it sounds like there's like a serial predator out there. looking for girls. >> the search is on in the east bay for a man police say tried to kidnap a teenage girl. the same suspect may be linked to another attempted kidnapping two weeks ago. i'm katie marzullo. cornell bernard is live at the hayward police department. people are telling you they have seen this man before? >> reporter: yes, many say they have seen this man around town before. more than once. and tonight police are on the lookout. >> scary to you? >> yes. i have two little kids.

>> she is worried after police say 125-year-old girl was walking home from school on whitman avenue hen this man tried to pull her into his white sedan, possibly a honda. she victim got away and gave this information, a thin white man, 20s 5'7" wearing prescription glasses, scruffy beard. >> i have seen him walking over here. >> she has seen him. >> wanda's daughter taylor swears she has seen him, too. >> yes, by my school. >> you think? >> yes, he was just walking. wasn't doing anything. >> last month a map wearing a hoodie matching a similar description tried to kidnap a 14-year-old girl into his white sedan. she got away. police are connecting the crimes. >> but we are actively pursuing

the theory these two cases could be related. >> parents are on alert. >> you can't allow your girls to walk alone or even your boys. >> you let your daughter walk home from school by herself and. >> absolutely no. i don't let any kid catch the b.a.r.t., bus or anything like that. >> those who recognize the suspect plan to call police, as the search for him continues. >> eight people were injured when the roof of a garage collapsed during a prest. patrick's day block party. this is video posted by the college newspaper. up to 40 people were standing on top of the garage when it collapsed. at least 1500 people attended the event. officials say one person was impaled by a piece of wood. sevens were treated for minor injuries. san jose police are investigating a double-shooting that left one man dad and another injured it happened around 2:00 this morning on oak street. police found two male victims

both in their early 20s in front of a home. each man had been shot at least once. the suspects got away. this is san jose's sixth homocide of the year eight homocide's have been reported by this time last injury. a historic day in alabama. today is the 50th anniversary of the selma riots, turning point in the civil rights movement. today president obama stood in solidarity and remembrance with survivors of the day known as bloody sun day. congresswoman barbara lee of oakland was at the ceremony. mary bus bruce has more. >> the nation first african-american president walking in the footsteps of the freedom fighters who paved his future and altered history here 50 years ago today. thousands gathered in selma to remember that day in 1965 when peaceful protesters marched chaos the edmund pettus bridge

demanding equality. they were met with violence. state troopers armed with clubs and tear gas. it was a tipping point that proved the power of nonviolence to spark change and spurred congress to pass the voting rights act. >> it was not a clash of armies but a clash of wills. a contest to determine the true meaning of america. >> but for all the progress made echos of selma remain, in the shooting deaths of unarmed black men by white police officers. to the rolling back of the voting rights act. the president enlisted the next generation who came to witness this moment in history to come together to be foot soldiers for change. >> we know the march is not yet over. we know the race is not yet won. >> and that message was felt here today so many people telling us they came not just to remember or to cross that
