an upscale tourist destination in napa is now the center of a hepatitis outbreak. the first cases the county has seen in five years. thanks for joining us. >> health officials are warning customers who ate at two restaurants inside a posh hotel to watch for symptoms after a couple employees came down the hepatitis a. and they are not the only ones. abc7 reporter is live at the health department with the latest. amy? >> reporter: five cases in two weeks. they've got two clusters of people who don't know each other

and haven't intersected. the theory right now is that this probably came through -- if you stayed or ate at this westin hotel in napa between february 9th and 26th 45e89 authorities want you to closely monitor your health. >> it's a very slight chance if they ate in one of the two restaurants within the hotel, that they might have been exposed to hepatitis a. again, i stress very unlikely. >> reporter: two hepatitis a cases were detected here. both patients are restaurant employees. no kst myrrhs are known to have contracted the virus but symptoms don't usually surface until a month after exposure. it can be contracted through can a nated food andrey. >> we don't want people to over react. on the other hand, we don't want people to think their physician think they have something else. >> reporter: a worker told us management has asked them not to talk to reporters. they were talked to about risks. current hotel guests tell us they were not told about the hepatitis cases but they are not

concerned. >> i have my shots. you know i have kids. i get sick all the time. >> reporter: there have been a total of five hepatitis a cases reported in napa in two weeks. they do consider this a small outbreak. >> i've been here over ten years. the most we had in a year is one and the last one is five years ago. >> reporter: napa residents are worried about the visitors here during the exposure time frame. >> i feel bad because i'm sure they -- probably scared. >> actually no evidence what so ever there is transmission ongoing since theed of end of january. it's safe and fun and weather is beautiful, as you can see. >> the symptoms for hepatitis a are listed on our website at abc7news.com. we have new details about man charged with the murder of ak own land mother trying to protect her children. the family of anthony simms says the 19-year-old suspect does not own a gun but court documents show simms was convicted of

carrying a concealed firearm last year. authorities say simms admitted he took part in the gun battle in which the mother died. simms now has hired a private attorney to represent him. he was scheduled to be in court this morning but his new lawyer asked for more time. right now oakland police are search for additional suspects in monday's shooting on chestnut street. pierce was killed trying to get her children to safety. she was walking them home from school when she got caught in the cross fire. again, police are looking for more suspects. from sonoma county, police say two men are under arrest and search for a third suspect is under way after a man was abducted at gun point in front of his wife and two kids. officers say the trio took the 25-year-old man and forced him into a pickup truck in santa rosa tuesday night. investigators say the captors drove him to modesto and forced him into the trunk of another car. all the while, holding him for ransom. police say he managed to escape in modesto. back here at san francisco,

police released a sketch of a man who they say tried to lure a 10-year-old into his car. officers say on march 6th the man drove up to the student near cole street. the man then tried to coax the student into his vehicle four times. the child escaped to a nearby restaurant. the man is described as a 30 to 40-year-old man with swift back black hair and facial stubble. he was seen drives a toy oelt a taurus or honda civic type vehicle. bus driver of the biggest company of the bay area is being targeted again for unionization. the team ters want to unionize for another transportation company in an effort to increase wages and benefits. abes a abc7 news reporter. the teamsters hit the street to san francisco for a rally. they're handing out union cards for balance transportation, a company contracted to drive work is to bay area tech companies includeing cisco and google.

they're looking to unionize the drivers with a goal of increasing wages and benefits. >> their wage rates is arranged 30 to $35,000 a year. trying to live on that kind of money in the bay area, expensive, it's a struggle. so they need representation so they can all get increases in wages and in the benefits that they're offering. >> reporter: the teamster's successfully unionized company transportation attend of february which contracts with several tech companies like apple, ebay and yahoo!. drivers for facebook saw their benefits and wages increase by about $30,000 a year after they joined the teamsters a few months ago. not every driver is happy with the tactics by the union. >> i just believe in coming and talking to the employees rather than go in front of our clients. >> sherry mundi works a split shift. drives her bs from ebay at 25k a.m. seven-hour break and doesn't get off until 8:00 at night. but you won't see her complain.

she likes her job. she's hopeful to see a raise in wages and binen fits but she believes what will eventually come without paying hundreds of dollars of dues to the union every year. >> great increase. everybody wants to make a little bit more money but, you know, in today's economy, i'm happy to have a job. >> reporter: the teamsters say they were harassed yesterday while trying to talk to the drivers at the transportation headquarters and move to this location on van nuys avenue to directly reach the work irs. we reached out to bauer transportation but have not heard back. if the union gets enough shuttle drivers to sign the authorize authorization cards they could have a vote in 30 days. happening today san jose's latest group of rookie police officers will graduate from their training academy. mayor ricardo will speak at today's ceremony. he has more than 1,000 officers, down from 1400 six years ago. budget cuts forced police layoffs.

other officers left for better paying jobs. san jose will continue to face staffing shortages as more veterans reach retirement age. massive manhunt under way in ferguson, missouri, for the gunman who shot two police officers. fortunately they are recovering. abc news reporter gonzales sdwroins us now from ferguson where that community is really feeling the strain of months of conflict. marcy? >> reporter: police still aren't saying how many shooters they're looking for or if they even have a description. and while police are following up on leads we're told they are not close to making an arrest. on this rainy day in ferguson missouri, police are still out searching for the gunman. they say took aim and shot two officers wednesday night. last night protests outside ferguson police headquarters a calm contrast to the night before.

one officer was shot through the shoulder the other in the face. president obama sharing his reaction last night on abc's "jimmy kimmel live." >> whoever fired those shots shouldn't detract from the issue, they're criminals. they need to be arrested. >> reporter: police trying to track the gunman down closed in on this house yesterday just a few blocks from the shooting season questioning three people but still making no arrests. while last night a small group gathered by candlelight to play for peace and for those two officers. >> we must pull together. we must heal together. >> yes. >> reporter: who are now home from the hospital and recovering. there is a $13,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. attorney general eric holder says the justice department and the fbi may join in the investigation. live in ferguson, missouri, marcy gonzales, abc7 news.

clouds that are going to be the mainstay of our forecast over the next couple of days. they haven't done anything for sfo other than make it a beautiful flight in and out the peninsula. high clouds right now and temperatures running already near 60 degrees. from there, you can see it's hazy out there. a little extra humidity in the air. no pollution. nothing to worry about in that respect. today, partly sunny and temperatures above average by about, say three to eight degrees. warmth, it peaks. in records. tomorrow it won't be quite as warm next week. it will still be warmer than average. it won't be quite as warm. looking dry. here's the way it looks down in san jose. 280 and 17. tree pollen continues to be high. let's look at the temperatures. let's start with the warmest. antioch and livermore. 78 degrees. can you imagine sitting on livermore or sitting in napa this afternoon drinking some nice wine and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.
