abc7news.com/app. developing news out of livermore, crash involving a dozen vehicles has blocked several lanes on i-580 in livermore. i happened an hour east of north flynn road. at least one person was killed. two eastbound lanes still closed as emergency crews work the scene. four san francisco police officers are under investigation for racist and homophobic text messages. the messages are full of slurs and insults particularly against black, hispanic, and gay people. the texts are part of court documents released friday in the corruption trial and conviction of former officer ian fur or. the four officers were re-assigned some time ago. tonight we're learning more about man who was killed by police in napa has his family plans to gather and mourn their loss this evening.

sergio quintana is live in napa now with more. >> reporter: late last night we were told by police that the man who was shot by officers right here on spring street, died in the hospital today. that man has been identified as 41-year-old james richard jiminez. this is a picture provided by his family. following the shooting last night we were told by witnesses that members of his family shouted at the police as they dirk encircled they area with crime scene tape. investigators say police tried serving a search warrant at his home for drugs and guns, and he sped off on a motorcycle. he lost control of the cycle and crashed on spring street where officers say they spotted a gun on him. they ordered him to drop the gun before an officer fired three times. the officers involved in the

shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure. it's now being investigated by the sheriffs department. the vigil is expected here in an hour. >> dozens of people gathered at oakland city hall to celebrate the life of a mother who was shot and killed while protecting her children from gunfire. 30-year-old chanel pears was caught in the crossfire of a gun battle that broke out in front or her home monday afternoon. today her family, friends and community members, came out to remember her and say no more to weapons and violence. >> i need you to understand how important it is to take a moment and think about what you're doing before you do it. because a lot of times you put innocent lives at risk. and tragedies like this happen, and this didn't have to be a tragedy.

>> 19-year-old anthony simms has been chargeed with pearce's murder. today ends a nearly three-'er search for a missing morgan hill teenager. sierra la moore has last seen march 16th 2012. today dozens of volunteers joined her family for one last search. >> reporter: the grim instruction to volunteers? >> the important thing is you're looking for bones. you find any stop and then begin to look in a wider area. >> reporter: teenager sierra lamar vanished three years ago without a trace. at first volunteers searched daily and then once a week every saturday. >> 1,130 searches over the last three years. that's over 54,000 volunteer hours culminating in this final walk. >> instead of regularly scheduled searches we're going to be operating on call if we

sierra. in morgan hill, abc7 news. >> bay area native and seattle chicago star marshawn lynch was caught on video trying to break up a fight outside 0 a san francisco night club. tmz sports posted a video of lynch in the baseball cap, in on the sidewalk. a man who was with lynch got into a fight with a heckler who called lynch a seahawk chicken. lynch then left the scene quicking in a waiting seem. he grew up in oakland and starred at cal. >> new details about a woman who snuck on to the airport. the woman slipped past the gate arm at a vehicle checkpoint and reached the airport's cargo area on the opposite side from passenger terminals. he says that no point did she have access to active runways or aircraft. police say santos waved her arms

at a plane shep was homeless and living in a shelter. she says she wanted to get back to her native guatemala. the spokesperson for the airport says the security worked because they prevented her from further access. >> san jose mayor delivered the annual state of the city address today. the event was held at a school gym on a weekend so more people could attend than in years past. much of the mayor's speech focused on public safety. he pledged to add moyer police officers to the force and prevent crime by investing a million dollars to create summer jobs for at-risk teens. >> we're going to help our teens build resumes rather than rap sheets. ba supporters of drone technology gathered in the east bay today to prove a point. the group drones for good met at cesar chavez park to talk technology and fly drones. the berkeley city council is considering a two-year ban of the devices but organizers say many people don't realize drones can be used for other purposes beyond surveillance or military operations. >> that may mean rescuing animals, stopping poaching assisting in search and rescue, surveying environmental problems, a whole wide variety of things. >> last month the faa proposed new rules that would allow the use of small drones for business purpose by 2017. this week california could impose stronger water conservation measures. the sacramento bee reports on
