richmond-san rafael toll plaza on the bridge, traffic is light. so far this morning. >> new the news, the investigation into the shooting death of a veteran san jose police officer continues. last night officer michael johnson's colleagues and a grateful public turned tout -- out to pay tribute. matt? >> a huge memorial is here and you can see the cars, letters and candles left as the community and fellow officers and family and friends grieve the loss of mike johnson shot and kill open tuesday in an ambush while responding to a 9-1-1 call of an armed man threat being suicide. san jose police officers association said johnson's family is expected to decide by today on the details of the funeral service that will likely feature a viewing prior to the memorial and burial. mike johnson was respected in the world of martial arts a black belt and started coming to

the academy when he was only 17. the owner said johnson was a great friend and outstanding future who refused to be paid. >> he brought from what his job in here. >> last night police, family and strangers paid tribute to officer mike johnson as the body was moved to a los gatos funeral home. dozens of fellow officers saluted as his body was placed in the hearst. johnson was the 12th san jose police officer to die in the line of duty. flags are at half staff at the san jose lived and officers from across the country are expected to come here to san jose for the funeral services showing solidarity in the law enforcement community. >> we are learning more of the past of 57-year-old scott dunham the suspect accused of killing

officer johnson. court documents show dunham was arrested for domestic violence in 1996 and the common-law wife reported he choked and hit her in the home and told officers that dunham had a drinking problem that made him angry. he worked from 1998 to 2012 as a grounds gardener and construction laborerrer at fool hit community college and resigned for retirement purposes. >> a fundraiser is held in san jose to help the family of officer johnson. brittania arms is donating all sales on thursday with former sharks and all-star do do this and said the raffle will include a giants sharks and earthquake memorabelia with donation box set up ahead of time if you cannot make it.

>> a vallejo woman could face charges after her claims she was kidnapped and held for ransom were a hex. investigators say denise huskins vanish asked her boyfriend claimed she was forcibly taken from the home on monday. denise huskins turned up yesterday after her mother's house and she claim she was kidnapped for ransom of $8,500. now, police say she is refusing to talk with them and hired an attorney and has not been seen since. they say there is no evidence to support her account and the kidnapping claim was fake. >> in the deadly plane crash in the for example much alps of the officials announced the plane crash was deliberate and one of the pilots appeared to want to destroy the plane. the look at the news conference being held in paris by french prosecutors investigating the crash of germanwings 9535 and the co-pilot was at holme and the other pilot was locked out

of the cockpit. the prosecutors say that data from the voice recorder indicates that the other pilot could not get back in and alarms were going off as they tried to knock down the door. 150 people were on board the flight including three americans when it crashed. >> at daylight authorities in oklahoma will begin adding up the damage great a deadly string of tornadoes that hit at rush hour. there were numerous injuries. here is the latest from the news. real. >> at least one person is dead in the dangerous storms that pummeled the plains including several towns in oklahoma. this is video what just came in from oklahoma mangled cars, one upside down if a drive. the vehicle hit the house this is the same city hit by a devastating tornado back in 2013 and this is what it left behind in other areas: downed trees and piles of debris. winds tore the rooftops off homes and wiped out a mobile

because of the dry air and lack of a breeze. around the bay 72 to 84 degrees and inland 75 to 84 and the coast is around 64 to 67, and the 72 is actually going to be south san francisco and inland the 75 is petaluma. you get into the 84 degree temperatures you have for go inland east bay and the south bay. moving forward this is how it looks on the peninsula temperatures are near record levels today. 10 sea breeze develops and it will cool the cost tomorrow and the pay and a little bit inland we are still in the 60, 70s, and 80's and the breeze is more stout and controlling of the weather on saturday and 60 at the coast and low-to-upper 70s elsewhere and 80's are back inland on sunday and we will see if they stretch into next week. >> here is a picture of the bay area you can see it is green and where the exception of the altamont pass, that is where the traffic is starting to build

especially as you come away from tracy boulevard up for 580 and it eases up through the altamont pass. however that now is let wering to get busy. when you head beyond vasco you are in good shape. now a look at what is happening in the north bay where we have a d.w.i. accident early this morning and right now the on-ramp to westbound 580 is going to be shut down until 8:00 p.m. not 8:00 a.m., 8:00. p.m. p.m. because of a power pole that was knock down. you need other plans to get to 580 and 101. traffic is nice southbound and seeing yellow as you head in the northbound direction. in the east bay that is 680 the drive away from highway four through concord and walnut creek at 72 miles per hour. and highway 24 will be cleared with no accidents to report. >> starbucks is brewing a new treat to celebrate the 20th

>> covering cupertino, concord wine country and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. good thursday morning everyone, a gorgeous shot from the east bay camera looking to the bay bridge and the glistening bay and we will have real change in temperature from the cooler morning hours to warm afternoon. mike will have more about that coming up. >> there are new accusations against pg&e claims that money meant for pipeline safety went to executive pay instead. >> according to the "los angeles times" the president of the public utilities commission claims that money collected from customers was spent on executive pay raises in the months before the deadly pipeline explosion in san bruno. they say that motion peg put off safety and maintenance work to boost the profits and provide top executives with bonuses. it is shown that pg&e received approval in 2007 to spend $5 million of ratepayer money on safety work but the work was

never performed. >> authorities say a santa clara county deputy would guilt his life was in danger the man off the road. when deputy arrived they found a suspect drove toward them prompting the shooting. the driver got away but deputies later found the driver at the hospital suffering a nonlife threatening gun shot wound. they arrested two women who were in a a separate car at the scene. police in antioch are investigating a child being hurt by fireworks. police received a report of an explosion at 8:00 yesterday morning at an apartment come mess on sycamore drive. officers found a nine-year-old child hurt and the mother said her son was playing where fireworks inside their apartment. the boy went to the hospital with severe burns to his hand. investigators are looking into how the boy got the fireworks. police are looking for a man suspected of robbing at least

two businesses. according to the press democrat two robberies were reported in an hour of each other yesterday morning on east washington state. in both cases the suspect acted as if he had a bun and got away with cash. a third robbery was recorded before 2:00 p.m. at the lucky grocery pharmacy at gateway shopping center. the suspect got away with medication and police are looking into whether the suspect in the first two robberies could be connected to the third. >> in response to the drought a fish hatchery will release 12 million salmon into the bay area waters and drive the fish from shasta county to a release site in solano county. the sacramento river has been greatly impacted and this is part of a plan to transport salmon to improve their survival chances during the migration to the ocean. >> a happy ending this morning to the bunny caper in walnut

creek all three of the animals have now been returned to the children's center. they appear happy to be together. two rabbits were returned on monday and a third brought back on tuesday night. the thieves acknowledged it was a bad idea. security video captured a group of teen boys and girls tabling the rabbits but the important thing is they have acknowledged it and they brought the bunnies back. >> now a check on the weather forecast because the temperatures are so different between morning and afternoon. >> 20 to 30 degrees different and santa rosa at half mile visibility and pleasant hill road, rohnert park expressway calistoga road all areas affected by the reduction in visibility and half moon bay to a mile and a quarter right now. san rafael has the fog isolated to santa rosa and maybe slipping

bay shore we have mid-to-upper 70s until fremont at 80 and moving inland, low-to-mid 80's here with 84 in brentwood and livermore the warm spot and cool niecely tonight if you can open up the windows, and the pollen does not bother you we drop into the low-to-mid 50s now what will happen tomorrow, look at the sea breeze developing and the temperatures dropping, 50s and 60s along the coast into san francisco and 70s around the bay and a few 80's left inland if places like napa and antioch and close around livermore. my seven-day forecast shows the sea breeze touching inland neighbors by saturday and that is a passing cold front bringing us extra clouds. when it passes, it will be breezy and warm next week and away from the coast at mid-70s to low 80's. >> we are dealing with bart delays at knife or 10 minutes in pleasant hill because of equipment problems. it is also in the clearing

65 in the east bay warm air just waiting for the sun and remaining the ground and overitem the atmosphere. we have upper 40s through the san ramon valley to 50 in livermore and pleasant hill and lafayette and mid-50s out highway four and low-to-mid 50s around the bay shore and cupertino is 49. in san jose, it and clear. as we head into the afternoon, the coast is the coolest but you will see more sunshine as the day unfolds, 64 to 68 and inland is remainest at 75 to 84 and an the bay, 72 to 84 and we will threaten the records. as far as the fog in san rafael, it is confined so santa rosa and cooling at four to six degrees as the sea breeze returns and two to four degree on saturday and a few more clouds and sunday it is breezy and warmer than average at 60s at coast and 70s and 80's at the bay and inland.

lanes are taken away and the westbound traffic is busy and look closer to 40 minutes from tracy to dublin. 5:40 a young female bear found hanging out in the tree in tracy is headed back to the wild. workers have been looking for the behavior since neighbors first spotted her wander the city streets and in the tree for a couple of hours before officials showed up with tranquilizer darts. the bear fell 35' on to a tarp and she was not hurt. her ear is tagged so she has been captured before. fish and wildlife workers showed the tranquilized bear and they will find her a new home when she is checked out. >> to leash or not to leash? support bay area pet owners have if their corner in a dogfight with washington, dc. >> fighting to keep their favorite store open east bay kids are taking matters into their own hands.

tesoro refinery in martinez return to work ending a to month long strike. members of the steelworkers union ratify add new contract on tuesday. it was the last of three groups at tesoro to approve the agreement. they walked off the job in february part of a national strike. they produce a fifth of the we nation's gasoline supply. >> a fundraising campaign has raised $10,000 in less than a day, relatives of lindsay combs are trying to pay for her funeral and her four-year-old daughter's education after a dump truck top medical over and crushed her in her own driveway. she was two months pregnant. the investigation could take six months. we have a link on our when if you would like to help out. congresswoman jackie speiers promising to get democrats and
