the people that drive the shuttle buses. >> reporter: the teamsters be out here in about a half hour. they want to union the drivers and get them better play and benefits. they had success. they've been able to unionize the two other shuttle companies in the bay area. this is a protest at apple headquarters in cupertino. 150 drivers are contracted by several bay area tech companies like apple yahoo! ebay, genetech and amtrak. apple announced it will be giving its shuttle bus drivers a 25% increase in hourly pay. in addition, people who work a split shift, that requires them to drive routes in the morning and the night, will get a higher hourly rate. this is loop concentration. they will be in union jackets

with signs, attempting to distribute union organization information to drivers. teamsters are hoping they will pass a bill later this month, urging the transportation agency to take into consideration the relationship between employers and drivers as they grant permits. teamsters planning to be out here for their rally through 9:00 this morning. reporting live in san francisco matt keller, abc 7 news. a man accused of shooting and killing an oakland mother, trying to protect her children will appear in court. 19-year-old anthony sims faces murder charges. police are hunting for additional suspects. sims got hurt in monday's shooting along chestnut street. gunfire broke out as chyemil pierce walked her children home from school. she died while rushing her children to safety.

san francisco police have released a sketch of a man they say tried to lure a 10-year-old into his car. on march 6th this man drove up to the student near karl and cole street. he said the man tried to coax the student into the vehicle four times. the child escaped to a nearby restaurant. the man is described as a 30-year-old to 40-year-old white man, with slicked back black hair. crime stoppers is offering a $300,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of this escaped inmate carter. it's been a week since the accused child molester got away from a sheriff's deputy in san jose. he overpowered the deputy. the highway patrol is trying to determine why a man was walking on highway 24 in oakland when he was hit and killed by a car. the accident stopped traffic after the caldecott tunnel. it was near the highway 13 exit. witnesses tell police, a man was

walking on the freeway right before the accident. protesters are calling for calm in ferguson, missouri, following the shooting of two police officers during a protest. the officers have now been released from the hospital. and authorities are searching for the gunman or gunmen. a crowd of about 200 protesters gathered to call for the resignation of ferguson's mayor. about 50 people gathered near the police station for a candlelight vigil. lawyers for oscar pistorius are in court today to challenge a decision to appeal his culpable homicide conviction. prosecutors want him charged for murder. in november, a judge convicted him to culpable merchandise shooting his girlfriend reeva steenkamp steenkamp. pistorius says he shot steenkamp because he thought she was an

intruder. cdoctors are trying to keep a case of hepatitis a from getting any bigger. anyone who ate at the restaurants between february 9th and 26th may have been exposed. but health officials say the risk is low. the hotel is sending out notices to guests. hepatitis a is a liver infection, usually transmitted person-to-person, or eating contaminated food. we will have a live report coming up at the top of the hour. happening today, san jose's rookie police officers will graduate from the training academy. the mayor will speak during today's ceremony. san jose has 1,000 officers. that's down from the force's 1,400 six years ago. budget cuts forced layups. san jose will continue to face staffing shortages as more veterans reach retirement age. union leaders in the refiery

in martinez have reached a deal to end a streak going on for six weeks now. the new contract emerged after negotiations by united steelworkers and shell, which represented a dozen oil companies. tasorro employees about 2,500 union workers. the other facilities across the nation, about 10% of all refinery capacity. the reopening of the plant should drive gasoline prices downward. water wasters, watch out. a vote will take place next week to boost temporary water conservation measures across california, now in the fourth year of drought. it could limit homeowners to watering outside landscaping for twice a week. and hotels may have to get a guest's okay before washing towels and changing sheets. violators could face fines of up to $500 per offense.

>> how much is water worth? well, it depends on who you are. rice farmers look to cash in by selling their water to thirsty, southern californians. that means more farmers won't grow as much rice this year. the district is one of several agencies willing to pay $71 million for water. 4:42. volunteers will hold their last organized search for missing teenager sierra lamar, almost three years to the day since she vanished from morgan hill. our media partner "the mercury news" reports volunteers have logged 50,000 hours looking for lamar. some have vowed to keep looking on their own. others plan to attend court hearings for her accused killer. the substation in south san jose is almost complete. a sniper attacked the power station in 2013. last year, thieves broke in. pg&e's work on a massive security upgrade started in 2013. a stone wall will enclose the entire security. and security guards
