>> plane sent out a distress call. germanwings flight 9525 crashes in the southern french alps on the way from barcelona dusseldorf. the president of france called the crash "a tragedy on french soil." the nationalities are not known but 45 passengers are believed to be spanish. this map shows the path of the airbus a320 and the flight altitude before entering switzerland when it crashes into a remote area that is mountainous and difficult to reach. a police captain said 400 emergency speakers knell are mobilized and there are reports of plans transporting bodies from the crash site arriving in french towns. experts say mid-flight crashes like this are rare. >> it was on a normal route you

>> back here we have breaking news in vallejo where police are scrambling to track down a 31-year-old woman who disappeared and police say they got word she was kidnapped for ransom. our reporter is at a police command post in vallejo with the latest. investigators and search teams have set up shop in her neighborhood and police have a couple of pictures they would like for you to look at to see if you could help them. first up, a picture of the victim and they want you to keep an eye out for 30-year-old denise huskins, a 30-year-old man called to report she was kidnapped yesterday afternoon and investigators say there is a ransom being asked for in this case. they also want to know if you have seen this, her car. it and a 2000 camry police found it but will not say where. she was last seen in the car and they wonder if there are witnesses that can tell them more where the car was before they found the car. investigators say the kidnapping happened yesterday morning and

she was taken from her home on kirkland avenue and they got call about kidnapping later and that at 2:00 yesterday afternoon. they are being cautious about how much information they released and have not said how they necessity a kidnapping has happened or el has been rated about the republican some but it is a legitimate kidnapping. >> at this point we have to treat all incidents as if they were a kidnapping for ransom based on the information we have. we are taking this case very seriously, so much that we have contacted the f.b.i. and requested their assistance. >> neighbors say she lived here in the home with her boyfriend and cat and they describe it as a safe and quiet neighborhood and cannot believe it would happen here. the search team is also helping in the efforts and investigators say if you are on thin you know knows anything please come forward and call

authorities in antioch have arrested a man for troying to kidnap a teen on her way to school telling investigators a man in a car offered her a ride as she was walking to valley high school. she get out when she refused. a second student came forward saying something similar happened this month. >> firefighters are trying to figure out what sparked an early morning place that torched more than a dozen cars. it break out before 5:00 a.m. at a carack lot. about 16 or 20 vehicles are charred when the flames were out. there is a mix of wrecked cars, all up for auction. >> a manhunt is underway if san francisco for a prisoner who escaped from custody. our reporter is outside the jail

to tell us how this happened and where the search is centered now. >> lisa? >> good morning, the inmate was last seen running from the hall justice toward harrison street and police and sheriff deputies are searching for him in san francisco south of market. a guard tried to chase him but could not catch up. they are looking nor a 26 -year-old santiago gonzalez. he escaped last note from jail at 8:45 a deputy sheriff was escorting him to the basement dumpster to take owe the trash and while in transit he broke free and fled. he is in jail for tracking drugs and republicans. police arrested him last july near his home. the detectives confiscated drugs and guns including heroin and law enforcement is focusing the search in san francisco south of market neighborhood and they last saw him running guard harrison street and he should

still be in his jail jump suit and they are asking anyone who seeing anything to report it immediately. thanks: burglary suspect is in custody after a stand off with palo alto police. the suspect barricaded himself inside the home and a woman if her 90's and her caregiver were home at the time and both got out safely. the swat team and crisis negotiators were called in. man surrendered to police two hours later. >> we have if you details of a young mother and baby hit by an s.u.v. in hayward. the mother has dayed. the 21-year-old was purring her 11 in old son in a corner at the crosswalk on the overramp and they much hit by the s.u.v. turner was declared brain dead and passed away last night much the baby, arthur griffin, remains in critical condition. the driver stay at the general and no charges have been filed.

covering santa clara, san francisco, east and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. bay. 6:15. we are following developing news in pennsylvania where a school bus has crashed into a home in the philadelphia push of blue bell. there were children on the bus and we are just getting new information from our sister station wpvi in philadelphia where i worked for four years there are no injuries reported and there kids in the because but they managed to on the rear door and they exited the bus so you can see they are fine and the front the bus crashed into the louse and investigators, again, our sister station is reporting that despite how it looks there are no injuries reported. >> happening today a firm cam -- a former california governor arnold schwarzenegger is asking for congress to support after school education with a plan that would cut federal

to. french officials say germanwings flight 9525 sent a distress signal and the airbus a320 was en route from bars lend to dusseldorf when it lost altitude and crashed in the alps this map shows the path of the plane. germanswings updated the number of people from 148 to 150 which includes 144 passengers and six crew. the king of spain said the passengers were spanish german, and turkish and the president of france said all are presumed dead. debris from the crash has been found and hundreds of emergency personnel are mobilized but the site is remote and difficult to reach. there are reports of plans believed to be transparted bodies from the crash site now arriving in french towns. this is a discount arm of
