live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> a bay area landmark is in the spotlight at the golden gate bridge showing the pilot who we now intentionally crashed a plane and the french alps. thanks for joining us. >> new revelations this morning into what the world initially thought was a traffic accident. french investigators now say that the co-pilot who visited and trained in the united states deliberately crashed the plane carrying 150 people into the mountains. our reporter is in the newsroom. >> kristen, this has been a nature mayor for family members and germanwings officials trying to put together why this

happened. investigators say a few key findings lead them to believe it was intentional. the co-pilot manipulated the flight controls to lose altitude and lock the other pilot out of the cockpit. >> the co-pilot of germanwings flight 9525 has been outside as an address lubitz of germany and this is a picture a familiar shot to us in the bay area, taken from vista point with the golden gate bridge in the background. french prosecutor said that based on information collected by investigators, it is apparent that lubitz wanted to destroy the aircraft. why? that is the question. >> normally someone committing suicide does it on their own so we do not talk suicide. when you are responsible for 150 people behind you i don't call it a suicide. >> he was alone at the controls and love locked the other pilot out. the pilot is heard pounding on

the door as if he is trying to break it down. the prosecutors say that lubitz was fully conscious and the plane is guided into the side of a mountain. >> victim family members starting arriving in france to a town near the crash site. many property flowers and gathered in a field for a memorial. the c.e.o. of germanwings and lufthansa hold a press conference in germany expressing shock over the findings. [ inaudible ] >> the flight performance was perfect. there was nothing to worry about. >> they say he received his training in arizona and he took a six month leave but eventually came back and passed all medical tests. >> this statement was released calling eight very difficult time and part of it reads "our thoughts are where everyone

affect by this apaling tragedy." at home, the san jose police department is thanking the public for the enormous support for fallen officer michael johnson ambushed and killed by a suicidal man. the funeral details are being finalized and a prayer victim sill mapped. matt keller joins us from san jose with more. >> cheryl, we saw a couple of officers arrive at police headquarters. they had their own tragedy when they lost two officers of their own. they are here today to show their support to the san jose police department and man other members of the community. >> two memorials of the san jose police department continue to grow, flowers and candles and notes left in memory of the officer johnson. >> i feel very bad. very sad. >> officer johnson was shot and killed tuesday in an ambush

while responding to a 9-1-1 call about an armed man threatening suicide. last night a large procession as police and family and people in the community pay tribute to officer johnson as his body was moved to los gatos funeral hope. sky 7 was there as dozens of officers saluteed his body. the community has felt the pain. the middle school is less than half a mire away and they put a special message on the sign thanking the officers that are often seen on campus. >> we wanted to thank the officers for everything they do in light of the recent shooting. our community benefits from the police department and we are close to them and we have officers on site each day, helping our students, their families and our community. >> san jose police chief exville said "thank you for your support, shoulder to lean on and kind words, it is truly appreciateed."

boyfriend police called in search teams and the f.b.i. >> in the grand scheme of things mr. quinn and miss huskins have money -- have taken resources from our community and instilling fear among our community members. if anything it is mr. quinn and miss huskins that owe an apology. >> denise huskins' uncle is speaking out about the press conference. >> they really assassinated her character and the character of her family. >> his wife is married to denise huskins' brother and said it is tough to listen to this and to read the reaction online. >> it is unfair they are being portrayed this way by the police department and then now, airing it all over the place that the court of public opinion is squarely against her.

on the experience, people want their heads. though think they wasted all these public resources and the truth is the opposite. >> police are clear in the press conference: they do not think a kidnapping occurred. they say aaron quinn reported the abduction from his home on monday and an $8,500 ransom was demanded. she turned unsafe yesterday and police say they thought the story was far-fetched. >> the statement that he provided was such an incredible story we initially had a hard time believing it. >> but denise huskins is promising you will be hearing more soon. >> i believe it is not a hoax and that be revealed quickly. >> he did not say when. police tell us if evidence shows denise huskins and quinn lied about a crime being committed they will call for criminal charges to be file against them.

all lanes of eastbound interstate 580 in livermore are open again a few hours after a man was hit by a car. we were over the scene near the vasco root on-ramp after 6:30 and the california highway patrol said the man got out of the car because it broke down or, perhaps he had a medical problem and the helicopter rushed him to the hospital and all the lanes re-opened after 7:00. we do not have any word open his condition. >> a short time later near interstate 580, a school bus hit a bicyclist and sky 7 overthat scene on -- over that scene in nadia lama drove. the condition of the bicyclist is not relieved or how many were on the school bus. >> a man driving an s.u.v. smashed into a store. he was alone he was injured and taken to the hospital.
