good monday morning. we have to start with yet another american city starting the week off in the grips of growing racial tensions. >> a vigil was held for a young black man shot and killed friday by a white police officer who says the man tried to attack him. >> the officer has been placed on administrative leave. as community leaders urge protesters to exercise restraint. abc's susan sulny with the latest. >> what's his name? >> tony robinson. >> reporter: the college town of madison wisconsin on edge after a weekend of protests for an unarmed black 19-year-old who was shot and killed by a white police officer. 45-year-old matt kinny. >> i just want everyone to know that tony was one of the best people i knew. >> when anybody dies in our community and there's an incident like this, this is not a black issue, this is not a white issue, this is a humanitarian issue. >> reporter: the officer responded to disturbance calls

about robinson's behavior. >> yelling in front of cars apparently, tony hit one of his friends. >> reporter: the officer forced his way into the home where the authorities say robinson assaulted him. he opened fire. robinson was under supervision after pleading guilty to armed robbery. last year. the state officials opened an investigation is opened into his death while community leaders are trying to bring a divided city back together. >> don't pass judgment on this young man or on law enforcement officials. the facts will come out. >> reporter: the police chief was among those remembering tony robinson over the weekend. he said the city is trying to avoid so many of the missteps that caused anger in ferguson, missouri. abc news, washington. >> another story of racial tension developing over the past few hours. a fraternity chapter at the university of oklahoma shut down after this video surfaced online. it appears to show members using a racial chant.

the members using a racial slur several times and alluding to lynching. the national headquarters abruptly closing the ou chapter overnight and the university is investigating. a tweet showed vandalism at the sae house with the words "tear it down". >> turning to some politics. the growing pressure on hillary clinton over the private e-mails she used. as secretary of state. even some of her supporters saying it's time for clinton to speak out. here now abc's bazi kanani. >> reporter: hillary clinton in the spotlight. >> chelsea and i did a little talk on snapchat. >> while the former secretary of state isn't taking questions about her decision to use a private e-mail account for government business. her husband and daughter faced questions at a event sunday. chelsea told reporters -- >> as her daughter, we e-mail things about thanksgiving dinner and our plans to watch a movie on friday night. in terms of her official e-mails, you'll have to ask her.

>> bill clinton also had a bias. clinton's former boss says he didn't know about her private account and president obama told how he found out. >> at the same time everybody else learned it through news reports. the policy of my administration is to encourage transparency. and that's why my e-mails, the blackberry that i carry around, all the records are available and archived. >> clinton is not the first secretary of state to use private e-mail. general powell also used some correspondence from a private account. >> a lot of the e-mails went into the state department system addressed to the employees and the state.gov domain. >> on abc's "this week" he told george stephanopoulos that he couldn't comment on clinton. but when the department asked him to turn over his e-mails, he didn't save them. still, colleagues and critics say clinton should start talking. >> i think that she needs to step up and come out and state exactly what the situation is.

>> once this shadow of doubt has been placed, i think it's going to linger throughout a presidential campaign should she decide to run. >> abc news, washington. >> there won't be any questions about south carolina's senator linsey graham's e-mail. he hasn't sent any. maybe ever. he's been in congress for 20 years and he does not have an e-mail account. graham is on the subcommittee which oversees privacy, law and get this, technology. >> there must be something liberating about that. we learned overnight about a extraordinary letter sent by 47 republic senators to iran in regard to the talks on sunday. the letter warns that any nuclear agreement it signs with the u.s. will expire with president obama's term saying president obama will leave office in january of 2017 while most of us will remain in office well beyond, perhaps decades.

among those signing. possible presidential candidates marco rubio, rand paul and ted cruz. the letter is meant to pressure president obama. to give congress some say in the process. >> one year ago sunday that malaysia airlines flight 370 disappeared. becoming aviations biggest history. a new report about the doomed plane was issued on the anniversary. apparently the battery of the underwater battery beacon had expired more than a year before the plane vanished. so it might not have been working at the time the plane went down. >> at least one person is dead after a mining accident in west virginia. two other miners were injured when the roof and wall collapsed. there's no word on what caused the accident. the coal mine is located about 25 miles south of wheeling near the pennsylvania border. >> $25,000 reward is being offered in the shooting of a federal judge in detroit by two men trying to break into his home. judge terrence berg was shot on his front porch trying to protect his family inside. his wife says he's doing well in the hospital this morning.

the shooting was an apparent attempted robbery and likely had nothing to do with his work as a judge or prosecutor. another shooting, this one involving star nfl running back chris johnson. he is expected to make a full recovery after being shot in the shoulder. johnson was riding in a jeep while another vehicle pulled up. someone opened fire. this was in orlando. the jeep's driver was killed. johnson spent last season with the jets and becomes an unrestricted free agent tomorrow. >> jury selection in georgia over the death of a camera assistant on the set of "midnight rider", filming of the movie taking place on a railroad bridge when a train killed sara miller. the film's director, his wife and executive producer are charged with involuntary manslaughter and trespass. csx said it twice denied the executives permission to shoot there. >> another weekend of honoring those who took part in alabama voting rights 50 years ago. promises to continue what they started.

a drone pictures you're seeing. video over the bridge in selma, alabama. this is yesterday as a a crowd of up to 20,000 people gathering. they were marching half a century since bloody sunday when demonstrators were beaten by police. the march from selma to montgomery begins this morning and scheduled to end on friday. at alabama's capital. >> a journey got underway overnight. is solo powered plane on the first ever attempt to fly around the world without a drop of fuel. it used more than 17,000 solar cells and larger than a 747 and after today's flight other stops include india, china, hawaii and here in new york. the whole thing expected to end back this summer. >> to the weather here in the nation. sunny and warm in the west coast across much of the nation as well. but much of the south still seeing heavy rain with parts of texas seeing flash flooding and up to six inches of rain.

so the car seat could have possibly been out of the water. it was along the embankment. so i don't know exactly how much of the car -- how much water was getting into the car. >> the little girl remains in critical condition. the conditions in the river so extreme that police officers and four firefighters were sent to the hospital with hypothermia. >> father east two teenagers pulled off the ice in lake michigan. south of milwaukee. they were walking along the shore. the ice broke free and floated out in the open water. firefighters managed to grab the block of ice, pulled them back to shore. nobody hurt in this one. >> and rescuing man's best friend from the frigid waters of the charles river near boston. cooper, an 8-year-old golden doodle was hiking with his owner when he got startled and ran off getting himself stranded. firefighters came to the rescue. cooper is safe and sound back with his family. >> there is growing mystery surrounding britain's version of the west minister dog show.

the investigation launched after one of the competitors died after returning home. toxicology tests being done and expected to show whether the prized dog known as jagger was poisoned. >> a couple stories from arizona starting with the high speed chase. on an interstate. the truck going over 100 miles an hour as a man inside was tossing out bales of marijuana. hundreds of pounds was still inside when it ended. most of what was thrown was lost because other drivers had stopped to pick it up. >> they didn't want to create a road hazard. i'm sure they wanted to get that stuff out of the way for people coming later. it's a road hazard. i'm sure they turned it in and collected evidence for the police. good samaritans. >> i'm not so sure that will hold up in court. a calmer scene at yesterday's spring training game in arizona. >> the start of the royals/angels game was delayed by a large swarm flying in of bees.

just got an update from police. the victim is now in stable condition. >> police did shut down the train station to look for the man who they believed push him but they were unable to find him. investigators say this started because the two men were fighting and it was 9:00 last night at the civic center station when the victim was pushed on to the tracks and police say he was hit in the hold by a train. witnesses were interviewed and the station was searched after the platform bail the crime scene. >> coming up the stairs there was a window and someone took a sledgehammer to the driver side window. the train was cleared and they interviewed a guy with a lot of cops around. >> victim was taken to the hospital with serious head injury but the update is he is in stable condition. the station has re-opened and police are looking for the man if anyone has information
