and over 14 years in the patrol division he touched lives. the outpouring on social media has been supportive of the officer most probably never met. others brought flowers to police headquarters to express sorrow and respect. >> when a police officer is killed in the line of duty, it is a loss for everyone in the community. >> the district attorney said johnson testified in cases they're prosecuting. johnson was always prepared. johnson had a lot of friends who cared for him frank santiago is one of them who worried when hearing about the shooting. >> i text him and says are you okay bro? and never got a response. i was hoping to see something. i never got the text. >> they were black belts in judo and taught at the pacific judo academy in south san jose.

the police sargent said johnson was an ideal officer. he was a even keel, respectful, hard working officer you'd ask him to do any assignment and it would get done. >> he had a way of communicating that helped in police work. >> mike was so easy going and just his mannerisms were easy for people on the streets to connect to him, because he was easy to talk to. he will be the 12th officer to have his photo added to the wall. his wife and father have asked for privacy to deal with the grieve. >> the family released this statement. we appreciate thoughts and
