possibly thousands of criminal convictions from the investigation into racist and homophobic text messages sent by four police officers. amy hollyfield is at the hall of justice with more. kristen, the district attorney will be reviewing all cases touched by the officers he listens to go back 10 years. he said he is deeply stubbed by the text messages the officers are accused of sending. they were discovered by federal authorities. here is one example of the many text that have surfaced and i quote, "could do you celebrate kwanzaa, yeah but we burn the cross on the field and then we celebrate whiteness." there are dozens of t like these. the officers involved are all veterans of the force three and a female. the police union is not standing by the officers.

his retirement after playing only one season in the nfl. we are in santa clara with more on the decision. good morning this comes as a surprise to a lot of 49er fans. but this is something that borland was thing about for a while. the 24-year-old linebacker is leaving because he is concerned about head trauma and long term effects of the injuries. borland has been diagnosed with two concussions in the past in 8th grade and in high school. and he told espn that it is not worth the risk. he did his own research and made the decision with the support ofly family. he had a fur area contract with the 49ers and was expected to be a key player next season. >> i spent a last time reading about the information, reading the search papers and books and talking to people about it and contacting some of the concussion experts who step forward and he was clear saying
