amy? >> matt, they will be out this morning talking to people, handing out alerts and educating people because of bats that were found in the area especially people would live around this elementary school. it was a dog would found the one here at the school. raven found one of the three bats that have turned up in present and she picked it up with her mouth. that bat tested positive for rabies. raven now is in quarantine for a month and found the bat on the blacktop at nails elementary school in fremont on friday. parents say they are feeling nervous. >> i am shocked and worried. both because i have three kids and a child if there is something new they have never seen, is that real? is it a dead bad? let me try to pick it up and touch it. that is the worry. our this is what they look like, mexican free tailed bat.

something is going on in their population, it is clear but they do not know what. in addition to the one at the school, a bat was found two weeks ago outside fremont's community center and that also, has rabies. a third bat was found yesterday near the school and it has been sent away for rabies testing. the residents have questions and concerns and that is why vector control will be out this morning answering questions. developing news in san francisco, police are investigating a deadly shooting after officers shot and killed a woman they say was driving erratically and dangerously on a busy city street. police dispatch recordings show how frantic the situation was. [ inaudible ] >> two plain clothes officers were investigating a report of a stolen car and located the woman and the vehicle at the chevron station on van ness avenue. she sped toward the officers and hit the building and went the

wrong way downtown pine street. the officers fired when she started driving on the sidewalk putting the lives of officers and pedestrians in danger. our reporter will have a report from the scene with the latest in the next half hour. >> 24-year-old man would led c.h.p. on a dangerous chase is in custody this morning facing felony evasion and driving under the influence of drugs charges. it started on highway 80 in fairfield and ended in los altoses hills yesterday afternoon. the chase lasted 100 miles to four counties and ended with a crash. the s.u.v. was speeding down 280 with a rim exposed. the driver kept going with sparked flying. the driver finally lost control of the vehicle and it flipped on 280 north of the foothill expressway. the vehicle rolled until it was rightside up again and the back wheel continues to turn but the s.u.v. was too damaged to keep going. after 15 seconds, the driver

side door opens and the driver stepped out of the of the vehicle and assessed the damage. officers quickly came with guns and tasers drawn and arrested the driver. the resident was taken to the hospital to be checked out before being taken to jail. >> trucking company involved in a fatal accident on monday in iburg has a questionable safety report. c.h.p. said roby trucking has a long history of safety and maintenance issues. the company owns the 18 wheel that crashed into a restaurant on monday killing the driver. witnesses say the we brakes failed which is in surprise to some employees of the trucking company who wanted to remain anonymous. they say they witnessed mechanical failures on company vehicles. >> it is sickening how people like this... [ inaudible ] they jeopardize the lives of other people because they don't want to follow the rules. >> if an inspection in october, c.h.p. found them to be unsatisfactory in a number of

areas including record keeping. owners with the company have declined to comment. >> police in fremont are looking into several cases of vandalism, several businesses and buildings in the down area were vandalized during the overnight hours on tuesday after someone used a rock to smash the windows with the first call at 1:40 in the morning and among the businesses affected the city hall offices on capital avenue and union bank on the parkway. all seven businesses were targeted but no suspects were arrested. >> caltrain plans to spend thousands to investigate cracks in rod connecting the i tower to the new span of the bay bridge. according to our media partner, the investigation is a follow-up to caltran's discovery that a 25' tall connection rod has cracks and corrosion. the lower rod was exposed to standing fresh water that caltran believes was from rain. they say though will spend $170,000 to look into whether

19th claiming he was a pg&e workers. the man told the family he wanted to check for a damaged sewage pipe. he distracted the family and two others went inside the home. the suspects got away with cash and took off in a white truck. the spotlight is about to be turned on to domestic violence scandal involving the san francisco sheriff whose wife is preparing a play about the incident. you may remember he was arrested for withouting his wife's arm during an argument and he was suspend but returned to the job. the play is titled "what is the scandal," premiering may 29 at the mission cultural center. lopez is an actress in venezuela said it is to spanish and is a comedy. if you have a bid birdbath or feeder, take it down because it is linked to salmonella in birds where outbreaks in the bay area that is spread by birds to other birds. officials say prevention is key.

a woman witnesses say was driving erratically and recklessly on van ness avenue. our reporter is at the scene. alyssa? >> kristen, it started when police open foot tried to pull a driver over at the gas station on van ness and pine. they say the woman inside tried to get away hitting cars in her path and putting other lives at risk. here is part of the police dispatch recording that pick up the chaos. [ inaudible ] >> she was wrecking into every car on the block. >> after 7:00 last night, two san francisco police officers in plain clothes were in the area investigating a report of a stolen car. they thought they spotted it at the gas station and apporached the driver. when they presented their badges the woman inside panicked and tried to flee and police say she was driving erratically making sharp turns driving on the sidewalk and driving the wrong way, smashing into other cars in

her smooth. officers say they we had to use deadly force. >> i don't know what was wrong but she was crazy. out of control. >> the vehicle made it on to the sidewalk off the sidewalk several time drove at them, and they thought they needed to use force they used. >> the woman was shot by police officer and pronounced dead at the scene. her car was towed just a little over an hour ago. the district attorney will investigate the shooting. her name has not been released. although several other cars were hit and a motorcyclist had to jump off of his motorcycle to avoid getting run over, there are no reports of any other serious injuries. more now on breaking news. state authorities have revoked tax-exempt status of blue shield of california. the move could leave the nonprofit owing california tens of millions a year in taxes.

look through evidence here. we are told that a 27-year-old woman was killed instantly. a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman died shortly after at the hospital. the remaining four victims are expected to pull through. all victims were standing outside of the store here when shots were fired after 8:00 last night. in were a lot of witnesses say they hear right around 30 gunshots. neighbors had to duck and take cover from all of the flying buck lets. stockton place are saying there could be some gang components to the case based on the area. but that remains under investigation. we are able to catch up with the public information officer or the stockton police department and he said in all of the year on the force in stockton he cannot recall an incident like this with this many victims in such a populated area. the father of a teen beaten at a san jose mall is pushing for investigators to release
