threw them on to a road in santa cruz county. >> our reporter has the story. >> this miniature mix appears to be doing better arriving at the santa cruz animal shelter three days ago after she and her purpose by were found dumped on the road. >> starting to do better than in the beginning she was very -- not eating too much but now she is doing better. officers took photos of the doc when they arrived and discovered her dead puppy lying next to her. based on the evidence officers say someone stuffed them in a sandbag and tossed them out of the car. >> they treated the animals as if they were garbage and drove to a location in the county known to be a dumping ground for unwanted garbage couches, and dryers and the sandbag is sealed and the person responsible tied it shut but the dog escaped by chewing her way out of the bag. she did not suffer injuries shelter workers say she is still dreaming over the loss of her puppy who died of head trauma.

the shimmering lights install on the bay bridge will be turned off next week. caltrain is pulling the plug on the bay lights display on thursday, so it can do maintenance on the bridge cables. the lights will be reinstalled in 2015 just in time for super bowl 50, it will be a permanent display the largest worm's light sculpture.
