key 20ive player next season. but the 24-year-old linebacker has decided to put the brakes on his career. he is retiring after just one year. he told espn he is worried about head injuries and the long-term effect of repeated concussions and told espn from what i have elevenned and what i have experienced, i don't think it is worth the risk. >> a doctor who specializes in brain injuries at santa clara valley medical center explains what can happen to athletes with a history of multiple concussions. >> changes in memory personality cognition, early dementia. >> short term affects include headaches and trouble concentrating. >> the majority of athletes will get better but there is a small population where they are longer lasting and a big effort new to increase education and awareness of what are the symptoms for those who have had a concussion and what to watch out for.

one had a brain disease blamed on years of tough hits when he took his own life in 2012. we are getting a lot of reaction mostly viewers this support of his decision. students at a san jose high school are wearing black today to mourn for a student who died during track practice. amy hollyfield is at leland high school. yes kristen 16-year-old wynn is described as a good person and a generous person. students at lohan high school showed up for class today wearing all black as they mourn the loss of a classmate who passed away yesterday afternoon. >> last night on social media we decided to commemorate him and honor him and his family by wearing black and showing

respect. >> school official say 16-year-old was at track practice when he collapsed on the field. >> they immediately performed cpr on the student while the school was calling 9-1-1. he died at high school. >> crisis counselors have been called in to help everyone deal with the loss. >> this is difficult not just for students but for staff members too. teachers develop relationships with the students and he was a very well leaked student, a good student, and a good athlete from what i understand. it is a very sad and difficult time on the campus today. >> the principal is visiting each of his classes to personal inform the students of his death. >> everyone knows he was kind sweet and thoughtful and generous and always in the of other people. >> at this point, officials have not said why tristen died.

san francisco firefighters discovered an illegal marijuana grow in the bayview district this morning with bags of pot plants outside the home on lane street a few blocks from a police station. firefighters alerted police after seeing marijuana plots in the window of the home. they went to the house after getting a report of electrical wires that were arcing and there was special equipment to grow marijuana. >> in half hand hour the public defender will tack about the expanding e-mail scandal in the city's police department saying he is concerned about previous cases involving four officers suspected of sending racist and homophobic text. one was investigated after being caught on tape six years ago arresting and threatening a skate perioder on video. the text was released by the federal prosecutors in a case of an officer convicted of

corruption. >> there is a growing problem from the growing economy with legislation that will require contractors show a reasonable parking plan before they can receive an onstreet parking permit. the problem is that a lot of people are doing construction and that has translate interested a lot of trucks taking up scarce parking lots in the residential neighborhoods. they want to make sure the contractor could not waste spaces. >> a former united states air force mechanic has been charged with trying to cross interest syria to join the islamic terrorist group isis. he was indicted in new york yesterday. officials say he tried to destroy four film drives days leading up to his arrest. the director of the secret service joseph clancy delivered stunning testimony he did not learn of a drunken incident involving agents until day after it happened. this is the latest incident for a trouble agency responsible for protecting the president.

millionaire robert durst's torn said his client's arrest is based on tv ratings, not facts. he faces additional charges after the weekend arrest. the 71-year-old was taken into custody at a marriott hotel accuses of killing his friend alumni at uc berkeley susan berman. a hbo documentary features him admitting to the murder but the attorney said his client did not kill berman saying this is an arrest based on the tv show.
