officers found the suspect, 57-year-old scott dunham dead with one gunshot wound ending an intense manhunt that started last night after he shot killed a san jose police officer. veteran officer michael johnson responded to a call about a drunk man on senter road road threatening to kill himself. officer johnson was there to help and was shot to death, instead. law enforcement from multiple agencies spent hours tracking down the suspect, neighbors remain over evacuated. >> a big bang. and i didn't know i advised my grandmother and grandkids and told them to sit down and i lookinged out at the window and i saw two police officers with guns pointed and i don't know if the sounds i was hearing was gunshot because i moved back away from the window at as i saw them with the guns pointed. >>bly also used a robot and

and twitter@abc7newsbayarea. it is 4:32. also this morning, the disappearance and possible kidnapping of a woman in vallejo and police are searching for denise huskins but last night, the search took a disturbing new twist. our reporter is in the newsroom. >> yes detectives turn to the water around mare island but the foot search for 29-year-old denise huskins has been called off. the teams used so far to scan an area near the bridge last night because k nights indicated there was a submerged human-sized mass in the water and that turned out to be nothing. her family has questions of the timeline leading up to her disappearance. mid-afternoon on monday denise huskins boyfriend, 30-year-old, reported her missing. quinn said she was forcibly taken from the hospital that morning and the kidnapper demanded ransom.

morning. a black box, the voice rodder, was found damaged but information should be retrievable. the germanwings took off from barcelona to dusseldorf. the priorities are to locate human remains and funding the other black box. officials believe this was horrific action saying hijacking or terrorism is unlikely. >> seven for an escaped prisoner from san francisco jail has expanded beyond the city. here is the man, alexander santiago-gonzalez who escaped while on trash detail. he was escorted by a sheriff deputy and he slipped away into the street. gonzalez was arrested on federal drug charges in santa cruz county, last may and is considered dangerous but was in a security level year that led him to the unsecured areas. >> i would have to say it is questionable as to how he mit have been classified if he was

this is going to take some time to work through. we will go ahead and get the information we need but it will take some time. >> how many officers were with officer johnson when he areached? >> i don't know the exact number but at least four officers if memory senators me correctly. who knows initially there were probably two but the officers try to get to a call of this magnitude as quickly as possible because obviously, libs are hanging in the balance when you have a call involving someone with a gun and the potential that someone has a mental illness. >> as the chief mentioned his family has been notified he did have a wife. she has been notified. we are making every attempt to go ahead. she was not in the area at the time. we are making arrangements to make sure that happens the she is aware of the situation. the department has reached out and we are doing everything we can to get her here as soon as possible. other than that, i don't think he had any kids. his family is local in the area. they were notified officers and our chaplain. it is a very very tough thing to have to relate to a parent. it is a tough thing to relate to...your fellow officers. we have to continue to do the
