >> there was no security tonight. the restaurant club zuniga worked for at the time of the shooting and the entire security team quit last night. his funeral will take place next wednesday. in san jose, lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. a santa clara university student faces attempted murder charges for stabbing his roommate near campus. dillon kim was booked into the county jail and he was also injured. you can see stitches on his neck. police say kim's injuries were self-inflicted. the roommate was cut several times, but his wounds are not life-threatening. >> a broken beacon that helps ships move safely has been fixed. the beacon has not worked for nearly five months and attempts to repair it have failed. hundreds of ships have gone through during that period of time. two other beacons were okay. the state transportation

authorities blame a manufacture er -- manufacturer defect. meantime, operations resumed at the port of oakland after the labor tension forced a weekend shutdown. the u.s. secretary of labor joined the contract talks in san francisco. tonight he said that they have been positive and productive and will meet with both sides tomorrow. the on going dispute will cost american businesses however hundreds of millions of dollars. >> if you are an hourly worker in california new legislation would require your boss to give you more stability. assemblyman from san francisco wants a food and retail establishment with 500 or more employees to give a two-week scheduling notice. workers would get additional pay of last-minute schedule changes. california would be the first state to require these work changes. here is a question. would you be willing to live forever in history books but perhaps never be here to see it? the pool of candidates willing to go colonize mars has been

narrowed to a hundred people and several from the bay area. lilian kim spoke with a couple of them tonight. >> imagine leaving the comforts of home to live here. mars is a cold and hostile place. once the colonists arrive there is no coming back. 50-year-old peter felgintreff is happy at his home and enjoying his career in tech. he is willing to leave it behind. he is one of a hundred people selected to begin to train to colonize mars. they were narrowed from a pool of 200,000 men and women from all over world. >> ultimately it has to do with working with people and being able to be in an environment that could be monotonous at times but still stay engaged. >> the nonprofit mars 1 foundation will be setting up out posts on remote corners of the earth to train the 100 candidates this fall. it will include scenarios of what could happen during their time on mars like running out

gained weight. but wasn't the only reason. >> michael phelps would need to do about 10 hours of continuous butterfly strokes to burn 12,000 calories a day. >> the uc irvine professor believes it was triggered by the chilly temperature of the pool and its affect on a substance in our body known as brown fat. to take advantage of the effect hayes designed the called shoulder. it is an ice vest developed to help patients lose weight. >> it enduces comfortable mild cold exposure and our trial shows it burns 500 calories a day twice a day for an hour each. >> for awhile they know that you produce heat as you burn calories and the same is true for human babies. lowering the body temperature can trigger the same calorie burning mechanism in adults. >> your body has to maintain 98.6 to be healthy. your body will go to whatever measures are necessary. >> in fact, several major

research groups are interested in harnessing the calorie burning power of brown fat. the team at san francisco's gladstone institutes are looking for a drug that will turn common white fat that stores energy to brown fat that burns it. >> basically the brown fat when activated can burn energy stored in the white fat. so that actually has an indication for treating, for example, obesity or diabetes. >> he believes a drug to enduce the fat-burning effect known as thermo genesis could be on the horizon within a decade. back at uc irvine they have documented results from the freeze vest in early trials. the test subject says his ratio of body fat dropped from 15% down to 12% during the trial. >> i was a little skeptical. oh wear a vest, lose weight. sure. >> the challenge for most people is being cold for two hours every day. but for the motivated,

want parking your car. a wisconsin man said his foot was stuck on the accelerator when he hit nine vehicles, nine, in the parking lot of a piggly wiggly grocery store. the 92-year-old slammed into several cars and then backward into more. on his way out he clipped a car ripping off its front bumper. but he wasn't done. he slammed into a pick up truck and that happens. all of this mayhem and at least no one was injured. a lot of cars damaged. call the insurance adjuster. >> absolutely. well the wisconsin weather, nothing likee what we have here. it cooled off but it is much better than what they are dealing with. >> it is brutal. sandhya patel ising traying the weather and here we did see some real change. >> we did. it was a dramatic shift in the weather with temperatures dropping. the marine layer is returning. it deepened so much it never cleared the bay area. it is here on live doppler 7hd. just to put things in perspective we went from spring-like warmth to

red cross put us in a hotel so we were able to stay together. we're strong and if we overcame that or if we can overcome that we can overcome anything, so. [ sniffle ] good evening. the struggling sharks ran into the worst thing possible in nashville. the best goalie in the league. he made a season high 42 saves and the sharks had no chance. 22 degrees in nashville tonight. traffic and weather together. officials told residents to stay home if possible and the sharks would have been happy to stay home. although matt erwin gave them the lead and tas when things went -- and that's when things went wrong.

for the 2016 olympics in rio. missy won four gold medals in the london games at age 17. she spent the last two years at cal. she will turn pro and then spend all of her time training. she says she will complete her degree at some point but going pro means cashing in on olympic gold. >> basically i will be able to accept money and have sponsorships and endorsement deals where i wasn't able to accept prize money. i will be able to start my job and career and it will sustain my future family for awhile. >> pablo sandoval has arrived and he is a full grown panda at this point. it is one of the reasons they had concerns about giving him $100 million. now to the westminster dog show. i have to meet this poodle stylist.
