live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. hercules police are investigating the first homicide of the residential neighborhood in two years. a man is dead. a woman is critically injured. the suspect is under arrest. thanks for joining us. i am kristen sze. >> investigators believe it began with a fight witnesses saw between two men outside a home on buttercup court. amy hollyfield is at the scene with the special request police have for residents. they are asking for surveillance video for anyone in the flowers neighborhood that has a camera to check and it see if they got anything good define the hours of noon and 3:00 yesterday any images to help

police. they are asking people turn it over to investigators. a sleepless night for many in this hercules neighborhood knowing that a neighbor was murdered. >> did not sleep well. i woke at 1:00 o'clock and saw the lights still on with the police and the f.b.i. >> police made an arrest in the case. they say they have physical evidence and a witness that places the man in the driveway fighting with murder victim. >> he had blood on him when he was arrested and he was positively identified by our witness as the person who was seen attacking our victim. >> a woman was found unconscious inside the home. police say she is in critical condition. >> residents have a hard time believing it could happen here. >> it is a surprise. this is a quiet community. people here are keeping to their own business. we do not have much trouble.

>> police have not given a motive but the man behind the victim's home think it was a home invasion gone wrong pointing to a ripped window screen as the first clue. >> that is a possibility. we are not going to label it as that because we do fault know -- not know. >> at this point it does not appear the 50 something else victims knew the suspect in his 20. the victim's presence will be missed. >> when i saw him outside he would say hello how are you, like that. it is very devastating. >> police found a gun at the scene at the home. they say it turned out to be a fake gun. they do not know who it belonged to. thank you. we have an update on a large measles outbreak this california from the health department. new strains are reported.

there are 126 confirmed cases of measles in california since the outbreak started in december. half affect adult over the able of 20. in the bay area alameda has six, san mateo they santa clara three, contra costa has one, and solano has one case. >> a vallejo teen is in trouble for bringing a loaded and still were gun to school. police arrested the 17-year-old at the high school yesterday. officers got a report that specific students had guns on campus and they got there a teen took off and on officers chased him the he tried to ditch a gun and was taken into custody. police say the gun was reported stolen from san leandro. >> new details on a stubbing case in the north bay three men have new been arrested and are in jail accused of kidnapping a woman and brutally raping raping and beat her for weeks before she

escaped. now to the newsroom. >> woman was held against her will for two months but no one reported her missing and she escaped when a captor left a door open. the sheriff deputies arrested three men in connection withholding the woman hostage, beating and raping her all scheduled to be in court tomorrow in santa rosa for that the arraignment. in custody is 34-year-old jose barajas-mireles who is the mastermind behind this and is facing multiple charges including aggravate rape. they also arrested a 34-year-old avina and a 52-year-old cisneros accused of guarding the victim to make sure she did not escape. this is the home where the alleged abuse took place. it is a gated property on stony point road in santa rosa. the sheriff served a search warrant there and confiscated rot and questioned several people. the three suspects were arrested when they showed up at the

department yesterday to get some of seized items returned. it appears the victim did not know the men who were holding her. she told police she was kidnapped at gunpoint but detectives now say that is not what happened. she may have given that statement because she was so traumaized. in the newsroom for abc7 news. a candlelight judge sill planned to mark the two-year anniversary of santa cruz police officers killed in the line of duty. sergeant butch baker and elizabeth butler were shot while investigating a sexual assault suspect on this day in 2013. the city council passed a resolution on tuesday declaring today bayer-butler memorial day. flags are lower to half staff around the city. a vigil brought out the community in full force with people lighting candles and laying flowers to honor the fallen. the first and only officers kill in that city's history. today, the vigil runs from 3:00 to 5:00 this afternoon at the post office.

switching gears, we think positive things about rain. maybe coming to the bay area? shear a look from of clouds moving in toward san francisco. meteorologist mike nicco is tracking it with live doppler hd. mike? >> good morning from the top of the broadcast center it is another bright day with the high clouds dimming our sunshine. the warmest afternoon is upon us. to the north, that is where the storm system is. it is headed to vancouver. and seattle and portland. it is a cold area of, say, low pressure but not with a lot of moisture. you can see the radar returns are not that impress. the storm system slides toward us it will keep high clouds and freezes in the sky but dry until tomorrow that is what the light showers will be developing with snow in the sierra. the big concern is saturday with a possibility of a thunderstorm

or two and small hail and snow is heavier in the sierra. that is coming up in the big forecast. we have good news streets are getting safer, the most dangerous streets for pedestrians. a new report from the highway association says that less pedestrians killed than in 2013 for the first month. california is the second worse state for pedestrian deaths behind florida. hour numbers combined with the other three states florida, texas and new york make up half of all deaths in the united states for pedestrians. >> part of the plan do cut back on pedestrian deaths san francisco is hard at work on new crosswalks painting zebra lines to make them more visible. the crosswalks have been used near schools but the plan is to repaint hundreds of crosswalks on the busy streets. officials say it is a quick and

inexpensive way to improve state. >> union supporters of those who shuttle around apple employees are protesting outside the cupertino headquarters this morning ahead of the vote to join the team materials union. matt keller is at apple campus. matt? >> teamsters were successful unionizing the drivers at facebook now they are trying to take a bite out of apple and other silicon valley companies. >> teamsters truck into cupertino to protest working conditions for 120 full and part time shuttle bus drivers who work at apple and yahoo and ebay contracted through compass traps. union officials say that the drivers get low wages and benefit packages and often woring split shifts with long waits in between. >> it is about sharing the wealth. their workers are making a lot
