and that breaking news is a statewide amber alert out of san pedro in los angeles county. police say giovany santiago-enriquez stabbed his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend and then took off with his son, 1-year-old jaden santiago. the father is considered suicidal, so police feel that the child is in danger. santiago enriquez has contacts in mexico and the state of washington and could be traveling in either direction. he was last seen in a 2006 gray nissan altima with license plate 5 ucf 010. stay with abc7 news for any breaking updates. as always follow us on twitter, abc7 news bay area, as we continue to update this story. good afternoon, everybody. i'm larry deal.

>> i'm anna dates. the other story, the boisterous crowd out of a richmond high school. president clinton chanting president clinton president clinton >> hundreds of students went on a day-long walkout demanding the school district reverse the decision to fire a popular teacher. abc7 news reporter laura anthony is live at de anza high school in richmond with the story. laura? >> reporter: hi there. some students still out here seven hours after their demonstration began. these students walk into class and leave for the day. they stayed right here at a sit-in and demonstration. administrators here were sent a loud message. >> what do we want? >> reporter: they walked out of class after the first bell hundreds of students from richmond's de anza high school upset that a beloved teacher won't be back next year. >> with this teacher that we have now, she actually make us do work and she actually cares. she will make sure that you do everything you are supposed to do and if you don't you won't

sped here to general hospital to try to get even more information. as details of the double shooting began circulating through the community, we saw lots of emotion from people who knew the victims. according to the police, two young men were sitting in this tan camaro when they were shot multiple times. >> it looks like people walked up to that car and shot into it. >> right. and that's going to be part of the homicide investigation, appears to be targeted, why is this gang related or not? >> reporter: it happened after 9:30 this morning feet away from a crew of san francisco rec and park workers. none of them was injured but they were questioned by police in hopes they may provide information on the shooters. they were also quite a few neighborhood residents nearby using the soccer fields. this is a city park that get a lot of traffic. regulars tell us they are surprised to see this crime scene. >> yeah i was trying to get in but i saw the police cars so i just decided to bark on the street. >> kind of careless, because it

depends who and why and where they are from. >> reporter: at san francisco general hospital, we saw lots more friends and family of the two young men who were gunned down. i talked briefly with the gang task force officer who was also at the hospital. he says he knew the two victims but wouldn't say if he knew they were in a gang. in san francisco, sergio can tana abc7 news. san francisco police nabbed two thieves who apparently took a 4-year-old boy on a crime spree. police say the thieves broke into this house under construction in the know which valley district, probably looking to steal power tools and copper. when police arrived, one person ran onto a neighbor's roof to escape eventually caught by a police dog. investigators later found the child in a near pie car. besides burglary charges, the two thieves may face child endangerment charges. a palo alto student died in an apparent suicide after being hit by a cal train this morning.

the 15-year-old boy stepped in front of the train at churchill avenue at 6:25 a.m. this is the eighth person killed optical train tracks this year. seven of these deaths are believed to be sue sides. cal train, the city of palo alto and palo alto high school have programs in place designed to prevent train sue sides. a 2-year-old is expected to survive after being hit by a car in san jose this morning. it happened just after 11 a.m. at midpine and mclaughlin avenues. the little boy was taken to the hospital. he has serious injuries. sky 7 hd was above as officers investigated the scene. a neighbor said he saw the little boy playing in the front yard all by himself just minutes before the crash. >> heard a big thump. saw him laying there the middle of the street and put my hands on his shoulders like that so he wouldn't move. >> just a 2-year-old boy the driver cooperated with police. they say there's no evidence that drugs or alcohol played a

factor. the gender bias court case that has silicon valley on edge takes a turn today. the plaintiff, ellen powell, took its stand, suing her former venture capital firm for gender discrimination and retaliation. abc7 news reporter tiffany wilson was in court for testimony and live outside san francisco superior court. tiffany? >> reporter: during the past ten days, the jury heard testimony describing ellen powell as curt harsh, dismiss sive but today on the stand, she came across as calm, comfortable and very intel jeptd. powell walked through her expensive education and work experience and says she initially turned down the offer from perkins pause it was too junior. powell says she eventually sent a 2012 memo about gender discrimination at kleiner perkins pause she saw junior male partners getting promoted but equally qualified women were not. she also felt women were sometimes treated with disrespect and a female colleague complained about being sexually harass. powell testified that a married

partner she had an affair with man nip lated her. saying "when i found out he had lied to me and his wife had not left him i ended it immediately and permanently. i was furious." powell says she initially thought they could maintain a working relationship but in the following months, he made her job more difficult. from an e-mail she sent "okay this is the second time you've cut me out of the loop. i thought we had moved past it. but if you want to not communicate or work together that's fine." powell testified that after hearing that several ad mines had been har rashed she brought up the affair to senior partners. one partner told her that he was a sex addict. another detailed his own office affair and told powell not to make a mountain out of a molehill. powell is expected to return to the stand tomorrow. live in san francisco, tiffany wilson abc7 news. kids are back playing this afternoon in the dolores park sand pox.

the play area closed since mid-february after vandals smashed beer bolts and left shattered glass in the sand. crews had to remove all the sand and block off the sand box but reopened today thanks to a mexican company that donated 20 tons of new sand. they have supplieded in building materials to the bay bridge and the transbay terminal construction as well. what a gorgeous weekend it was as we bring in spencer christian. i have to make a confession, one of us on the set was thinking about calling in sick so nice today, alma decided to come to work. >> oh, right right right. >> all i can say. >> crossed my mind as well. i figure someone had to hold down the fort here. look what is going on with our lovely weather. live doppler 7 hd. some low clouds near the coast. the coastline was a bit cooler today than it has been of late. we had lots of sunshine inland and lots of mild weather. here is a look toward the golden gate from our sutro tower camera, see the low clouds beginning to push through the dpg there but lots of blue sky

h a major rail accident in north carolina injured 40 people a big rig hit a train stalled on the tracks in virginia. the engine and second car derailed. none of the injuries was life threatening. as you can see, a container from that truck also fell off, sending debris everywhere. that amtrak train runs between charlotte and work in every day. authorities hope surveillance video can help them find the man who pushed someone into a muni train last night investigators two men were fighting on a platform at the civic center station around 9:00 a station agent called police. one pushed the other so hard his head broke a win don't side of the muni train.

he is still in the hospital with a serious head injury. muni officials say they have no idea why the pair was fighting. buckle up if you're a 49ers fan. stunning news involving the niners from the abrupt apparent retirement of all pro linebacker patrick willis to trade rumors and denials in connection with quarterback colin kaepernick. let us start with willis, who missed half of last season because of a nagging toe injury that required surgery. he has been a tackling machine for eight years. his body has taken a beating. willis was working out as late as last week. so everybody expected him back. this is kind of shocking news. the fill-in for willis will move up as the full-time starter. along with willis, the expectation is that justin smith will retire. there is a little bit of waffling, we will know more next week for sure. the man nicknamed the cowboy has been the anchor of that defensive line and he also has been hampered by injuries the past couple of years. you lose defensive leaders like willis and smith and it is

enormous. late last night, a report out of houston indicated the niners were shopping colin kaepernick for a possible trade. kap up and down, clearly with jim harbaugh's guy, harbaugh's in michigan now. niner gm trent baalke strongly denied the report but this creates more questions and instability around this franchise. and when free agency officially dips in the nfl tomorrow, the niners' all-time leading rusher frank gore will sign with the eagles. only last week, owner jed york said he thought the niners would be able to work something out with gore. the eagles will give him 7.5 million guaranteed for two years and gore felt the niners were trying to phase him out. on top of that, word late this afternoon that guard mike iupati will sign with the arizona cardinals. he is one of the best linemen. had an off year last season. >> mind boggle ing trying to keep that all straight. the head coach what are you thinking at this point? >> yikes. my first job.

there. >> complete unsteadiness and unknown for the red and gold right now. >> all right. all right. moving on to other news, so far, so good for the solar-powered plane attempting to fly around the world without even a drop of fuel. >> the aircraft is called the solar impulse ii. it landed in oman this evening took off from abu dhabi this morning. making that 250-mile trip in about 12 hours. >> the plane has a wing span wider than a 747 but weighs only about two tons. one of the plane's two pilots likes his team's chances. >> i'm sure we are all confident and hopefully, we will be able to see each other here in five months. >> like he said, the trip is scheduled to take five months. the plane will stop at various location around the globe, crossing both the pacific and atlantic oceans. the crew will use the various stops not only to carry out maintenance but to campaign for clean technologies. plenty of sun around here. >> yeah.

>> fly here for days and days and days. >> spencer christian is here with our accuweather forecast. hi spencer. >> hey, ama, hey, larry. sunshine pattern will change a bit but not dramatically. low clouds at the coast, sunny skies over the bay and inland, you probably know that already a lovely day, how it looks at the golden gate bridge now with the low clouds obscuring your view of the sky. these are our forecast features see clouds increasing tonight and tomorrow. spotty showers arrive on wednesday. there's your rainfall. then we will have a drier warmer pattern developing for the weekend. satellite image shows a little area of high pressure still dominant feature in our picture but perhaps bringing us low clouds -- high clouds rather and coastal fog. here is the system that's going to bring must our next bout of rainfall, light rain on wednesday. so let's start our forecast animation tuesday night. tomorrow night, 11:00 at which point, we will see extensive areas of cloudiness, then during the overnight hours into early wednesday morning we will see a

little isolated areas of light rain or showers developing. call it spotty showers, the early morning commute. we don't expect widespread rainfall for the morning commute. doesn't look like weather will be a major factor in the commute. during the day wednesday we will see widely scattered or light pockets of shower activity as well, even into the late afternoon and early evening hours, you once again, we don't expect a lot of rain to move through about this system. and by late wednesday night, should be all over. now, by 11:00 wednesday night, we expect rainfall totals to be no greater than about a tenth of an inch, quarter of an inch in the north bay which will be a little bit wetter than the remainder of the bay area. south bay, some locations receive no measurable locations as well. others up to 500ths of an inch. not a major rainfall system, we need the rain badly, let's embrace this one. overnight, fog at the coast low clouds, low temperatures upper 40s to around 50. tomorrow, we will see partly cloudy mainly sunny skies in the south bay low to middle 70s there, low 70s on the peninsula. only upper 50s to about 60 on

look here as the pot goes flying in arizona. the sheriff's office posted this video on facebook. those are bales of marijuana coming at you being thrown from the speeding suv. officers arrested two people in the vehicle. they also discovered a stash house. they weren't able to get all the pot though. they say at least four involved drivers happened by stopped and picked up the discarded marijuana. those look like might be mine. the deputies recovered total still of 374 pounds. >> geez. well a medical treatment for double chins, who are america's most satisfied workers? >> jane king has that and more. here is today's wellness report. >> an injection to treat double

chips cleared its first hurtle toward final approval. it was created by a company the first in the u.s. to reduce localized fat deposits. a panel meets today to recommend the drug to the fda whether it should be approved. a plan of 16 weeks fully paid leave for maternity plus a 30-hour workweek for six months after the woman returns to work actually ends up saving a company money. it found there are hidden costs when women don't come back to work in training and lost talent. results are in from the test for antibiotics in milk. the fda study showed little evidence of drug contamination after serving 2,000 dairy farms. the fda tested the farms for 31 drugs. almost all of them antibiotics. found that less than 1% of the total sample showed up and they say this is encourageing reinforce the idea the milk supply is safe. what are the happiest jobs in america?

nd in headlines where you live at 4:30 an emotional scene at san francisco's crocker amazon play ground as those who knew the victims of a double shooting arrived at the scene. pot victims died. police say it appears the men were shot this morning while sitting inside that cam mare row. abc7 news reporter sergio can tan what and covering the story and tweeted as police questioned witnesses. several park workers in the area were there at the time. jonathan bloom has been tweeting from apple's big unveiling of its smart watch and new two-pound macbook.

he tweets the higher end apple watch edition will start at $10,000. also, shut down and kicked out, members of a university of oklahoma fraternity have until tomorrow night to leave their frat house. this comes after a video surfaced this weekend of members taking part in a racist chant. abc news reporter karen travers has more. >> reporter: pack your bags, the message from the university of oklahoma to the members of the sigg ga alpha epsilon fraternity after that shocking video went viral. the video appears to show members of the fraternity chanting a racial slur and indicating that african-americans would never be admitted to the fraternity. taped. oklahoma's president today said the students' behavior on that bus is disgraceful and all ties between the university and s a e have been severed. >> i hope they think long and hard about what they've done. i think -- i hope they think long and hard about how words can inyour and hurt other people. >> reporter: students and staff gathered this morning for a peaceful protest. >> we are disgusted that these types of things happen on campus. >> reporter: the university president say there had will be an investigation to determine whether additional actions will be taken against the fraternity members, but it will take time. though he was blunt about what he wants to see happen to those involved. the national chapter of sigma alpha epsilon says it was disgusted by the behave -- behavior of the frat members and issued an apology on behalf of the entire organization. karen travers abc news

washington. hundreds of demonstrators took over the wisconsin state capitol today to protest friday's fatal shooting of a 19-year-old black man by a white police officer it is the fourth straight day of protests since the shooting of tony robinson inside the department after he allegedly assaulted someone and seen jumping in and out of traffic. >> this is a bigger issue. this highlights the universal problem with law enforcement and how its procedures have been carried out in light of what happened over the summertime and many of the event wes witness circulating around. >> today madison's police chief apologized to robinson's family. officer matt kenny is on paid -- is on administrative leave. robinson was on pro-passion for armed robbery and court records show he suffered from adhd, anxiety and depression and was prop to boredom and anger. president obama made training a home ground high-tech work force a priority today and the training already happening here in the bay area.

>> it turns out it doesn't matter where you learned code it just matters how good you are in writing code. if you can do the job, you should get the job. >> this morning in washington, d.c., the president announced a $100 million federal grant program. mr. obama believes if the country is not producing enough tech borkers, our nation's role as tech leaders could be jeopardized. 21 cities including san francisco, and about 300 employers have made commitments to train workers. >> lyanne melendez joins us live in the newsroom with more on how the president's initiative will work. leann? >> reporter: the obama administration will provide $100 million in grants to make this happen. it connects the city with training institutions and then employers' high-tech business. the money is coming from what companies pay the government to bring in foreign workers. in other words, h 1 b visa money. this woman started training

today for a career in technology. for the next six months she and her classmates will undergo extensive training at year up a non-profit dedicated to helping 18 to 24-year-olds land a tech job. >> somebody already told me that maybe i should be in project man management because i have good public speaking skills and they are starting to see skills i didn't know i had in myself. >> reporter: their training is free, thanks to corporate support and donations. they also get a stipend and that's just the beginning. >> after the the first six months, they earn an internship with a company like a microsoft linkedin, sales force or facebook and finish their internship, they are employer pie one of those core partners or someone else in the marketplace. >> reporter: market street is one of the companies involved in the program, hiring newly trained people. tiffany of zen desk was with president obama today when he intro dudes the initiative. she spoke to us via satellite. >> these kind of partnerships are creating those pathways that

toxicology tests under way to find out if a dog in prin's dog show was poise.ed. the owners of this irish certificate named jagger say three different poise were laced into chunks of meat that the dog ate. who would do such a thing in the 3-year-old dog collapsed and died friday 26 hours after leaving the show. there are accusations the prize pup may have been poisoned by a rival. jagger's death is called a heinous crime but does not believe another competitor was responsible. >> we can't and we won't think this was an act of another exhibiter. if we thought this we couldn't go on. and the last 30 years of breeding and showing beautiful dogs would have been a complete waste. >> sad. the toxicology report is due next week. >> just awful. new video out today from bill cosby. it's his first on-camera message

less than five days after a life-saving chain of kidney transplant surgeries nine of the 12 parents involved are recovering at home. >> zuli broussard is already at home, the patient who started the desire to donate and started the chain. abc7 news reporter katie mar zplul low has the story. >> the decision was really easy. it has always been bigger than me. >> reporter: >> uli prowse sard wanted to donate a kidney for years and recently started the bross is he is to help a friend of hers. that donation didn't work out but broussard was unwavering in her desire to help someone. >> and i just went on to give it to the next person to hopefully help with the quality of life and extend some life. >> reporter: of course she thought she was only helping one person. but the recipient of broussard's kidney had a relative who wanted to donate but was incompatible so they donated to a different stranger.
