falling and we will keep it in the forecast through the morning commute and a few scattered showers by noon and 60 and mostly clouds by 4:00 low-to-mid 60s and a dry evening mid-50s to low 60s. >> sometimes we have to be the bearer of bad news but folks need to know it is slick and dangerous. >> i am thinking about the earthquake and that is frightening. >> walnut creek southbound 680 is looking busy and northbound too, but we are still expensing wet conditions and the san mateo bridge is an area where we do have wet conditions. when you get across the peninsula, that is where the troubling is we do have one accident near sfo involving an overturned vehicle and other vehicles that have slid off the road ways with vehicles ahead. we start with breaking news great san francisco's mission district. right now firefighters are on the scene of a two-alarm fire

and amy hollyfield just got to the scene and joins us from 24th and treat. >> i have the fire chief here to give us the latest information. let me bring in the fire chief, hayes-white. we were called to the intersection of 24th and treat and we started working the fire and residential above the commercial structure. the fire was contained at 4:50 and under control at 5:00 and we transported five family members three to san francisco general where life threatening injuries a father and two children and the mother and other child went to st. francis with serious inhalation injuries. >> tell us about the rescue. >> crews did an incredible job, going to second alarm. they rescued two boys out the front window behind me where the ladder is.

the young girl down the stairs, the entrance, and they brought the mom and dad out the back is they used three different techniques to evacuation. in the lick store below we had two people sleeping there in the back that could not get out and we cut the pad look to get them out. i am told upon arrival there was heavy smoke and visible flames. the fire was contained to a front room in the residential unit but we have arson to determine the cause and origin. >> too early to say. do you have anything suspicious jump out? >> not at this time, 90 minutes in and we will be here all day trying to figure it out. >> critical injuries. >> one of the boys is also very serious. >> you have a brave tone and worried. >> i am worried. concerned for the family.

they had everyone out in minutes but they had suffered serious injuries. "will head over to see how they are doing so i ask you to keep them in your prayers. >> that is chief hayes-white briefing us on what happened at this fire which is out. the focus is on the family all family members have been taken to the hospital. now, in los altos all lanes of northbound 280 of open again following the fatal crash and two vehicles collided after 1:45 near foothill express way and c.h.p. said they hit the center divide and one driver was ejected and died at the scene. the other was not hurt. no word on the cause of the accident. c.h.p. said there is no evidence that drugs or alcohol played a role. >> from florida in the last hour, a military official

confirmed 11 marines and soldiers are now presumed dead after the blackhawk helicopter crashed on a training mission from the air force base in the florida panhandle. the cause of the crash is not yet known but officials say dense fog could have played a part. it shows a look at the heavy fog conditions at the air force base. a blackhawk helicopter was carrying four soldiers and seven marines. crew open board was taking part in a routine training mission over a stretch of beach. pilots usually wear night vision goggles and the aircraft disappeared at 8 ok -- 8:30 last night. debris was spotted only a couple of hours ago. >> there was fog. doug not know if it was a contributing factor. when rescue arrived on the scene this was limited visibility. >> names of those on board are not released but they were from

camp legeune in north carolina and the army crew was from the national guard in louisiana. moments ago an official at the air force base said human remains have been found. coast guard crews found part of a rotor in the water and are sending for more. near the air force base in the florida panhandle you can see it is extremely foggy with the emergency equipment and this is recovery operation right now and all hands on board the hip corporate were lost and the seven marines belong to a special operations unit from camp legeune, north carolina and the four arm members belong to a national guard out of indiana and all 11 are lost. >> the doctors medical center board will vote on a $2 million deal allowing the hospital to make payroll for medical staff and prevent a closure.

light rain in fremont to palo alto to the south bay where everyone is getting wet. as you head to the north we see transition over the scattered lighter showers from novato and petaluma and is true until 9:00. steady light rain will change over to scattered showers between 7:00 and 9:00 that will cover the entire area. looking up at the north bay here is san rafael 101 is better northbound and the headlights coming at us from the south and walnut creek light rain with spray looking south along 680. scattered showers and dry in the afternoon so the morning commute is most affected. fog forms tonight and we need just a little bit of moisture for the fog to region rate.

still looking at warm possible records in weekend. today, pretty close to average from upper 50s to low 60s along the coast and to the monterey bay santa cruz at 66 and mid-to-upper 60 for our bay and inland neighborhoods. tonight, clearing sky and the fog forming around the bay and into the north bay and along the coast and temperatures are 10- or 15-degrees cooler with mid-to-upper 40s inland and upper 40s to low 50s for the bay shore and to the coast. the cold front is moving across the neighbor and when it does the morning light commute becomes elevated moisture like it was yesterday and it will not be left with a lot of cloud cover and a few breaks and sunshine. we between 9:00 and 2:00 we will have the best chance of scattered light showers is after that game on. 60 on friday at the coast and 70s inland.

covering novato, oakland sunnyvale by area, this is abc7 news. >> firefighters rescued a family of five from a burning home in the mission district. amy hollyfield is at the scene at 24th and street. amy? >> the family of five was rescued out of the second story apartment. all five the pair and two kids were taken to san francisco general hospital with life threatening injuries and the mother is southern were taken to st. francis with serious smoke inhalation injuries. two kids were pulled out of the frontrunner and the daughter out the back back and the dad out the back window. >> it is difficult to see them

the transition for the rest of us between 7:00 and 9:00 as the cold front moves. expect to have slick streets like we have here even if it is not raining. 280 and 17 you can see light rain and spray being check the up from all cars traveling through san jose. as we head from 9:00 to the early afternoon scattered showers and clouds for the evening. clouds clear and fog forms and warm temperatures this weekend. today, clouds and rain will bring us back to average mid-to-upper 60s in the bay and inland and upper 50s to low 60s along the coast until...santa cruz at 66 degrees. you can see the fog forming and it does not take much moisture with the moisture trapped in the lower level it will be significantly cooler tonight. mid-to-upper 40s inland and upper 40s to low 50s around the bay and toward the coast.

as the cold front moves cross you can see behind it a sharp line between the steady rain and the scattered showers and sunshine late into the afternoon hours as the elevated long plume of moisture does not give up much more in the way of rain. we are around .01" to most of us end up with under .1". dry through next week. walnut creek is very slow and it looks like it is stopping as you round corner to pain street and at highway 24 it crunches there and you get on to highway 24 it does not look too bad and from the san rafael toll plaza building and all we sear the headlights from richmond to the toll plaza to get across the water it will take you now ten minutes so a slow down enter the
